I was curious, so I googled. The graveyard is the Brand Family Cemetery. Leslie Brand was the developer of Glendale. The pyramid is his grave, and has been there since 1925. Now y'all know :)
Yeah we hike up in Brand all the time. Little family cemetery is cool and like all things will cease to be accessible (even though there is now a fence around it) once the public swarms it (like the Griffith Park old zoo).
@@bernitajenkins3180 Fun fact: All of North and South America was inhabited by indigenous people, aka Human Beings. I'm not really a podcast person but when Covid first hit and I was locked up in my home all alone I started to listening to old episodes of WTF every day and I swear it kept me sane. So thanks, Marc Maron.
WTF has come out with a new episode every Monday and every Thursday without fail since 2009. Having two new WTF episodes to listen to every week was one of a small handful of things that got me through a very rough period in my life from 2012 to 2013. Thank you, Marc!
This one is special. You can feel the difference in Kevin's approach. I know Marc is doing the circuit and killing interviews but here he just feels like Marc. Thanks Kevin and team for doing something different and just letting it happen.
WTF is popular because Marc Maron has some of the best interviews and conversations ever. I’ve been listening since the beginning. Great to see you and him hiking like Ulysses in Glendale.
I've tried to put my finger on why Maron is such a good podcaster. It's because he is a very good interviewer, especially long form interviewer. It's the art of the interview and being a good conversationalist. Some people like his talking by himself before the interview, his talking about his drug addiction years and past romantic relationships, even his guitar playing. I think it's his long form interviewing/conversational skills with his guests.
Marc is a great Podcaster for many reasons. He is funny. He seeks to have interesting conversations and to connect with his guests. He shares himself and has made a lot of amends along the way. And he listens.
great episode, thanks Kevin!!! a truly cool podcast you have here, hope Netflix buys this and injects a whole bunch of well deserved cash your way the way they did Comediennes in Cars getting Coffee.
Dear Mr Nealon You've been one of my favorites comedians for over 35+ years. Thank you so much for every laugh you've ever given anyone, including myself. And thanks to your devine life coaching in Happy Gilmore, I blocked out the bad, and harnessed the good. And my life has changed 100 for the better. I THANK YOU, and wish you nothing but Well
Been listening to WTF for 3 years now. Marc has a real knack for interviewing in a very informal and casual style. I think the fact he doesn't have a structure or stock questions (that everyone asks over and over again) allows the guest to let down their guard a little bit and reveal themselves. I think of it as a casual conversation, and the listeners are a fly on the wall. Much like Kevin's Hiking interviews. Authenticity is a rare thing these days.
Great hike, Kevin & Marc thx 4 taking us along. It looked hot.🌞😎😅 I just about spit out my water what you said at the end Kevin. I'm glad he didn't lose his virginity on this hike.😂😂
Tragically, my first introduction to Marc Maron was through 'G.L.O.W.,' but it stuck with me and sparked my curiosity to go down the Marc Maron rabbit hole. Thank you, Kevin, for being such a great host on the podcast while discussing your hiking adventures. Seeing you conversing with everyone who has played such a pivotal role in Western comedy brings me great joy. As someone who is not a critic or writer, I apologize if I cannot find the adjectives to describe the tremendous insight and joy you bring. In this rapidly growing age of instant gratification, it is refreshing to feel like things are moving slowly, despite the conversation's constant shift between peaks and valleys.
The second time I learned about Maron was on GLOW. Then after seeing him I began Googling because I could of sworn I'd seen/heard him before, even though he was "new" to me. Sure enough, I had an AHA moment when I realized he was part of the Air America liberal AM radio experiment in the mid-2000s. Gone on to become a big fan of WTF and his standup. Love this dude.
I’m embarrassed to say I didn’t know anything about Mark until I watched his HBO special and now on your show. I’m definitely a fan now. I love a introspective, thinking man’s comic. If he hasn’t already played Frank Zappa or Groucho Marx he would be a natural.
@@TheCrazyCanuck420 I did see the HBO special and went back watched his two on Netflix but haven’t seen the podcast yet. I will check that out as well 👍
back in the beginning of his career, he was often regarded as one of the comics that all other comics respected the most, and wanted to make sure to see. he was the (for lack of a better word) most "real" As far as castings, plenty of people the last few years, and me included, have advocated for him for when they inevitably make the movie about Stan Lee's life
Marc Maron is so great…I’ve enjoyed all his work, from sit ups to the 3 minutes….thanks for the movie suggestion, I hadn’t heard about the movie, To Leslie 😃👍🏼
I love these hikes Kevin. You are a genius for coming up with this. You are hilarious and you are great at interviewing! I am a Marc Mason fan and now I'mba fan of yours. Keep it going!!💕
You guys mentioned green burial...Elizabeth Fournier, also know as The Green Reaper, wrote an incredible book, The Green Burial Guidebook. She buried my sweet husband in a shroud made by the folks who made them for 6 feet under. A wonderful soul.
Kevin. You need to get your guests to carry the camera. Everyone would do it for different reasons and it would make more comic situations and open people up more. Imagine I'm your make-believe manager and I'm actually good and a nice guy, I've got grey hair that I comb to the side and always wear t-shirts.
Enjoy the hike chats since way back when! Perhaps it's some postural stretching technique but all I see is hostage situation with Maron's hiking style 😶🌫
For me the best WTF episodes are the ones with Mel Brooks and Carl Reiner, where they tag-teamed him. Two sharp old Jews being interviewed by a younger one. Epic.
Nice to see Marc out on the trail with you.Between the two of you (especially Maron 🙂) I thought for sure Lorne Michaels' name would come up, but no. Color me surprised!

This is such an entertaining chat. Wish it was longer. I could listen to these two talk for many hours without getting bored
It did seem quite short stacked up against the usual Maron WTF interview.
