What a lovely guy. He seems very together for someone born into a life of constant scrutiny and expectation - it would be very difficult to be an artist with a parent that famous - the pressure to succeed would be insane. I got chills when he told the white feather story. I'd be willing to wager his Dad is very proud of him.
I think it helped that his father abandoned him at 5 years old. And then left him $50k out a $220m estate. I think he's very clear on who he is, and who his father's new family was

I'm impressed with Julian. He is so humble and down to earth. When I first heard his first hit song, I honestly thought it was John. Same voice and looks so much like him. He's a great photographer. I actually think he was lucky not being raised with his famous rich dad. Everything he has accomplished has been on his own. He was cute when he was young, but wow, he has aged really well. I can’t imagine living with that burden of having an iconic father and constantly being asked the same tiresome questions and handling them with such grace. I’m glad Julian mentioned his mother being an artist. She gave him many of his gifts as well, one of the of best of which has been raising a lovely, grounded and insightful man.

What's crazy is that Julian is 59 going on 60, his father died at 40. So Julian has already lived 1.5 times longer than his father has, a full 20 years and counting.
Kevin is so focused on plowing ahead with the hike and interview that he doesn’t realize Julian’s getting pelted with branches and squeezed behind by thickets. 😂
He does that to everyone. It's always nice when people catch on and start holding there own with him and Kevin gets branches to the face. lol Paul Rudd I think.
He definitely notices. He's thinking of ways to incorporate it into his comedy narrative. No doubt. His face is always the straightest as someone takes a branch to the face.
I've seen that occur in most of these interviews ~no matter the trail location. Kevin knows which side to walk on, as he likely checks it out before filming, or is familiar.
Julian has released some excellent songs. Unfortunately most people have never heard most of them. There are many fine gems from him - if you take the time to delve into his discography.
I am glad Kevin has a wide range of guests. I have been a fan of Julian since the 80’s. He is a talented artist on his own. I cannot imagine being the child of a rock legend. Looks like he is doing his own thing. Much love!!❤
And the ridiculous, tiresome question about whether the sons would capitalize on their fathers recognition and form a band, all the while trying to be recognized for their own talent and work. Even the Beatles probably could not have been the next Beatles had they reunited. Jules got so fed up with the comparisons he left music to go into photography. Sean avoids comparisons by doing very experimental non-commercial work. The other sons and daughters too have their own things. Leave them all alone.

I remember there being a video online here about some of his photography work in a museum or show somewhere, and I know his beautiful mama Cynthia was also part of the video briefly and she mentioned being so happy her son was happy.
Great interview. I do think Julian is sick of talking about the Beatles. He wanted to talk about his work. I guess it will haunt him the rest of his life. He seeems grounded and in a good place.

Glad they talked about how funny "Get Back" was. John, in particular, but the other three all had their moments. Watching John & Paul goof around was the greatest. And nothing about the way they joked around felt dated, either. It's like their humor felt very current. I challenge anyone to watch the very last scene of the doc, as the credits are rolling, while the band is attempting to film a video for "The Long And Winding Road", and not laugh. It's legitimately hysterical. Again, John, in particular.

A funny coincidence as someone who's been avidly catching up on "Hiking with Kevin" and just before opening RUclips and discovering this video, I was on Spotify randomly downloading Julian Lennon for the first time. I always feel sorry for him and Sean that no matter what great stuff they create in their lives, they'll always be in the shadow of their father, and always having to answer interview questions about John. And yet, that white feather story really gave me some goosebumps. Thanks Kevin for your hike series!

This really captured the essence of Julian. These 15 minutes revealed more about his personality than from any "formal" interview.
When Kevin asked about all the Beatle kids coming together to form a band and Julian rolled his eyes, that was all the answer I needed
