I'm listening to Letterman's recent WTF podcast and they mentioned Marc's standups on Dave's show. I click over to this channel and well, of course Don posted this only yesterday. On the ball as always!
It's been said before, but certainly we can we all agree that it is something to watch a time-lined progression of a visionary comic. You could say it about Louis, Chappelle, Hicks, and the list goes on & on.
WTF is the only podcast I listen to completely, and have been since almost the beginning in '09. I love Maron. He's not for everyone and I think he's gotten better as he's gotten older. His last few specials were just great.
I remember on the show Rough Crowd in the late nineties he made the comment that everyone would join the military simply because it was the only career to get full benefits. Most prescient thing he ever said.
Some of Maron's jokes are such fine points that they would easily float away without some great delivery. Listening to his material Im wondering who else would say this and who else could possibly make it work? He's in his own category in the comedy world.
Wow. Now I have to see if he has those podcasts with Robin Williams, Mel Brooks, and Carl Reiner available somewhere. Fun to see the gun bit resurface, reworked. I think it’s the beard that makes him recognizable.
96....ends his set with the punchline "reluctant prophets".......Dave to Paul "Ummm maybe we won't have him back for three years" Paul to Dave "Or until he gets a new haircut!"
I saw him on Dr Katz, then nothing until I saw the IFC show, which was so funny I started asking other comedy nerds about him. He's pretty much my new Carlin. Funny, and I can tout his work without fear of later disappointment due to weird RW BS or horrible behavior.
It would, and to little purpose. I did put up the first instance here, which includes a description how the name came about - ruclips.net/video/4zJAzl0NowY/видео.html
@@dongiller Thanks for that I’ve always wondered what the origin was. I don’t know why its so funny to me, I suppose it’s just the subtly of the humor.
Wild that this man reinvented himself as one of the greatest interviewers of our time.
Every one of those haircuts seemed like a good idea at the time.
The times didn't offer many decent styles. All I tried made my head look like a mailbox, so I just quit cutting.
The suits too
He is totally unrecognizable in the 90’s. He needed to get into his late 40’s before it made sense.

He was meant to be an older dude. Looks and sounds better these days.
Thanks for putting this together. Interesting to see his early work.
ALWAYS one of my favorites... Thanks for these...

"Listen, man. You're just a clown at my birthday party." Hilarious!
This is how stand up is done folks.
Without the Zappa mustache and the cats it’s just not the same.
😂
very cool to see the progression of his comedy and stage presence.
He truly comes into his own. The first appearance on Letterman was barely funny and quite stiff, and he only evolved from there.

@Nick Lattimore Comedy yeah, he meant Tough Crowd…
Man, does he look different in those early appearances.

i love how they both forgot about the 2007 appearance
Seemed like his set was cut short. Maybe they intentionally kicked it under the rug. 🤷♂️
Neat to see his early stuff.
"Hey, wrestling!"
Each clip is an evolution to the full Maron we know today
Just want to make sure that Marc is okay. Lately, these collections have been posted after the subject died.
Weird! This is the first time I've ever seen this guy! He's actually not bad.
His specials are better
wow, didn't know marc maron has really strong material!

In 2013, he and Dave said he hadn't been on in 11 years. Close. According to this, it was 6. Weird?
If you use the speed adjustment to slow him down a bit he actually sounds more like his current self.
Maron is a riot
all good stuff
I love Maron, and Hicks had a similar joke about how soldiers fight in wars now.
Yeah, I noticed that too! It's different enough, but similar to the Sears catalogue of missiles
96....ends his set with the punchline "reluctant prophets".......Dave to Paul "Ummm maybe we won't have him back for three years" Paul to Dave "Or until he gets a new haircut!"
Had to check if he's still alive!
He has a pod cast
Same
Don needs to add an RIP or something when it's a tribute post.
Wow, Marc with a wedding ring on his finger 😮
That first set was pretty rough ngl lol
We all gotta start somewhere lol
Nearly on Full House
Early Maron never seemed like he was performing for an audience, more like he was auditioning for a better gig
That's why there's a law ❤️
Do you have the balloon boy top 10?
I have every show.
Terrorist bit was great

2007: THE ADVENT OF THE BEARD!!! IMHO
Do you know what IMHO means?
Hi Don,do you happen to have the September 14,1998 episode or October 21,1996 episode of the Late Show?
I have every show.
@@dongillerare those two on YT?I searched and nothing is coming up.love the channel btw.
I haven’t uploaded them. And thanks!
@@dongiller you're welcome.im a huge fan of Dave.peace..
Marc had great jokes before he became “alternative “…..anyway I like him…great podcast
Hey Don, this may be a lot to ask for but can you make a collection of Dave mispronouncing Hal Grunwalds name?
It would, and to little purpose. I did put up the first instance here, which includes a description how the name came about - ruclips.net/video/4zJAzl0NowY/видео.html

Not bad, Marc.
He's still obsessed with his nose hairs. Just watch ANY of his IG Lives 😂🤣
😂😂😂
Hilarious. That’s why there’s a law.
Was David Letterman ever on the WTF Podcast? I DON'T THINK SO!!! IMHO
He was.
Teenage girls @11:08
So uniquely unfunny Marc Maron. He was bombing with an applause sign. Wow! Great stuff.
So handsome
