My heart is broken tonight. Norm Macdonald was so funny, smart, brilliant, and one-of-a-kind. Truly a comedian that others should strive to be as funny as.
@@jbean9021 people who are invested in the comedy world view Norm as the legend and the golden standard of being a comic, while the majority of people hardly know who he is (maybe US citizens that grew up in his SNL era know him well too). Majority of people know names that are mainstream like Chapelle etc. while Norm appearances and shows are kinda niche, especially for younger audiences. The fact he is not alive anymore is not helping. But I think it’s more or less on purpose, he was never trying to be the center of attention. Better went as underrated than overrated for sure. Peace

Norm Macdonald's segment on the roast of Bob Sagat has to be one of the greatest routines EVER. The producers told him to be as raunchy and filthy as he could be, much like every other comedians they have on the roasts. So what does Norm do? He literally does one amazing old dad joke after another. Half the crowd has no idea what's going on but all the real comedians knew exactly what he was doing, he killed the room without using 1 cuss word or 1 dirty joke, absolutely classic.

I truly believe Norm is one of the most brilliant minds of my generation. He is so authentic that it goes unappreciated. Gets fired from SNL for "Not Being Funny" Dave Letterman hears that and brings him on the show....
Every time I watch these clips, I'm absolutely flabbergasted that multiple people thought it was a good idea to give Carson Daly a late night talk show.
How original was this dude? One of a kind. Funny as hell, of course, but somehow full of life and warmth despite his irreverent persona. And oddly relaxing to watch - made it look so easy, never came out of his laid back self or did or said anything inauthentic - like he's sitting in his Lazyboy at home, take it or leave it, I'm just gonna be me. Loved the guy! Huge loss.
I had the pleasure of meeting Norm late at night in the casino in vegas and he was really nice guy. Shook hands and told him i cant get enough of his youtube channel and these clips. He was very nice and so was his lady friend with him.

I've been binge-watching Norm's greatest jokes on various talk shows...the Moth Joke, the Professor of Logic, the Polish Joke, it's his skill in telling the story that makes them all so special...I loved how "No, my uncle wasn't Polish..he was from my cousin's side of the family..." and it took the audience a second to trace that one out before you heard the laugh...RIP Norm!!

I miss him for many reasons but I fear they are selfish and I would never wish Norm to give me one of his “looks”. So glad we have clips to rewatch when we need our Norm fix. Adios my friend
All hail the great David Letterman. What a smart, witty and compssionate host. No interruptions and all the comebacks and questions are right on the spot. Loved him and still do!
Agreed. Him and Conan handle Norm so well. Meanwhile, Jay talks down to him and doesn't even grasp how funny Norm is being. Bugs me every time

What I love most about that joke is that he said it seriously and continued with the story, like he was trying to slip it past the audience. It's times like this where you can definitely see the influence of literature on his comedy style.
Literature like what?? I’m curious

He was really into Russian lit mostly I believe

One of a kind comic! Once in a generation comic that was genius to all generations. "Was a generational type thing". RIP NORM! You are still bringing us laughs 2 years after leaving us! Thanks for all the memories we have to see your comedy at the click of a button!
Right now I'm picturing Norm standing at the pearly gates, ordering a Polish sausage, and making the angels crap their pants with laughter. Rest in peace, Norm.
All hardware stores in heaven give away polish sausages for free
Heaven's angels have no sense of humor, and to make it worse, they only drink heaven's milk.

I feel like Conan definitely understood norms comedy the most.. the chemistry was just insane.. RIP you old chunk of coal
I think Letterman did.
Him and letterman
Actually the ladies from the view
Letterman mostly stayed out of the way. Conan would interject, but he was one of the few who could be an effective straight man for Norm because he knew the score.
Note also that Conan would have Norm on first and then keep him around specifically so that he could derail the next guest’s interview. 😂 Props to Conan for that
I love the chemistry between Norm and Dennis, it's like they have the same energy level

Norm Macdonald was so funny, smart, brilliant, and one-of-a-kind.
Truly a comedian that others should strive to be as funny as.
Norm was probably the most brilliant (yet underrated) comic who ever lived. R.I.P. Legend
He was really funnyyy😊
Who underrated him?
SNL? Certain trolls on RUclips.
Peace
Rest In Peace Norm Macdonald. You were a master at your craft and a humble man. Thank you
I won't say I was an avid fan , I knew of him and have always thought he was funny but since seeing sooooooo many people react to his passing I started binge watching all his stuff. The beauty of Norms comedy is in the simplicity . I love this guy.

You can have cousins on either side of your family, and saying “my uncle is from my cousin’s side” is obvious and provides no additional info.

@Drillo It's funny because you can't discern what side of the family he's talking about or what side could be polish. Its just a stupid answer that sounds legit at first until you think about it. Its like a Bugs bunny joke that takes the bad guy a few seconds to figure out while Bugs gets away.
