Hearing Norm do update unlocks a core memory I didn't know exists. My parents use to watch SNL when I was growing up, and this takes me right back. A warm nostalgia.
The genius of Norm, was his carefree delivery regardless of what he was saying. He had his material well thought out, in advance. His style is admired by many. Very unique creative Genius.
One of Norm's jokes: "I'm not afraid of Iraq, Iran, or North Korea. The one country I'm afraid of is Germany. I don't know if you guys are history buffs, but they went to war against the entire world, TWICE, and it was CLOSE."
Most accurate and honest news reporting in the modern era. A sane, hilarious and reasonable man from the long past zenith of western civilization. Thanks for the memories, Mr. Macdonald.
" It used to be when someone died you'd say "Oh,that old man died." Now its "He lost his battle." It’s so telling that when I read this joke to myself, i giggle ever so slightly. But put these words into the mind of Norm MacDonald and I can’t stop laughing.
Not really the same without seeing his face, because his expressions were part of his delivery. His expression could make you laugh as much as the jokes. His comedy was about truth. He said it was not a good idea, or really truthful, to make fun of someone who you completely disagreed with politically. I think he was a libertarian or at least a conservative.. He was a big fan of George W. Bush. I think he also wrote a lot of the comedy for The Norn Show. I only wish he had shared with the world that he was dying of cancer. It was a shock to a lot of people.
