I think Super Dave’s outrage in the first episode was partly playing along and partly genuine concern for Norm’s career. Little did it matter, Norm would be dead within the decade!
This compilation is genius, it's so long that you don't get tired of it. I've been replaying these four hours for like a month now. Thank you to whoever made this!
I'm very happy whoever James is, to have taken the time to cut and edit the best part of the podcasts. I love falling asleep to this. It literally pops up every night because youtube knows.
It’s touching how Norm crafts every blue card segment to reflect the comedic personality of the guest. I think it shows a lot of honor, not only to invite someone on his show, but to understand their humor and career well enough to craft an entire segment highlighting it. And then to give the guests the best jokes based on their own style, keeping the “weekly update” jokes to himself, and giving the bad jokes to the straight man (Eget). Profound writing and showcraft. EDIT: In a way, “Nom Macdonald Live” was everyone’s show - a reader’s digest and victory lap enshrining the styles and careers of the greatest comedians of the time.
It really was his magnum opus. I know he'd think that would sound ridiculous, but it's genius for so many reasons. He said once that there's a difference between making people laugh and making people smile. The jokes the guests tell that are tailored to their style/personality covers both of those.
Another good Adam joke: Norm: Did you know David Lynch likes our show? Adam: That's strange, even for David Lynch. Then there's the head waiter here 2:56:40

the super dave episode was the greatest start to the greatest talk show in history.
One of my favourite episodes, that and Gilbert Gottfried.
I read this with super dave voice
You read that!?
aside from daves voice EEHWHWHO WRORTE THIS?????
I wish there was something like it to watch, but it’s impossible to replicate
The more i hear about this norm Macdonald guy the more I like him. I hope he doesn’t get sick
He's more virus than host
"He died?? I didn't even know he was sick!"
Irony is Norm MacDonald leaving his dog house in his will to Andy Dick.
My only regret in life is that there aren't 8, 12, or even 16 hours of blue card jokes.
Some of the greatest comedy.
Or even 16 and a half hours of blue card jokes, can you imagine that?
I think Super Dave’s outrage in the first episode was partly playing along and partly genuine concern for Norm’s career.
Little did it matter, Norm would be dead within the decade!
To be fair Super Dave bit the dust before Norm.
It was mostly joking around, but I'm sure he was being genuine when he tells him he deserves better.
From what I understand Dave wrote some of the more heinous ones then feigned disgust, brilliant.

I love Norm's incredible indecisiveness over whether or not the guests should be reading ahead.
seems to be quite guest dependent
@@benshakesontheflooryeh, Ray Romano is the exception that proves the rule. 😄
if you did comedy you'd get why
I think Norm wanted people's delivery to be as bad as the joke and just having everyone laughing together in the moment.
“little did it matter, croce would be dead within the year”
4 minutes in and already weeping with laughter
"Well, Nine eleven."

Very well said.
I object to your classification of Eget as a “straight man”
Yes, except for Sandler who got nothing but recycled jokes from other episodes. Not sure what that’s about but I can’t believe it was unintentional
WAS IT???
It really was his magnum opus. I know he'd think that would sound ridiculous, but it's genius for so many reasons. He said once that there's a difference between making people laugh and making people smile. The jokes the guests tell that are tailored to their style/personality covers both of those.
The most brilliant thing I've ever heard Adam say: there's people out there that might not know what a concentration camp is.
Another good Adam joke:
Norm: Did you know David Lynch likes our show?
Adam: That's strange, even for David Lynch.
Then there's the head waiter here 2:56:40
That is actually a great joke, you’re right
that's cause he's a holocaust denier!
When he said "Toward the end?" when that woman with a dog was on
Someone asked me if I knew what a concentration camp was and I had to think real hard about it while I made smores
I play this everynight when I lay down to sleep. And I wake up so refreshed.
I would laugh too much to sleep to this.
The best part of these are when they ask Norm who wrote them and he either ignores them or vehemently denies writing them if they imply he did.
"Wha?? Huh?"
Or says they were 'written years ago'.
super dave just straight up not reading the very first joke ever on the show is so fitting
