My guess is that Shane and Luis discovered a common interest when touring that they both dig history, specifically American history, specifically revolutionary wsrnstuff and then even more specifically the Presidents, so Shane probably tried getting him on the pod, Luis wouldn't want to, but agreed on doing a history pod since NO personal or current events have to talked about at all.

I don't normally watch this, but the third wheel guy is actually doing a ton of heavy lifting in this. He's Keanu. He's the odd man out who needs this all explained to him so that we the audience can be told all these things without it feeling unnatural. He's doing a great job at it too.

Yes, it's such a pleasure to listen to CK talk on any subject. No disrespect to CK's interlocutors, but I'm not sure he needs the other guys. Sally was Jefferson’s late wife’s sister. Jefferson had a great relationship with his wife and father-in-law. When Jefferson’s wife died, he remained in contact with the father-in-law and even was put into his Will. So when the father-in-law died, Jefferson inherited all of his property, which included slaves. One of his slaves was beautiful and reminded him of his late wife. Turns out Jefferson’s father-in-law was fooling around with his slaves and had a daughter (Sally). Sooo Sally looked like his late wife because they were sisters. The moral of the story, Sally was not related to him by blood. She was technically his half-sister-in-law.
I also read that the reason Martha didn't want TJ to remarry was because her own step mother had been beastly and she was afraid her children would be treated by their step mother as badly as she was by hers.

I had a buddy growing up who’s dad did sound mixing or some shit for some show that won some Emmys. He kept 2 on his living room shelf exactly like in this video, and took me until I was 18 to realize they weren’t just random little dinky trophies and were emmys.
C.K knows enough history and obviously has great chemistry with these guys, ...that I'm kinda surprised they don't bring him on once a month for a history style podcast. These are the best, ...love 'em Shane and Matt! Keep 'em coming PLEASE!!! Actually, Shane has enough historical knowledge to branch off and just do solely historical podcasts. Sally was Jefferson’s late wife’s sister. Jefferson had a great relationship with his wife and father-in-law. When Jefferson’s wife died, he remained in contact with the father-in-law and even was put into his Will. So when the father-in-law died, Jefferson inherited all of his property, which included slaves. One of his slaves was beautiful and reminded him of his late wife. Turns out Jefferson’s father-in-law was fooling around with his slaves and had a daughter (Sally). Sooo Sally looked like his late wife because they were sisters. The moral of the story, Sally was not related to him by blood. She was technically his half-sister-in-law.
I also read that the reason Martha didn't want TJ to remarry was because her own step mother had been beastly and she was afraid her children would be treated by their step mother as badly as she was by hers.
So Jefferson’s wife and new slave was hot because his father in law was so good looking? Kinda gay of Jefferson if you think about it

I had a buddy growing up who’s dad did sound mixing or some shit for some show that won some Emmys. He kept 2 on his living room shelf exactly like in this video, and took me until I was 18 to realize they weren’t just random little dinky trophies and were emmys.

These are the best, ...love 'em Shane and Matt! Keep 'em coming PLEASE!!! Actually, Shane has enough historical knowledge to branch off and just do solely historical podcasts. I know he's done a few, but they tend to be wayyy better than most of his regular style podcasts. I wouldn't complain if he started a "Shane Teaches History" pod.
