    I suffer from severe Ocd that was focused mostly on relationships. Now that theme seems not so important and stsrted focussing again in my health which was my second Ocd theme. It feels so scary and horrible, I have really bad anxiety though the day and find it hard to stay focused. I feel nervous, sad and desperate. I don't know why Ocd is so nasty and difficult to handle but it is true. I thought I had eliminated my second ocd theme but here it is now reminding me that it's not over yet. I wish it was all gone and could feel happy and relaxed again...

    Can OCD be about "What if I can't sleep early?" or "What if I can't sleep?", this happens to me on and off for maybe 3 years now, and now I think I'm battling HOCD and sometimes a little bit of POCD

      That's what I'm on now. And I gave into a compulsion last night that 'god told me not to do' and now I think he's punishing me and not letting me sleep. I got maybe 50 mins sleep last night as my anxiety was through the roof. Hence me thinking now 'must be true' I hear you! My ocd has latched onto having to do compulsions or I won't sleep.

    Hi Ali, its been 2 - 3 weeks since Iv taken your advice on disregarding the ocd thoughts. So far things have pretty much panned out as you explained they would, I had 2 - 4 days of being able to actually laugh at the thoughts and my fear reaction, rumination, and anxiety dropped significantly. Then my main theme ROCD and Harm OCD kept changing over, thoughts were almost constant and at times felt very real, but for a good few days I managed to mostly disregard, I was mentally exhausted but apart from the fatigue nothing bad happened!! eg I didn't go crazy and harm anyone and I didn't end my relationship ... then I had a set back, one night I could not sleep, my ocd changed theme to "your not going to sleep and your gonna be exhausted and collapse at work" it got to 4.30am and I was wracked with anxiety and still had not slept, so I was off work that day and felt so bad that I'd let the ocd beat me after I'd been doing so well. Doubts of never recovering crept in, but after watching Ali's video on setbacks I got back on track again. The next week and half were very up and down, OCD trying its best with ROCD and HARM ocd but Iv kept disregarding it, sarcastically agreeing with the thoughts and just pushing through no matter how bad I feel and despite anxiety rising high at times , still NOTHING bad has happened!! ... then last night came the derealization/depersonalization , it feels very scary but I still pushed through it and made myself have fun with family, phoned my mum to take my mind off ocd, then watched a movie despite having as anxiety in my chest,gut,arms and guess what ... NOTHING BAD HAPPENED!!!. Even now as I type this I have thoughts of omg I can't handle any more ocd thoughts today, but I'm not gonna wallow or ruminate on it, I'm getting out of bed NOW! I'm gonna force myself to interact with normal life, yes the OCD thoughts will come and try to bully and scare me into being a panicked crippled mess but I'm gonna keep fighting!!! Iv suffered with this for almost four years now and a few months ago I nearly lost everything to OCD , luckily I was strong enough to come back from rock bottom and thank god I found these videos, so guys keep fighting!!! I realize Iv still got a long hard fight on my hands but I am getting there and in just 3 weeks Iv got so much wiser and stronger in fighting OCD, Iv come so far to where I was a few months ago. If I can do this you can too!!! ... Also if it helps anyone, my ROCD started after a close dear relative suddenly passed away, it was very traumatic, grief turned to depression and the ocd crept in.
    Thanks Ali for these videos, they really are so so so helpful, you are amazing! Keep up the great work!!

      OMG I wanna cry because what your writing is exactly what aim going through. I thought I was doing something wrong in my recovery because my thoughts keep on changing left and right when in actual I’m doing this right. Just the anxiety and ocd will keep pushing thoughts on to me to get myself to react.
      I too am having the I cannot handle ocd thoughts anymore but I still keep on pushing everyday no matter what. Than I’m like hey nothing happened like the million other times. Gotta say anxiety and ocd are very sneaky. But we can get so much better and into recovery as long as we put in the root and effort. I’m fucking tired of having my anxiety and off taking over my life that I want to claim my life back and live my life with the new me:)

      @@CoolLatiasLatios keep pushing through, since I last posted, I have got alot better. Lots of ups n downs, some good days, some bad days but overall thoughts are less powerful and I pretty much disregard and laugh at them all now. Anxiety mostly reduced as well to a two. Keep pushing through, keep following Ali's advice and you will get there!

      kr1z M1tchell OMG Thats amazing time hear:) I am so happy with your progress:) That’s what I need to be ok with to the good, bad, up and down and understand that it’s very normal to have these!
      Thank you because I will keep on going❤️❤️❤️ I cannot wait until I laugh at them because like my god even though they are really scary I know that it’s just my mind protecting me. I cannot wait until I laugh at them LOL.
      I am so happy I discovered Ali’s YT channel last week. I wish I discovered her sooner because out of all the OCD video’s I saw Ali is the best. I wish I discovered her weeks ago when OCD got really bad and turned into harm ocd or now as I know it’s normal like many things the mind is trying to keep me safe.
      Oh yes my anxiety has been getting so much better that I don’t care about anymore. But because my ocd got worse my anxiety came back really badly again after accepting many other things like health and pain. At the time I had no idea that this was ocd (weeks ago intrusive thoughts) when the harming thoughts keep coming in. I knew I had it but I thought ocd was just for compulsion like I used to do like washing hands so many times. So now it’s not to scary that I know what is going on. But because I’m so used to defaulting you fear is now when I need to put in all my best efforts no matter how difficult it is❤️🥰💪

      hi! may i ask, how did you cope with the depersonalization/derealization?

    • @kr1zm1tchell50
      @kr1zm1tchell50 3 года назад +1

      @@loveontour223 hi, it's difficult but when you have that horrible sensation of nothing feels real that comes with anxiety you simply need to start disregarding the sensation and all its accompanying thoughts. So even though you feel very strange simply think to yourself very sarcastically "ok OCD of course nothing is real, ooohh these horrible sensations really make all the lies your telling me so so true! Wow OCD you are such a fountain of truth LOL". With practice and hard work you will see your anxiety reduce and gradually the thoughts/sensations will become more tolerable and with time and continuous application of sarcastically disregarding you will be able to disregard and laugh at the thoughts and sensations until they no longer bother you. Good luck!

    Ali, I have come so far in recovery thanks to you. A year ago I was crippled with pure o thoughts that made living life very difficult. I used your methods and am in a much better place. In fact that’s what brings me to my question. I sometimes get the urge to think back on ocd thoughts that use to really bother me and now that I do not get these false memories like I used to I can’t understand how back then I believed these false memories so intensely. This gives me a lot of anxiety because it makes me feel like I was a bit crazy or something back then to feel and think the way I did and that just leads me to feel as if maybe I could have done something in the past and not remember because I was crazy or something. I just do not get how I am put in situations that use to make me have horrible false memories and now I’m not triggered at all but back then I was sure I was doing something awful. This is really holding me back from fully moving on.

    I have harm ocd an but so two days now I've been getting existential ocd. Regarding reincarnation... I don't like the idea of dying an forgetting my loved ones an becoming someone else. It's just as bad as harm ocd. I understand Ocd attacks what you love. So I say that to myself. But yeah maybe I just wanted to express that here. I like to think we have a choice in the matter of reincarnation that tends to make me more calm a bit but I get that urge to research. Like Google other people's opinions....... I kinda did that early an ali your right it only makes things worse.. I have a PlayStation 4 an I have your pod cast on spotify I listen to it whenever I get like this, or I watch your vids, it has helped me alot. I want to say thank you an to everyone here who watches the vids an comments because your experiences help me to.

      gil: am so deprressed and fed up too. I started doing recovery work on september, when i finally admitted i have ocd. And i started disregarding thoughts every moment and it worked, i felt really less anxious for the first time in years and my days started looking brighter. But then one cursed evening my ocd struck me with high anxiety and i felt helpless to fight and the next day everything i have worked on is gone, all the anxiety and bad feelings came. I felt bad so much that i hate my life. I am far away from my family and i only have my husband here. He is also very worried about my situation. I started on meds cos i felt that i will never feel calm. And started doing ErP and my first theme started to feel easy but yesterday i had this strange thought about religion, it hit me like a bullet in my head. Here i am now awake at 6 am very scared and depressed about my life and i dont really know if this has an end at all. It feels like all my dreams of living a happy life is shattering infront of me. My God i dont know where to go or what to do!y
