Since .308 is pretty much THE rifle cartridge, it fits. But yes, 5.56/.223 and .22LR are also very prominent for their specific fields. But with you going for "RIFLES", i think this is a good coincidence to happen.
The DKS was my favourite weapon in all of Fo3, so I was delighted when it appeared in 4. Since that day it has never left my LO and I am fairly confident that it won't ever. The Garand mod is a good one too from experience. Though I have since removed it from my LO in favour of other more modern (style of weapons as opposed to age of mod) alternatives. The others I will have to check out in future playthroughs...
I’d highly recommend the Unofficial Update patches for the DKS, M1 Garand and SVT as well! Fixes a lot of bugs with the initial mods, streamlines the attachments and integrates Munitions support.
The Navy experimented with 308 conversions for the M1 Garand and aftermarket 308 conversions are pretty common today. So, a 308 Garand is very realistic.
I personally use the m1 and the dks, good mods but they both have problems with see through scopes. The M1's see through scopes are misaligned and are a little low, whereas the dks has see through scope compatibility but it was based off the old version of see through scopes and isn't updated for the new version so it does technically work it's just hard to see through.

Later M1 garands, during and after Korea, staring with the US Navy issued rifles, were converted to .308 or 7.62 NATO. they initially had problems because it was just a breech plug put in, sometimes it would extract with a spent case... but they eventually started building them in .308 before the M14 was widely adopted. so technically, the M1 in game that fires .308 is historically accurate, just not for WWII. there's also a "Laser Garand" mod that I highly recommend.
The DKS mod was released early on during 4's modding scene, and it's so damn good that further updates or versions have never really been needed. It fits seamlessly into Fallout 4, to the point that I consistently forget that it wasn't part of the original game.

You can get both the SVT-40 and M1 Garand along with a bunch of other weapons by AsXas in his bundle "A Bundle of Tape" (comes with those as well as the Crude Blowback, Handmade Revolver, Varmint Rifle and Concrete Sledgehammer). This is recommended since that has an unofficial update made by codeblackcrash.
The sniper rifle mod there is amazing, level listed and you can find it in varying questionable states, a dedicated sniper rifle in semi auto is just absolute choice. Though when it comes to weapon mods, the ones that plagues fallout 4's weapon mods list are player exclusive weapons, doubly so if the modder decides that the lee enfield shouldn't be 308 but should be accurate, 303.
I’ll use naming Mods for these weapons to rename them using Bethesda’s naming scheme: SVT = Russian Battle Rifle, M1 Garand = Battle Rifle. You get the idea. There’s a bunch out on the Nexus. There’s also “(Lore Friendly) Weapons Project” by DankRafft which makes more modern guns fit better into the world if you’re into that.
I love that there are so many different gun mods but I wish that there was an all in one mod that combines all the guns so we don’t have to download 20 different mods….I’m already at about 350 mods in total and I know I can’t push it much further
If you wanna build a load order with a ton of weapons I’d recommend learning about xedits esl flagging, compacting form ids for esl, check for plugins that can be esl flagged, functions and all the pros and cons and dos and donts follow the guidelines properly because you can really mess up your game if you don’t and it’s way to complicated to explain in a RUclips comment section but I got over 1000 plugins in a stable game once I got the hang of it
Don't think anyone ported the g67 battle rifle to Xbox, but then again that search is temperamental..... That dks501 looks a bit like the combat rifle some of those barrels and stocks would make a cool addition.
M1 Garands are commonly chambered in 308. They even have 308 m1 garands on the CMP occasionally. I want a tanker 308 Garand so I can make a clone of Ian's customs garand from forgotten weapons.

The leveled list patch for the Gewehr crashes my game for some reason which sucks because I'd love to use the gun. Not much point to install it if it doesn't appear on NPCs though

Just wanted to let u know something funny. The Geweher 43 and its predecessor the 41 were actually German recreations of captured SVT-40 rifles. So ur first mod is actually a German copy of ur second mod. Idk why I find that funny but I do.
hi, I have a problem I just relaunched fallout 4 today and I can no longer access the mod I am on series x and the last time I played on my mode c part was two or three ago months and I don't know what to do I restarted my console and still the same problem, it tells me the operation could not be completed, if someone can tell me why or help me that would be nice.

I love the G67 Battle Rifle, but I do wish there was an HD retexture for it.
I mean there was a .308 conversion for the M1 Garand used by the Navy and by NATO countries, and .308 Repros, so a .308 M1 never bugged me.

the DSK is based on the Fallout 1, 2 and 3 and NV semi auto rifles, of course it fits.

the only problem with the m1 garand that is 100 percent game limitations is the reload. its a little funky
The CW people have the "sniper rifle" built into their weapons lists which is the DKS as a more generic version of it.
That is the M1C Garand, it is a flash suppressed sniper variant of the M1 Garand.
