Beefed up the deep drop rig and tackle and things went a little smoother this time. Also managed to pick up a couple opelu at dawn that got hammered right away when I put them out for the troll back from the depths.

Taking on water! I have an idea that might help you siphon out water from the back of you kayak. By building a pvc fitting through your rear hatch. Inside pvc goes to the bottom. Outside pvc attached to a flex hose the goes under your seat with a cap. When you take on water just connect you siphon pump to the flex hose and pump the water out. Just an idea. Lmk if you want more details I can share.

“Would the system you use be in the way of your fish bag”? Depends on how you build it. The system is being taken from sailboat which has a building bilge hand pump, all they do is pump the water by hand. Your through hull does have to come from the rear hatch. It could come from the mid hatch or from near your seat. I would love to take a look at your boat to see how best to fit your bilge pump. I’m at volcano and meet anywhere even at the harbor after one of your fishing trip. Just lmk.

You know it's a good day with the shibi are an after thought catch. Unreal, you just started deep dropping and have caught the best eating fish - gindai, hogo and opakapaka on this trip and hapu'upu'u on the previous trip. You're making it look too easy!
I've always wanted to deep sea fish from the yak so its been a blast! Was just right place right time for those shibis I couldn't believe it lol.

Its 12 lb trunk and 10 lb branches so I think just got super lucky where it hooked up! Is 10 oz what you used? I might try lol cuz the 2 lb is pretty nuts.
