On day 1, the opelu bite was insane, but there was almost no pelagics around. On day two, there were mahi everywhere but I couldn't get a single opelu until they left. Luckily, I had my deep drop gear and wanted to test my new Avet MXL 2 -speed anyway.

Amazing how a good reel makes fishing easier. Great video, enjoy the reel. Can’t wait to see all the fish it brings up.
Most definitely! Definitely worth the extra $! Thanks and it's already put in some work on some 50 lb YFTs hope to see how it handles a 100 lb fish someday 🤙
Action from down undah!! Good that we all went home with fish!! 🤙🏾🤙🏾
Yeah man good day out there! I owe u a live bait lol
@@AffordableWahoo 😆🤙🏾🤙🏾🤙🏾
Another nice one! See you out there soon!
Big island get action!! Crushing it..
Haha yeah something seems to come along and save the day more often than not. Thanks man and keep it up over there too 🤙🤙
That half gindai just enough for one serving sinigang (Filipino tamarind soup). I, too, would be all over that. Haha! Two year old video still awesome, Bro.
Oh yeah gindai is so underrated! Hoping to find some this year too
Mean bottom fishing action! That Avet reel is super sexy, how do you know when to use low or high gear?
So nice when they biting! The Avets are great reels for the price. Can feel when the high gear is kinda grinding so thats when I change to low. Really great for winching up Kahala and sharks!
Just a heads up once on take the clicker off so it doesn't wear it out.
You adapted to the new Avet instantly! Who needs an electric reel when you have that winch of a low gear coupled with the long t-bar handle. Loving the deep drop content Shea.
Thanks it really is a strong little reel!
Awesome video! What’s the canister on your fishing line above the hooks on clip 13:00? Thanks
Thanks! It's a Promar water-activated LED strobe. I like the "Disco" color best 🤙
@@AffordableWahoo Do you only turn it on when it’s dark or all the time?
Its always on as long as its in water. I do always use it because it's always dark down there.
Sweet video. I love the variety.
Many thanks! 🤙
Alright I gotta ask what is the blue foam on your hat for?
It's to keep my hat and gopro afloat if it falls in the water!
I had no idea you could still score yellow fin in the summer
Yeah they're kinda year round here. I think the really big ones are more seasonal though 🤔
@@AffordableWahoo I'm on Oahu, I troll Yo Zuri deep divers behind my sailboat outside of Kaneohe Bay and land shibis but I seem to only get them in the winter months.
Wonder if its more seasonal in some areas and less so in others? Shifting currents, availability of forage, etc probably vary depending on location.
Does your buddy that you fish with post videos too?
Louie does on @Louie Tres Fishing!
Little tip, when you feel the first bite let some slack out and let more join the party for one full stringer 🤙🏾
I like the sound of that thanks for the tip 🤙
@@AffordableWahoo I deep drop on kauai, works pretty well for me
Nice bunch of gindai! What size branches/leader for the bottom rig? Looks like 50lb+....Strong enough to bring up those kahala lol...
Thanks was some unexpected action 🤣 I use 100 lb test Ande. Tried 80 and the kahalas snap it.
@@AffordableWahoo Ok, I figured it was fairly heavy and looks like ono belly is the winning bait. Btw, I'm envious of the waters you guys fish, so ridiculously calm....
@@shinnosuke150 Yeah ono, ahi, and kawakawa belly are all winners. I have mahi belly but haven't tried it yet. Can't complain about the water here though it does take patience waiting for those nice days sometimes 😂
The ratchet on the new reels are mean! Your wife is expert level at getting fish blood off of white clothing 😂
Yeah man can't wait to hook an ono on it! Gonna be loud haha
Good job (turn off the clicker:)
Thanks man. I leave it on by choice then turn it off when I think the fish is done running.
@@AffordableWahoo I’m in Kona-if you wanna fish….
Gindai 🟰 ono! Good one bro! Need to make the marine division since the boss is away. 😂
Lol yeah man it's me and my wife's favorite steam fish by far. Too late for get the boat the boss is back already haha
@@AffordableWahoo yup
Action from down undah!! Good that we all went home with fish!! 🤙🏾🤙🏾
