Yeah in the Kenosha Wi harbor around when the trout and salmon spawn the fish stack up in the harbor here they come the Ruskies with 2 fists of rods taking up 9 spots and using crank baits with oversized hooks snagging the fish. No care in the world.
These comments I swear they are so dumb. Do you not think we injure the fish when WE HOOK IN THEIR MOUTH AND THEY FREAK OUT? Like holy sht??? Why do you pretend you are so morally superior. We fish. Get over it
Is this a cultural thing? I noticed the same thing here in the PNW. These old russian guys will crowd you out from the hole your fishing at. They cast over your line, over and over, causing tangles with other fishermen. They don't follow river etiquette. They'll set their hook sideways and end up banging their rod onto others. And when you call them out they don't respond back or murmur something in Russian.
Yes this is completely normal behavior in Russia. Survival of the fittest if you will. It’s the worst when it’s a pack of them. Then for sure they’ll run you off from your spot.
I know some old Russians that fishes nicely. So I don't believe it is cultural. I believe it has more to do with the willingness to learn river etiquette in the area you're fishing. I could be wrong though :)
The fact that there are 5 guys all fishing within casting distance is wrong. If they aren't with me and I was there first I would walk though their section.
I had a similar experience. A guy was illegally snagging paddlefish out of season in addition to largemouth bass. I let him know it was out of season and that the fine was $8000. He continued and caught a big paddlefish. I noticed that he had a camera so I offered to take his picture. After taking the picture I left and called the authorities. I gave him a description and told him about the camera. He laughed and said,”that should do it “.
