I got to the display and stood there for about two and a half hours recounting the 40 years that Van Halen has been my life sound track. We the British tax payer pay to keep them and their castles and Palaces and mansions...that said as far as I know none of the Queens inbred offspring have released and decent albums...Dave on the other hand was a great front man...I like Sammy...ok so sometimes he does remind me of someone who is constipated lol...but Dave was to Van Halen what Bon Scott was to AC-DC...he's essence of the band...apart from Eddie...Eds the main man...without him Dave would just be another loudmouth in a cheesy hair metal band...
You should go by Victory Park in Pasadena; that's where we all hanged out in 1969-1970. Eddie could not come out at night but Alex used to hang with us. We all hung out at the "mound" near the tennis courts.
You totally missed staying focused on those stairs coming down to the lower yard at Roth's. That's where one of the early pictures was taken. The four of them standing on the stairs. It was probably taken around 76. You can find it on Google. The lights are on and cars going by but the whole Sunset area just looks dead. I don't know but it's not the same kinda foot traffic and action you would have seen in better days. Like the 80's and earlier.
Don’t know if you saw it but “Dave” is engraved in the cement just outside his house next to the curb. Not sure if he did it or someone else. I’ve never seen the gate open either. You have perfect timing!!

Another awesome vid Jeff - On various biz trips to the LA area the past several years I went on such adventures to all the mega locations, studios, venues, etc. of the music era we love so much - The Whiskey, The Troubadour, Rainbow Bar and Grill, Roxy, and so on - Even had a couple of Jack and Cokes sitting in Lemmy's old spot - Saw a lot of shows at The Whisky on those trips as well - Super cool to feel the rock vibe there visualize the amount of energy on the strip back then, so many looking for their big break and record contract... \m/

My friend and I went up Coldwater Canyon and almost pulled in but felt we were stalking. I believe the entrance on Coldwater Canyin is unmarked. Where you filled was probably after entering that unmarked entrance to the compound.
