I saw Van Halen in June of 1981 at the Fabulous Forum on Michael Anthony’s birthday. The loudest concert I’ve been to. In 2002, I was working for Pacific Sales doing appliance installation, and I have a stop on my route that has the last name of Anthony on the order. Low and behold, as I’m pulling up to the house, there’s a guy waiting for me standing on a grassy knoll. As I approach him, he started to look familiar to me. I get out of my truck, and I say holy shit you’re Michael Anthony. I installed a washer and dryer in his house. He was so cool, and he gave my an autographed picture that I have on my wall. I miss him in Van Halen.
That’s amazing!!!!!! My brother use to live in LA and he delivered flowers to Valerie Bertinelli from Eddie. He told me last week that he met Valerie, Wolfgang and Eddie at their house in Malibu at some point when he lived out their. He told me he is going to tell me the story about it when he sees me. He moved back to Philly recently, Finally!!!! I can’t wait to see him next few days to hear the story. I’ll post it up here. Hopefully he has photos. He was in a metal band and he restores rare classic cars. Some were featured in movies and videos . My brother Nikki and I were best friends and went to all the rock and metal concerts together.

There are not very many artists that in a 100 years down the road that their name will still be known Eddie Van Halen is one of those artists that his name will be known 100 years from now!
Before I saw this video, I had never heard what Eddie's voice sounded like. I just feel a sense of sadness knowing now that only after his death I know what he sounded like...
Eddie's unique skill was not the flash playing of things like Eruption, etc----- but beyond that it was his infinite compositional inspiration----- there would be more musical structure in any 8 bars of any one of his songs than there is in 90% of songs written by other bands. guitar or piano -- didn't matter -- he fit chords and rhythms and melody together more like a classical composer than a guy writing rock songs-- listen to Dreams --- each song is a harmonic little journey through the Elysian fields of the celestial music that was always playing in his head- ----- his ability to capture these fleeting impressions from that inner world was the result of a lifetime of dedication and discipline -- that's why there may be a lot of flash guitar players come down the pike, but there will never be another songwriter composer and arranger and performer like Edward Van Halen. entropy has taken over the gene pool.
September 16th and 17th 1976 whiskey gogo I was there it's nice to see Eddie facing the audience when he plays guitar when he was signed up with Warner Brothers love you always remember Phil slaymaker
Thanks for the comeback from September 16th 1976 before the days Eddie Van Halen always played guitar with his back towards the audience wow David Lee Roth your uncle's club upstate New York party Town I used to live in Rochester New York rrrrrrrrrrr⛵😎
Truth be told, Hagar is a legend! When I think of Montrose, I think of Hagar as a front man! I don't feel that way with Halen! David Lee Roth was and forever will be the lead singer of Van Halen!
Talking bout summer nights... August 1980 San Juan PR. My first concert WACF world invasion tour... ($12.00 ticket) Summer 2015 Cuyahoga Falls Ohio, my last Van Halen concert ($250.00 plus...ticket) Thanks to them I’ve been playing drums and keys since 1980. Rest In Peace Ed.
I was there when Cameron Crowe hung out at my high school researching the material for Fast times. The 2 people that he based the character on that was Mike Damone were nothing at all like that. Spicole. S was the combo of 3 people Jeff Nicoli, Jeff Gauci and one other I cant remember. They were much more of a fit.
Thank you Mr. Van Halen for the music you gave us, in my honest opinion there are eight wonders of the world and you are number one, thank you for coming to charlotte, nc, pnc arena 2015, and rendering the best musical performance I ever witnessed with your axe, you didn't pass away, you just morphed into your music, you truly are the musician we needed but didn't deserve, thank you, I love you sir, God bless you.
Did you catch Eddie and Sammy warming up backstage Eddie makes his guitar sound like a horse and then an elephant trumpeting. Just a quick example of why DLR calls him the "guitar hero"! RIP EVH. We will miss you! JR
that record by Brand x in 1980 is called "Do They Hurt", and he used an arpeggio from one of the tunes on that record called "Voidarama" partially in his guitar intro on 1984's Top Jimmy. I knew it the first time I heard Top Jimmy back in 1984-86. John Goodsall is the guitarist in Brand X that EVH took the idea from. The good ones borrow and the great ones steal!!

80’s ... best musical era ever ! ❤️ Tkss Eddie ! 🙏❤️
I love how Ed sometimes played things so awesome that he couldn't replicate it! 😎🎸
Van Halen = innovators/geniuses and Rock Royalty
100% YES!
I am so happy that Eddie and Sammy Patched things up
I got to see Van Halen 2 different times. Each with Sammy and Eddie. Miss you Eddie. Thanks for the memories.
Sammy’s words as a collective “we’ll never break up/always be together”...famous last words...sad.
In 88 July I think it was.I met 3/4ths of Van Halen in Denver at Embassy suites Mike,Alex, and Eddie(the Murtha fuckn man)Van Halen.they were the nicest most down to earth guys u could ever meet.God bless and rest in peace Eddie. And my deepest sympathy to his son Wolfgang and the rest of his family. You will be greatly missed sir we love u .
Hello dear how are you doing over there ?
we miss you eddie
Ok I'm still in love with these guys!loving ur music.
What a dedicated bassist!!! I'm very sorry Michael!!! You were done wrong!!!! Rip Edwin
Edwin?
I miss THAT band
Back when they had fun doing it. Love these jerks.
Eddie was very athletic in his prime, ripped arms.
Yeah, and yet he manage to play perfectly.
And to think that Ed was every bit as good a songwriter/composer, as he was a lead guitar player....
That's a whole lotta talent, right there.
Really love all these great interviews. Thank You, Eddie.
Eddie was Van Halen. CAN never replace him. Tip
True, but so was Roth? The two worked musically!
Ironically, David Lee Roth is Van Halen more than either Van Halen brother, or the young one on bass.
Sammy in a good hair phase here too, when it’s long. Eddie at his cutest.
Great footage!! Van Halen RULES!!!
Could'nt agree more mate.
Yeah, they used to...
The song has ended but the melody lingers on.
Thank you for sharing yourself & your talent with all of us Eddy.
AINT TALKIN BOUT LOVE ---- RIP --- EDDIE

OH BOY STOP THE CLOCK ! JUST WANNA ROCK / BRAVO TO 4 GREAT GUY'S AND TO A DIAMOND IN THE SKY .. A LEGEND VAN HALEN R.I.P IN HEAVEN VAN HALEN .BRAVO.
Truth be told, Hagar is a legend! When I think of Montrose, I think of Hagar as a front man! I don't feel that way with Halen! David Lee Roth was and forever will be the lead singer of Van Halen!
Bam... mic drop. Well said..
PS. Love me some Montrose!! ✌️💜
Nailed it !!! Don't like van hagar at all !!! Roth was the front man 👊
DLR- Lead Singer on the VH albums
DLR - Lead Dancer in the VH Concerts
Aint Talkiin Bout Love, that is the real VH sound to me.
God bless Eddie Van Halen. God bless and God rest his soul. May his music live forever!
He's immune to the winds of time.
The Dutch Master did a Heavenly job. 😂
Alex Van Halen/Mike Damone from Fast Times At Ridgemont High???
Robert romanus played Mike damone in fast times.
Hilarious . You nailed it !
I thought I was the only one who recognized that, but absolutely correct man!
spooky call!
Why people have this infatuation for alcohol and drug abuse is mind blowing. They must know the story will not end good.
Because it makes us feel goooood
@@morningstar577 do the hangovers feel good?
@@thetruthhurts6652 yes and then we just do it all over again.
Sammy is Awesome!! Seen him many times!! Even got on stage with him for Marching to Mars!! Always been my Favorite!! God bless you Sammy
Did you catch Eddie and Sammy warming up backstage Eddie makes his guitar sound like a horse and then an elephant trumpeting. Just a quick example of why DLR calls him the "guitar hero"! RIP EVH. We will miss you! JR
Better times. History, hope Ed's doing well.
He has just passed away :( R.I.P
that record by Brand x in 1980 is called "Do They Hurt", and he used an arpeggio from one of the tunes on that record called "Voidarama" partially in his guitar intro on 1984's Top Jimmy. I knew it the first time I heard Top Jimmy back in 1984-86. John Goodsall is the guitarist in Brand X that EVH took the idea from. The good ones borrow and the great ones steal!!
Eddie will be missed! Saw them back for the Monsters of Rock, NJ freaking amazing!! So glad I had the chance to listen to the master of guitar 🎸 eruption freaking amazing... thanks for ride! 🎶🎸❤️✌️
