    I think the more reliable test would've been to remove the rocker cover before using the product to show the sludge and how hard it was. Then do the same after using the product for a few hundred miles and then one final time after an oil change. Otherwise, I'm not sure how accurate this is tbh

    Seafoam was super successful on my 1994 mk1 mx5 which produced thick blue oily smoke on cold starts. I poured a cap full down each cylinder and poured some in the crank case. Then swapped oil after 300miles. Then repeated again with fresh oil. It turn the fresh oil jet black within 200miles which shows how good it is at cleansing the engine of sludge (particularly from piston rings). After all of this my car no longer smoked on cold starts the the fresh oil stayed golden for way longer than it ever did.

    I see it mentioned a lot of US forums where they typically recommend such solutions and engine oil changes every 3,000 miles! 😮

    Great video and a Happy New Year to you. The slight advantage with Seafoam is that you can drive the car while it is working in the engine to help clean it. The flushing oils you get from Mannol and just about anywhere else, state you have to use them with the engine idling for 10-15 mins, which thins the oil but doesn't always get the sludge out.

    I run diesel cars and have done for the past 20 years. I do not follow the current extended oil change fad so prevalent with modern engines with anything from 15,000-24,000 mile oil changes. I stick to the 5,000 - 7,000 mile or annual change which ever comes first and all engines are run using ZX1 which cleans all friction surfaces by bonding to those surfaces displacing any build up of oil contaminants improving lubricity. I have never had any problems with sludge and all engines have remained remarkably clean and trouble free.

    I would suggest just changing the oil more often. A gentle clean up goes a long way rather than a flush. When my friend got a XC90 T6, the oil changes got completed very late. We did 3 changes at 500 miles and got the engine looking new. It did develop a huge leak from the front seal but we don't believe it was related to our frequent oil changes. The engine liked to run really hot and dried out all the seals. I noticed that the N52 also tends to run a hot head for emissions reasons. It will purposely slow the water pump and keep the tstat closed as long as possible to get maximum fuel economy and emissions. The side effect of this is all the gaskets and plastics under the hood turn into rock hard crap. I found the diesel actually doesn't run as hot under the hood because of the massive cooling they run.

    Royal purple engine oil cleans up internal components and gets rid of built up tarnish in the cylinder head and oil gallery’s best stuff I’ve used George. Put 5L in mine and after 3 months changed the oil and removed valve cover engine looked brand new in a civic ep3 type R even took away browning and yellowing of components and valve covers

  • @pisky1207
    @pisky1207 2 года назад +1

    Guess you can use both, first put Seafoam in and drive a few hundred miles, then put an engine flush before an oil change.
    Both might make wonders 👌
    Anyway that’s my plan, once my oil change is up in 2 months.

    I love Seafoam; but be warned that if the car has high miles, you do risk the possibility of producing a leak at a seal. I put some in the engine of a Volvo that I bought that had just shy of 300K kms on it. After running it for probably about 30 minutes and then shutting it down to "soak" overnight, I had a major rear main seal leak the next morning. Up until that time, the motor was pretty tight, so my only conclusion was that the Seafoam cleaned the engine so effectively that it cleared the sludge that was actually sealing up the engine at that seal. But Seafoam when used as directed is fantastic for cleaning carbon from the combustion chambers and the back of the valves when induced thru a vacuum line into the intake manifold. Plus the resulting dense smoke gets rid of every flying insect for hundreds of yards in every direction.
