  • Welcome to my diabetes channel! Let's talk about Ozempic, weight loss, side effects and I'll give you a 6 month update.
Chapters because this is a long one!
0:00 - Intro - don't forget to like and subscribe!
1:16 - Background on me, and LADA diagnosis
    3:29 - A1C update
5:19 - Ozempic Weight loss update
7:07 - What dosage of Ozempic am I on?
9:38 - Does Ozempic actually help with blood glucose management? (and my labs)
13:02 - Ozempic and nausea: how long does it take to go away?
16:10 - Do cravings go away?
18:32 - To sum it all up
I originally started taking Ozempic in November 2020, and have had gret results.
Lowered A1C from 10% to 7%, steady weight loss, more motivation to exercise and keep up my weight loss, better overall metabolic health, fewer food cravings, and more.
I'm curious if you've seen similar results with using Ozempic. Do you still keep losing weight beyond the first 6 months?
Additionally, it's been reported that Ozempic may be FDA-approved later in 2021 for obesity treatment. I'm interested in seeing how that shakes out.

I’ve been on Ozempic for over a year and I have not noticed any change. I am type 2 diabetes and now take insulin 1x a day (which could be responsible for not losing any weight). It would be amazing to get these results. But at the same time… it’s been a nightmare trying to get my meds when they were out of stock. I went for 2 months without.

Thank you for this video. I am considerably older than you and when younger was always in excellent physical shape (stomach flat as a board). But when I turned 60 or so, the AIC began to creep up and the meds my doc put me on caused considerable weight gain. I just started Ozempic today and felt no bad indicators at the .25 dose. It absolutely KILLED my appetite. Today I have eaten about 1/3 of what I would normally eat. I'll check back in with you in a few months. First off girl, your glasses are on point! Love them! I've been on it for a month and have lost 23lbs. Luckily I didn't experience any crazy side effects, but I do have bouts of nausea for 5 mins at the most and it goes away. I find it interesting I have a lot in common with a lot of people, I have PCOS, high blood pressure, diabetes II, irregular periods, hair growth on my freaking face, hair loss on my head, high cholesterol. Pretty much everything that CAN happen with PCOS has happened to me minus the acne (gotta be thankful for the small things). This medication is a godsend. I have little to no apatite. I get full quickly. But I still have a LONG way to go with my weight. One pound at a time....

I am looking into starting it today as a matter of fact. I'm 56 years old. Last year I started prepping for the Sleeve surgery around April/May, 2021. December 2, 2021 I had my surgery. My highest weight was 333.0 lbs. I lost about 65 on my own with the pre-op Hi-Protein, Low carb, low calorie diet. My weight at Surgery date was 276.4 lbs. April of 2022, my weight loss came to a stop at 243 lbs. I've been stuck around there to this date, weighing in this morning at 245.4, staying in that range of 245 - 250 lbs, respectively. Late January was when she had me discontinue my diabetes medication, Rybelsus, because my glucose levels were showing around 100 NPO and my A1C had dropped to around 5.9. Since then, I've stuck to the diet of 1000 - 1200 calories a day - 80 - 100 gms of protein daily, low carbs, no sugar, and getting my liquids in at average 70 oz + a day. Still. No weight loss. So, about last week, my doctor suggested Ozempic. I was Type 2 Diabetic and never on insulin. I've never taken an injection before and frankly, I'm a bit nervous. I'm scared of the side effects. I have some Promethazine anti-nausea on hand, so I guess I'm ready to try it.
I will try to keep you apprised. PS....you were right about being expensive. It was $1,070 for a 2 months supply, without insurance. With insurance and a coupon card, it came out to $115 and it took a literal act of congress to find it at a pharmacy. Thankfully, I found it at Walmart.

I cut back drastically on foods/drinks with sweeteners and I lost 30 lbs. I read that sweeteners damage your gut microbiome. A healthy gut microbiome allows you to maintain a healthy weight. Maybe that's why cutting out diet coke worked for you. I have PCOS as well but still lost weight.

Hi. I’m a doctor. The studies on saxenda showed a very small subset of patients had tachycardia. Saxenda and Ozempic are in the same class, glp 1 agonist , and the reason for the elevated heart rate is that there are receptors for Saxenda on your heart. I have not reviewed the clinical trials on Ozempic but it is foreseeable that this is class effect and Ozempic is responsible for your tachycardia

I have PCOS and diabetes. I just took my 4th dose of Ozempic yesterday. The nausea seems to come and go randomly. My A1C was 12.9 last month. I still haven’t had bloodwork but my sugar went from as high as 473 to 140’s. I’m excited to step up to .50mg next week but also cautiously because of that nausea. You look great! I haven’t tracked my weight so I’m not sure how much of any I’ve lost but I feel better. I’d recommend it to people who struggle with keeping that A1C down.

These are great options of high fibre, which you could try. Do let us know if either of these work for you on this journey. Best of luck. Marian

I lost 60 pounds in 6 months with a dairy free keto diet. I went from 200 lbs to 140 lbs. I eventually got down to 126 lbs with vegan keto.
I was around 18 and I maintained a low weight from 18 to 22 years old. Ive been struggling since because I got off keto because I got married and we were just going out to eat or buying take out all the time. My husband and his family are the types that can eat whatever and not get fat. I'm not like that.
I went on a second weightloss journey and went from 200 lbs to 143 lbs less than a year. But it was slower and harder than the first time on keto. I was 24 to 25 at the time. I gained weight again because my husband got a new job and I no longer work at all and after work he would take me out to eat.
Right now I am 26 and around 185 lbs. And I will tell you this has been the hardest weightloss journey ever. I have to be a bit more extreme. I'm on a O carb keto carnivore diet. But I'm also looking into ozempic or others like it. I promised myself I will never deviate from my diet ever again, I hate being more than 150 lbs. I'm 5'5. Between 125 to 135 lbs is where I would like to stay for good!
We're getting a new health insurance this month. Hopefully they will cover it and give me at least a 4 to 6 month supply.

I've watched your videos and appreciate all of this. I've been on ozempic 1 yr.
I lost 29lbs. and now I've gained back 10lbs. It's not working anymore at .50 dosage. I have trouble with the same symptoms. I'm afraid to go up to 1. I'm just down bcuz it's not working anymore. Can handle more food now like it's not working anymore. All the symptoms have stopped. Nausea was pretty bad. I'm so glad it's working for you. So I don't know how long it works. At 1 year it's not working anymore. 1st month was the worst! I'm bummed out now. 180 down to 150. Back to 160. Definitely nausea is the worst! Thanks again. 🙂💖🌹

Thank you for posting your journey I am about to take my next injection moving up my dosage to the .5. I did see your last video about this jump and I cannot thank you enough for sharing this. I have an amazing doctor who has shared with me things to expect but it helps so much to hear from someone experiencing it. I’m type 2 since 2019. I’m also on the journey of bariatric surgery as well. This medication is just another way for us to keep moving on this journey of weight loss. Upon my first diagnosis I was able to bring my A1C down from almost 11 to 5 on my own in 6 months. I lost some weight but thru covid I gained a lot of that back and so I’m glad my doctor has been working alongside me to decide the best ways to keep going. I’m Native American and so seeing diabetes find it’s way into my life was heartbreaking at first but now I feel it’s really centered my connection to my physical body in a way that I never appreciated before. Even though I still do plan to get surgery I hope that ozempic will help me be in the best place for recovery and other things I’ll experience after surgery.
Anyway, thank you for sharing your journey. It has been so very helpful. I’ll keep a good watch for this next dosage, so, good looking out!

I have always had a large frame at 12 years old i weighed 124lbs but i was already 5'07". There was a medical procedure/donation that ruined my life, just as advice when you're asked to sign a waiver before a procedure maybe think twice.😢because no one can return your complete health back, specially without medications. Many blessings to all.

Hello, thank you for making this review. I started my Ozempic 5 days ago on Friday July 2nd 2021. Today is Wednesday July 7th 2021 and when I first injected myself I felt this cool sensation kind of like the feeling you get after you brush your teeth and gargle with mouth wash. That is the cool sensation I felt in my stomach on the injection side. Now, today on the 5th day I did experience the nausea for the first time. So I will see how the rest of my first month will go. Everything you have experienced that you've stated in the video has been right on. I am also on phentermine along with my Ozempic. I have lost a total of 24lbs since May 30th 2021 when I started on phentermine and currently taking both since July 2nd 2021.

I've lost 7.5kg (15 pounds) over 10 weeks on Ozempic. In Australia I only pay AUD$165 per pen (one month of doses) approx US$125. We have Medicare (a universal health system). It blows my mind that the USA *still* doesn't have universal health care. (You all need to lobby your representatives). In Australia, we are also able to purchase private health cover, while still accessing Medicare. I'm pretty sure the balance of any medication over AUD$40 can be claimed back on top cover private health care. Australia is one of the best countries in the world. 🇦🇺

But I’m a lineman and I climb poles and also I walk a lot at work, basically a mixture of driving physical activity. But yes I have been eating bad sometimes and Ozempic does remind me if that food is that bad. Lol. My worry is if my Doctor ever takes me off ozempic will I gain the weight back? Also can you be taken off Ozempic?

I just stumbled upon your two month check up video and watched it through to the end and I must say you are a wealth of information and inspiration!!! You should do diabetes education as a career, or volunteer position if you already have a different career, if you don’t already because you break things down into the bite-size pieces that helps people learn the best. I am a registered nurse and truly loved your explanation of the type of diabetes that you have!! I will also say that there is pretty much no information available, to the general public, and that is where you and people like you could be a Godsend for those out there who have nowhere to turn for information and the medical level information is way to complex for them. The medical field NEEDS educators like you, I do hope that you will consider it in some small way. You look absolutely fantastic and I only hope that you feel better and better, in your body and at whatever the right weight might be for you, each and every day. Take care 😊❤️

I became a diabetic after giving birth to my 2 soon to be 3yr old son. I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes during my pregnancy. I got up to 300lbs. I’m currently at 225 and I have struggled with loosing weight so my doctor wanted me to try ozempic so here I am. I’m also taking Metformin 2 times daily each week it will increase. My goal is not only to loose the weight but not having to be a diabetic. I lost my mom due to diabetes she was only 47 years old so of course it scares me.
