Antonio, someone has probably asked already, but is it possible to take a lined jacket and have the lining removed and/or replaced? I live in a subtropical climate and finding a suit that doesn't bake me is difficult.
This is one of your most informative videos, I think. You're right about an unlined jacket denoting higher quality, as it requires the seams to be taped. Skeleton lining seems to appear more on American jackets than on those made in Western Europe, which much indicate their colder temperatures. I liked seeing the inside of your jackets, but it really stuck out to me how enormous your armholes were. Is that just your personal preference, or does your company cut all of their jackets that way?
I prefer unlined. If you live anywhere in the USA, it's hot as hell in the summer time. I live in the southern USA....travel between mississipppi and texas, so lined is crazy. Maybe quarter lined or none at all. It's only really cold in Dec, Jan and Feb. Then, I'm wearing wool and maybe even a peacoat.
Very true. Even here in Michigan, the summers can be unbearable, so I have to have the lightest jackets in the summer. Can't imagine Mississippi and Texas!
I just bought a nice linen suit. Then after I took off the tags and got it altered, I found out about how polyester lining defeats the purpose of the jackets cooling properties. I'm about to rip out the lining from the back of the jacket and leave the chest + sleeves.
@@Eveningbreeze1 is dary grey wool blazers acceptable in the hot summer if it has no lining? I dont wanna sweat all over it and have to dry clean every week
Hi! Thank you for making this video. I live in Indonesia, a tropical region, 82 - 90 F during the day is usual. I sweat very easily. But I want to look sharp in a suit. Does unlined (skeleton jacket) have the same sharp silhouette as the lined jacket? What kind of material that do you suggest?
AJ Mak I would say go for linen, cotton, twill, poplin, seersucker, madras, and gauze for hot weather. Read more here: www.realmenrealstyle.com/hot-weather-dressing/
Hey Antonio Real Men Real Style , it's been hot here in KC and I wanted to ask, do you have a tutorial, or know of one, where I could take the lining out of an already lined jacked? I've been looking around all over the place for an unlined jacket I could wear for the remainder of the summer without having one custom made. I will probably get one before next year but for now, any tips?
Real Men Real Style I haven't unfortunately, I'll do that. Wasn't sure how "easy" the process would be. I'll just take it to someone. Thanks for the response!
Nice video, Antonio, thank you. Could you give me some hint when it comes to unlined coats? I was looking forward getting something less formal but still something more than just a casual, that i could combine it with almost whatever, from common projects and golden goose to burberry, saint laurent shoes etc.? I just took wool/cashmere navy fabric, need to make a good decision before i visit my tailor. I was thinking about fully unlined coat? Thanks mate and keep on good work!
+Jurgis Balinskas Unlined jackets are preferred in hot climates, unlined jackets are light and breathable. Keep in mind that summer jackets in light fabrics are bound to cost more than lined jacket.
Unlined jacket in Texas? I worked in Dallas, during the summer, wearing a fully lined wool flannel suit from England. With air conditioning in homes, cars and offices it doesn't really matter any longer. If you want to wear unlined that's a choice it might make a difference if you're working outside a lot during the summer but apart from that it's not a major factor.
+Liam Foley Yeah - it's best to wear it in the summer. The middle ground for suit jacket lining is a partial lining that protects the canvas of the suit without adding much weight.www.realmenrealstyle.com/10-suit-jacket-details/
Hey! I recently found your youtube page and subscribed. I saw your video regarding wearing suit jackets as blazers, and you said solid charcoal grey is a no. I have a (somewhat?) patterned grey jacket and wanted your opinion on whether I could wear it as a blazer (Link below). If so, what colour dress shirts would I wear it with? I have light blue, white, pearl grey, pink and purple. Thanks in advance! img16.imageshack.us/img16/4165/img0002qy.jpg
"the inside has been hand made" You know all clothing is handmade, hand sewed together right? The only reason they don't advertise "handmade" on clothing because it promotes low pay for hard intense labor at sweat shops. There is a pretty good documentary about it on Netflix.
honestly i don't see the point of unlined jackets (half-lined may have some merrit though). I lived a few years in Jordan and I was wearing only lined jackets (even in summer). Strangely enough I never sweat.
Sorry link below won't work, so I'm posting it again (link in this comment is from imgur) If it makes a difference in pulling it off, I'm pretty young (19) qsiUO.jpg

Antonio could you do a video on Fused, half canvas, and full canvas jackets? Its kind of confusing.
Thanks,
Chris

Yes - although it is a ways out as I want to tear up a jacket for that vid....
Is there a possibility I can buy all my coughts without a lining I found they don't keep me worm they feel almost like ice on my skin.

Don’t be afraid to remove the sleeves.

They could be smaller (the armholes) - but I think the way I hold them/turned it inside out makes them look larger than they really are.
lol
I think that unlined leather is just badass vintage. And it grabs up that amazing old leather smell more easily
Hi, does unlined winter wool coat without a lining cause rain to the inside garments. Thanks
These infors has been very helpful. Thanks so much.
Excellent video. Thx
Would an unlined chino jacket be a mistake? Having a summer sport coat made and there are too many options.
does your unlined jacket have a canvas in tbem
Was wondering who would catch that.....
Sounds like a great jacket....
yes :))
Does your suit jacket button up fully, I noticed it has a collar button

Can you turn a lined suit into an unlined suit jacket?
Great visuals Antonio! Keep up the great work!
What about cotton lining?
Awesome bags man. I'm liking the smaller one. Looks like it'd be better on the go. Sweet shirt.
Great Video - I also live in a tropical region.
What about the Zegna Cool effect suit fabrics, do they really help to make you feel cooler?

Real Men Real Style Thanks for the quick reply! Is there a reason you wouldn't recommend the cool effect fabric? it just sounds like the holy grail..

I think he means it's hand stitched, and there actually is a big difference between hand stitching and machine stitching.
