Can we just all take a minute to appreciate how amazing Aaron was at following the constantly changing direction of where Jack and Laura were looking. You did this without making me feel sick. Fantastic video. Thank you 😊
But also not too slow of a pan!! I follow a channel who pans really slow so as not to make people sick but it’s TOO slow! 😅 I’m always like 😳😳😳😳 craning my head tryin to see around the corner 😂
All these properties seem like a fairy tale! They are so beautiful and peaceful and perfect! Jack does an amazing job. Thank you Jack for the tour with Laura and Aaron.
Bravo, 👏! Not only is Jack a genius , I really appreciate how Jack provides the history and explanation of the architecture of the gardens, hardscape and buildings . Thank you ! ❤️🇨🇦
This sedum must have several different names..somebody else just said it’s a Dazzleberry serum...no wonder why Jack Barnwell can’t find any more of this plant- it’s got too many names to figure out what iexactly is called LoL
Love it! The 'she shed' that Jack's brother built is unbelievable. No screws, nails, etc were used. Now, that is a labor of love. Great tour with Jack's background info and yes, Aaron's on point filming.
Laura, it's fun to watch you get excited about what you're seeing when doing tours with Jack! It's always fun when you're in Mackinack and able to spend time with Jack taking tours.
The gardens are beautiful but can we say HOLY MOLY for that "she-shed"!!!! It is stunning!! and the workmanship!! To heck with the main house... I want to live in the she-shed!!!!! And the water feature and fire pit areas--WOW!! I absolutely loved the tours of the wonderful gardens and homes... Jack is so talented with his designs ... such a lovely area. Kudos to the Island for not allowing cars etc to ruin everything. Laura was great and Aaron did an amazing job of filming--thank you!!!! ❤
Sedum discussed comes in 3 colors: Sunsparkler Dream Dazzler (sedum rupestre) (dark purple leaves with hot pink edges). Sunsparkler Plum Dazzled (dark purple), and Sunsparkler Wildfire (dark pink leaves with hot pink edges)stonecrop.
Oh my.. I’m from Australia and it just so unexpected to see the quintessential Hill Hoist clothes line near that immaculate lawn. It’s lovely to see a small garden and house, plenty of ideas.
That shed though....WOW! Just wow!!! Such impressive craftsmanship!!! That shed was really the star of this tour. I think the impressive manner in which this shed was built was totally lost on Laura. Gorgeous work!
Good workmanship is not lost on Laura. I feel that she, above all, appreciates style, quality and craftmanship! Even if the craft is not her gendre, when time warrants in her videos, she usually mentions others who exhibits those qualities.
I agree. She was not wowed by it nor at the comments, just the wood aroma as if she was not knowledgable of what he was describing. I wish Aaron had piped in the conversation. It would have been OK to say: "what do you mean with no nails?" I would have loved to know.🤔
I’ve been looking so forward to these tours! When my husband and I visit the island we walk all around it, admiring the beautiful gardens, only wishing we could see more of them. Thank you for bringing us with you and Jack! You’re both so awesome and talented! I hope you’ve had some personal time for enjoyment on beautiful Mackinac Island! You deserve some rest!
Thank you to Laura, Aaron and Jack for all these garden tours during your recent trip. What a gift you all bring to your communities and us. Jack's brother made this video special to me with the craftsmanship of his work on the shed.
👋👋👋🌞Good Wednesday morning, Laura, Aaron and Jack! I wasn't able to watch, yesterday. So, I get a triple feature today.🤗🤗🤗 Cameraman, Aaron, you are doing an amazing job filming these cottages!!!! Kudos 👏 👏👏👏 I love how you swung the camera up to catch the 3 birch trees and a glimpse of the beautiful blue sky, with fluffy white clouds, above the canopy of the closest birch tree. You sure have been upping your camera and drone game, young Man!!!!! Jack sure is a cutie-pie! 😉 Probably hard for Laura to concentrate on what he is telling us.😂🤣😂 Don't get jealous, Aaron, we all like to appreciate the free "art" that God provides for us. 😉 Besides, you are a handsome young Man, too. Awwwe, Laura, you were so thoughtful to go around to the ramp, up to the She Shed, rather than tromp through the vegetation. You are always always thoughtful and considerate.💝 Jack, your brother, Emory (sp?), did a fabulous job, building that shed! It is soooo quaint and authentic Victorian-era.👏👏👏👏 It truly is "a work of art"! Thank you, again, for filming this beautiful cottage and grounds, while on vacation, for us! I, for one, truly appreciate that you take time, from your vacation, to do this for us!🤗🤗🤗 Have a Blessed and Beautiful vacation, Laura and Aaron! Everyone else, 🌐 have a Blessed and Beautiful day/night 🌞/🌜✨️⭐️🌟⭐️✨️ Kimberley F in Avondale, Arizona USA 🇺🇸 (Zone 9b) 🌞🌵💞 Now, onto the Eagle's Perch Cottage Garden Tour....
Keep em coming!!!! Jack is an amazing designer. The amount of hard scaping he puts in to everything is always SO impressive. Garden walls, terraces, borders, pathways, walkways, retaining walls, and flagstone steps, All with heavy brick, stone, and boulders- Its a dream.
I live in northwest WI far closer to the great Mississippi than the Great Lakes. What I have appreciated about these garden tours with Jack, Laura and Aaron is that my yard more resembles the heavily wooded and hilly space that Jack is reworking than the flat, open and sunny spaces that Laura and Aaron work with. I notice neither of these gardener begin with a set design and let the space reveal itself as the plants do their thing. I like the hardscape that Jack uses to separate the flowerbeds from the forest. I love Laura's on-camera presence and Jack's boundless energy. Enjoyed these tours 😀
Morning everyone. Beautiful property! Living in St. Louis, there is brick all the time coming from old houses or city streets. Its so cool to see a street used as a walkway/pathway in Mackinac island. Yall have a great day, much love StL Missouri
Sedum Sunsparkler Dream Dazzler has such amazing color! I am glad to know it's still hardy all the way up there. Thanks for taking us along for some of these tours during the Grand Garden Show. ❤️
I had some of that sedum in a pot and it only came back with a few sprigs here in my zone 5. It is beautiful though! I will have to try it again in the ground.
I am amazed at the size of the "cottages"and really the property the people have. What do they do to keep the grass so green and lush..what kind is it? It is all so pretty..almost unreal.
I so loved this garden with all its little rooms. It's more my size. Yes share the name of that sedum and I think I just saw the water fall I want in my yard. So beautiful!
I don't normally comment on videos in general. However, that will change if in some small way it helps with the visibility of Garden Answer's videos by allowing more people to find their channel. I had the opportunity to meet Laura, Aaron and also Jack Barnwell while attending the Grand Garden Show hosted by Proven Winners on Mackinac Island. There have been many times I have met personalities, influencers or celebrities that fall short of who I thought they were in "real life". Laura, Aaron and Jack are as genuine and authentic in person as they are in the videos which is rare to find. Thank you and Aaron for sharing all of your special talents and gifts. Keep inspiring people to garden. 🌼🌲🌳🌺🌻
Loved the Grand Garden Show!!! I can’t believe how quickly 600 people turned on you when you said “I’ve never even seen a Japanese Beetle 🪲 “. Thanks for being at the garden show and for all you and Aaron do for all of us that love gardening.
Again so beautiful, the gardens and the homes with added structures. Such a gift to be able to see these and imagine how Jack must vision his projects. It’s must be the most rewarding feeling, the best job to have. Thank you to Aaron for being there filming for us and Laura for her passion with gardening and not lastly but for Jack who makes all this magic happen for all to see.🌺
I absolutely love these tours! To see the possibilities of things I could do or add to my garden, not to mention the beautifully restored historic homes. What a treat! BUT, wouldn’t it be fun to have Jack come to your garden and work with you on some of the areas you are having trouble nailing down!!! Now that would make for a few awesome videos!
Thank- you for another stunning garden tour! I ❤️ how Lilac Cottage has a calming, gentle feel with all its elements! The inviting, winding elevated beds boardered with the local stone are filled with perfectly chosen plants & clever ground cover that are masterly balanced in color, texture & scale! I'm so envious!! But the star of the show is the SHE SHED hidden behind the matching house color & small stature!!!! Island Sourced Cedar--WOW!! MORTISE & TENON JOINERY--WOW!! May I say that, again: MORTISE & TENON JOINERY for a She Shed! Totally Unexpected!!! Jack's Master Builder brother paid attention to all the little details-- AMAZING CRAFTSMANSHIP!!! I would love an entire show on that! What talented Brothers!!!👏👏👏
Thanks for the tour! Gorgeous! My take away: plant more ground covers😍😍😍 I would love to see more of Jack’s brother’s work. That “she shed” WOWWW!!!!! I’m VERY IMPRESSED!!!! Masterpiece!!!! Thank you!!!! 🌸🌻 🌺 🌻🌸
Haha Laura, I told my husband you are on Mackinac and he said he hoped your trip was much better than last time! The whole cottage area is beautiful; I will have to watch again to translate some of these features into my garden. Jack does wonderful work. We will be there again next year!
I heard Laura asking all the right questions about that pink hydrangea in bed behind the red brick patio against the new addition. I could read her mind and I bet you all could, also. LOL Another great tour! I love to hear about his design choices in all the hardscape.
Hi Laura, Aaron and Jack. This is another beautiful cottage, and again, Jack's landscape visions are spot on. The she shed Jack's brother built is amazing! Thank you so much for sharing!
I love hearing the history behind the cottages and the different aspects of the Island. It's so beautiful and Jack has such a passion for the work he does on the island, and it shows!
Laura I hope Jack Barnwell is giving you some good vibes of straight up inspiration to add texture into your property by putting in some dips and valleys to grow with the flow- oh man I also love the slate boarders with the occasional boulders! Thanks for Another great video filmed Aaron! ✨🤍
It’s been so lovely to finally meet you Laura 🌺 The gardens here on Mackinac Island are truly magnificent and we really appreciate your extra information. I need to get home and get back to planting !🦋
Hey Aaron & Laura, Did you notice the beautiful sconces on the house and the other building? Great property to get ideas and inspiration. I remember when you were looking for lights for the planting shed. Love learning the history of the homes.
I love the history with the Lilac house. It would be amazing to see the lilacs in bloom. I can clearly envision those city workers wanting Mackinac Island to retreat for their cool quiet summers. The Island is a paradise. Thank you so much for sharing.
Oh happy day! This is gorgeous! What a beautiful garden tour. Thank you Laura for traveling and bringing us such wonderful content. I’m dreaming about tomorrow’s video.
They are all such beautiful gardens... Love these garden tours.. Coming from Australia this is a special treat to get to see them. Thank you Laura, Aaron and of course to Jack. 🌼🌿🌸
Same. Queenslander here. I just love how they are called cottages and they are massive houses. My mind just boggles at the amount of money that must be involved. Doesn't stop me from loving the tours and seeing everything though.
@@loissaedder2214 such a special place isn't it. I've been busily trying to find myself some supertunias for my garden here in Northern NSW.. Got lucky and found a few Silver Berry ones at bunnings, but I'm hopeful to get some vistas online soon..... Do you ever buy any proven winners plants here in oz? 😁🌼😁
@@Lozjb83 I'm in Hervey Bay. Our local Bunnings has a few Proven Winners plants, not more than 20 perhaps. They are pretty expensive though. I don't buy any annuals in the big pots though. I get the 4 packs mostly. I follow Jack's channel too and love it. Mackinac would be a wonderful place to visit wouldn't it? And Andrews? We don't have anything even remotely like it.
@@loissaedder2214 I'm fairly similar in the fact that I mostly get 4 packs, but I'm really looking forward to spring and the lovely colours.. I have family in Hervey Bay.... Wowsers it can get so hot and humid 😁🔥 you do so well gardening there!
Good morning Laura and everyone!! Another Fabulous tour!! Love all the stone work and she shed! Your right, perfect color of tuff stuff hydrangeas against the house color… Have a wonderful week
Can I just say when Monty Don visited the US gardens and did a whole series he missed out on the most beautiful ones! I think our private gardens here are the stunners! Just wow!
Oh my goodness! I've scribbled down so many notes, Saturday I'm hitting the nursary to see what I can find here in South Africa. Love that garden. You are a lifesaver for people like me who cannot afford a professional landscape artist. Hugs from SA. 🌹🐝🇿🇦
What a beautiful property! Hearing the history from a gentleman who has had the privilege to work with home owners for many years, is so amazing. Even as Jack talks about the "old, nasty roses" you can tell he takes such pride in the work that has been done. As you walked into the shed, I was wondering if it smelled amazing... and Laura confirmed it!. The view through the trees to the water, back by the firepit, was breath taking! Thank you for sharing another amazing home! Just re-watched Jack's tour show casing his grandma's home on the island. Always interesting listening to him.
Jack is such a gifted young man. Really knows his stuff for his zone! I love to see all the possibilities in different zones! Laura has said so many times, that knowing your area is key to planting things that will last and look beautiful. And Jack has certainly mastered that on Mackinac Island! Like Laura, I was just sighing and longing as they walked through, as my zone would not support so many of those plants in the same way. Everything there is so breathtaking! Thank you again for walking us through these properties! 😍
Laura …I know you are in “ Hog Heaven “ taking in all the beautiful details ….then. coming home and incorporate the ideas into your landscape ….beauty is ENDLESS 🥰🙏
Wow that shed, made me so nostalgic. My grandfather was a carpenter by trade and didn't believe in screws and nails!!! That attention to detail and pride in craftsmanship is lost in todays society of instant gratification and continuous consumerism.
Mr.Jack Barnwell you crack me up with your one liners!! “That’s a she sheaf girl!” Hahahahaha .... and “she thick!” lol I can’t wait to personally meet ya ✨🤍
Such a beautiful home, gardens, flowers, lawn, trees and little she shed all put together to make paradise! What a treat it was to be able to walk around this gorgeous property with the three of you! Thank you!
Laura, this was a beautiful tour….BUT Jack needs to visit you and see all the amazing spaces you and Aaron have developed. His is a wonderfully gorgeous area and we all so appreciate you guys sharing this part of our beautiful country. We’re so diverse “from sea to shining sea!” So fun to see when we might not be able to get there on our own and to have you find these beautiful jewels for us.
What a beautiful property! The front landscape definitely gave me inspiration for my own front landscaping- I need to pare down the different types of plants I have there and do more repetition instead. Much higher impact for that curb appeal!
I loved these videos at Mackinac Island. I visited as a young child in 1970. Then it was about bike riding, fudge and bubble gum ice cream. I want to go back now for the homes, gardens, and scenery. Great videos!!
Can we just all take a minute to appreciate how amazing Aaron was at following the constantly changing direction of where Jack and Laura were looking. You did this without making me feel sick. Fantastic video. Thank you 😊
Exactly my thought, excellent interview and the camera work was outstanding!

I think the Sedum is call Sunsparkler “Dream Dazzler.”
It’s beautiful! Thanks for the wonderful tour, I’m so inspired!!
It is a SunSparkler Wildfire Sedum
The winner of the gold star! Thank you for the information.
I thought maybe plum dazzled or dazzleberry
Yes, Susan, you are correct! I have this plant and I still have the tag…Sunsparkler “Dream Dazzler”. She’s a beauty!

OMG that she shed is incredible! Jack, your brother is a master craftsman! Your gardens aren’t so bad either lol!
I am enjoying the tours so much. It is so hot here at 110 today in CA. It makes me feel cooler. TY
Dreamt cottage gardens last night and will again tonight. When I grow up, I am going to live by the sea with a garden like this
We can be neighbors!
But watch out for winter!!!!
That shed though....WOW! Just wow!!! Such impressive craftsmanship!!! That shed was really the star of this tour.
I think the impressive manner in which this shed was built was totally lost on Laura.
Gorgeous work!
OMG right? My jaw dropped open. Those boys are gems!

Good mornin from Mb Canada. Love waking up knowing that I have your videos to start my day. I'm looking at planting in a whole new light thank you.
I'm loving thiese Mackinac Island tours with designer Jack! Thank you so much!
Good morning Laura and everyone!! Another Fabulous tour!! Love all the stone work and she shed! Your right, perfect color of tuff stuff hydrangeas against the house color… Have a wonderful week
Gorgeous 😍😍😍 Jack Barnwell always nails it ... wow 👌👌👌 I love that water feature.... can't wait to see more cottage tours in Mac island 😊❤️
Great camera work, Aaron. Thank you.
Can I just say when Monty Don visited the US gardens and did a whole series he missed out on the most beautiful ones! I think our private gardens here are the stunners! Just wow!
Oh my... Jack is a true artist... Love everything he creates and his upbeat personality too... Great video !
Oh my goodness! I've scribbled down so many notes, Saturday I'm hitting the nursary to see what I can find here in South Africa. Love that garden. You are a lifesaver for people like me who cannot afford a professional landscape artist. Hugs from SA. 🌹🐝🇿🇦
Hmmm.....I wonder if Jack has supercool gardens in his space? This cottage is a beautiful color with wonderful hardscape and plantings - 👍👏🎉
I see a washing line with laundry. do you ever dry your laundry outside? 🧺 What a Beautiful space 🤤🥰🌿
Is it just me or do these two have amazing chemistry?
Fabulous! 💝
Good morning everyone🤗💗🌺 So, so beautiful! Thanks guys! Jack amazing job yet again! Lilac cottage is gorgeous!💜
Beautiful! Love Jack!
Beautiful! Jack does an awesome job, all his gardens are gorgeous. I love the large grass areas as well.
Such a beautiful home, gardens, flowers, lawn, trees and little she shed all put together to make paradise! What a treat it was to be able to walk around this gorgeous property with the three of you! Thank you!
Love the expression “dreamin and scheming”! Will do be some tonight in my own garden! Thanks for the amazing inspiration
Beautiful property! That custom ‘shed’ is simply darling! Jacks brother is a true artist and craftsman!
Excellent camera work aaron!Aaron!! Thank you jack and Laura for the Excellent tour and ideas for us.
I loved these videos at Mackinac Island. I visited as a young child in 1970. Then it was about bike riding, fudge and bubble gum ice cream. I want to go back now for the homes, gardens, and scenery. Great videos!!
