Thank you for sharing the island summer glory in early October! I'm not ready to let go of summer yet so we boated the Flathead River today grabbing the very last days of summer before our long winters. The boarded cottage reminded me of how short the magic is! I love that the owners wanted to still share the beauty of their gardens with everyone else despite not being there full time. LOVE the colors today and the uniqueness of the combinations. Thank you
Your videos are always watched "full screen" on my computer and still make me wish I had a huge smart tv so I can view them even larger! I am so appreciative of the all cottage owners for permitting you to produce these videos. I look forward to seeing fall on Mackinac. Google says a cottage is a small, simple house. These may have started out that way. I appreciate the charm that they all possess no matter the size. Thanks for another tour.
Is that the one that caught fire around late may 2021, that place is beautiful. You can’t even see how nice it is from the street. I’m glad to hear it will be restored to its original glory
OMG. that front walkway , such breathtaking beauty. Must be what heaven looks like. Thank you for sharing..a visit to the island is at the top of my bucket list.
I am grateful for the information and for the ideas that you impart. Mackinac is not a place I would ever even consider visiting (the wealth is ostentatious, sort of post-Newport, RI). So to have an enterprising fellow bring the gardening beauty and his knowledge to me regularly is a real treat. Thank you.
I adore your videos! The grounds are always beautiful and the use of your descriptive words, coupled with the work of the videographer makes watching such a joy.
Beautiful, love these tours. Really want to see the clean up and winterizing process too. So much good information in the process of how you get everything to look like this.
Lovely. I love your channel, your garden ( I mean gardens designed by you) and ofcourse your Island. I am definitely going to visit your Island when I will go to USA next time. I wanted to request you to show all plants in little more detail along with their name please.
Wow....I’m in awe! Truly stunning garden...the plants spilling over the walkway....full of beautiful colourful annuals and evergreens! Love the background of people walking & biking! 🙏❤️🇨🇦
Hi Jack - what's the white, tall, airy annual flower you are walking by at around 3:27? This garden is stunning. It's so cool the owners went full-bore to plant it all up in a year where there wasn't as much going on. Glad they came and enjoyed it! What a weird time that was.
Big fan of your work Jack, thank God there’s passionate awesome people in the world like yourself to inspire the rest of us. Given me some great garden ideas. Thanks heaps 🙏👍😊
Thank you for the video! Your work is so beautiful and inspiring! Sunpatiens are great...I bought two and although it had a slow start in June, it flourished in the summer and is still alive now (I'm in northern Illinois). My fiance and I were at Mckinac Island in June! We biked along West Bluff and I was such in awe of the landscaping on West Bluff Road. If there were cars on that island I would've gotten into an accident because I was staring so much at the landscaping.
Thank you for sharing about the impatiens. I haven’t had any success with them for at least 3-4 years and have gone to begonias and coleus for color in shade. I think I may try them again next year along with the browalia. Thank you.
Beautiful garden! I learn so much about combining plants from watching your videos. I especially love the truffula pink gomphrena with the verbena. You are so talented and it's always a pleasure to see your gardens.
Oh man, it's a good thing plants are so forgiving, I have Crape Myrtles that forgive me at least once twice a summer. Nice to see you used Ornamental Lilies, you don't see those in many gardens anymore. Love seeing the Hosta around the trees at the end, I have a bunch to divide and that's just what I had in mind to do with them, glad to see they'll look nice.
I wish someone could make a video tour of the inside of one of the Mackinac mansions, they are so beautiful. I could never ever get the opportunity to be in one but I can dream.
@@JackBarnwellDesign awesome, I was telling my wife about my comment and how you said “can do” and she tells me about your other video about your grandmas house, next to the library, I said really that’s one of my favorite homes on the island. Tell your grandma it is beautiful. We stayed all last week on the island, I could just live on Mackinac Island forever
Hi! As you were moving up the walkway and describing the landscape, I am wondering what the taller plant with the small white flowers is called--I believe it is a perennial here in NJ--it is dispersed all throughout the walkway...thank you!! PS. Your work is simply BEAUTIFUL :)
I'm loving the Suncredible and Rockin' Fuchsia combo as well. I've heard that too many Truffla Pinks in mass can become a little overpowering with their aroma. What's your take on that?
I agree. I didn't realize how they can take over and the aroma is overpowering but they are beautiful. Trying to decide whether or not to keep for next year.
I would love to have a lilac like that palabin. May I ask how you created the tight sphere shape with it? Do you use hedge trimmers on it right after it finishes blooming? The whole garden looks so gorgeous! The owners are going to be glad they didn't miss it.
At some of the cottages, especially close to town and grand hotel, it has become a “mackinac look” to have all the ribbons of color~~ done right, it is stunning in its own right...
@@SisterShirley Not so sure. Too much color, especially reds, can be showy and ostentatious. I get what Jack calls the "Mackinac look," but it should be used with caution, I think.
Do you have any idea how many master gardens Jack and his team creates each summer and how many cottages they maintain during the season? We're so lucky that Jack finds time to make and post any at all. Chill or go away.
Good tip about placing pots to among the ferns to give you colour

Crazy how this is what it was…and then what it became after the fire. Just wow!! You did such an amazing job.
I’m a sucker for gardens up north than the south. There is always variations and it’s not just palm trees and so Love your work. 🌸

You made the garden very beautiful🥰🥰🌹🌹
VERY BALANCED COLORS! I am a huge fan of this border garden! You really have a great eye for spacing and plant variety! So Queen Anne! :P
So very sorry to see the fire they had at this cottage. Looks like the firefighters did a great job saving this beauty. Hopefully it can restored
The plan is for a full restoration- starting in tomorrow....

Beautiful video🌸🌸🌷🌷
Brilliantly designed jack ! Just beautiful ☺️
Incredible, thanks for the update
Thank you for explaining the features of so many of the plants in this video. I have made a note to look for those impatiens in 2021.
Beautiful gardens. Do any residents open up their homes to the public for tours and history on the homes?
You look like Indiana Jones and the rolling ball with that huge lilac! Lol 😆
Hi Jack... Everything amazingly beautiful.. Thank you!!!... See you soon...

A demonstration on pruning that lilac would be great!
agreed
I think I butchered mine today. Old and too many water sprouts.

Beautiful! Can you recommend a wisteria that is resistant to downy mildew for central Missouri?
You look very young. How is it that you’ve been working on these properties for 10 years??!
Hey Jack.
Can you tell me what that beautiful blue flower is that is planted amongst the Impatiens please.
Browalia

This cottage went up in flames today.. very sad
If you see this after June 2021, the roof burned causing 1 Million dollars damage.
Yes.... but- it is being re built and restored to her original glory~
