2721 is one of the few self terminating SCPs.
checked scp-2721 after 6 years, no, unfortunately, it was never a front for an apollyon-level SCP that is trying to infiltrate us earthlings by posing as the average tumblrette.
in fact, the ratings were disabled.
there's a reason the popular scp's are mostly from the first series.
there is literally not a single scp that gives me the same thrill that the red sea object gives, and i must have read several thousands of them. my least favorite ones from the first series are abel and cain because they are the closest thing to self insert OCs there
It's kind of depressing going back in time to a fandom mid-subversion. This was a point in history where we thought pointing out hypocrisy would actually do anything. It's become abundantly clear in recent years that they don't give a shit if they're in the right because if you control the narrative and push out all opposition you can just 'make it right.'
In the end at it's all about power and being able to project this power onto others. That's the main theme I felt through the whole thing. These losers took over the site and relished in being able to lock others out

it's still not as miserable as the empty lives that have to get meaning out of just ruining something they aren't even truly interested in time and time again

Someone should take it and rewrite it into something neat heck it would be a neat group project.
it can be done well CURIE from fallout 4 of all things managed to make the story touching and the process of her becoming human heart warming,
and if FALLOUT 4 can do something storywise better then you then you f around long long ago.

oh good lord, i can SMELL the reddit on you through my screen. the story was NEVER leftist. it was never anti-capitalism. it was never any of your progslop bullshit. this has been confirmed by one of the creators of fallout, Tim Cain. He was banned from the subreddit supposedly for saying so, btw. you heard that right, the fallout subreddit got so buttfrustrated that their game wasn't a progslop shillfest that they BANNED ONE OF THE CREATORS OF THE SERIES FOR TELLING THEM THEY WERE WRONG.

I listen to TheVolgun videos sometimes still as background, but only usually from the first few series. Usually anything after 3 I dont bother with unless it looks particulalry interesting. The quality dropoff is just glaringly consistent as things go from "kinda weird stuff that can be dangerous" to stuff that sounded like it was dreamt up as something to be used in a DnD campaign. Not interesting presentations, not interesting concepts and not interesting "subtexts". The politicisation of the wiki was just part of the issue, maybe an overstated one if we are just looking at the output. Fundamentally, the issue that SCP got taken over by a clique of unimaginative people that thought they were far cleverer and enlightened than they actually were, driving away a lot of people, breaking the immersion of this being some semi-plausble secret amoral organisation and devaluing SCP as a whole. In most of the later series it seems like for every decent entry theres a dozen mid to crap ones
The issue with scp is that it's basically established itself into its own universe and veered off from any sense of it potentially being in our own. There's only so many over the top SCPs you can have before the world is in is more akin to like you said...DND. And it dosen't help that at the start scp already was veering to that a little bit with its meat grinder argument for d-class.
But SCP has never really moved forward. It still written and approached like it's the first days where it had loads of space to expand. But those days are gone and it needed to move forward as a world or story instead of sticking to "ok...so...here's another thousand scps"
Now they got reality anchors and the league of mary sue special researchers only got worse over time. It's almost on par with something like wow. Although at least wow moves forward - with horrible writing but still-
If SCP kept itself a bit reserved. Limited the amount of keter/ world enders and only opened up the new scp's after big story events in verse. It could of been alright. There was no stopping the organization making a lay out like the scp that are all records on interactions and testing scenarios that serve as their own continued stories of the already existing scps. Until they manage neutralize them or seal them away for good. But instead stories that move things forward tend to be baked into the scp at start or self contained.
I hope Volgun won't make a video about 2721 because if he does the video gonna be a Cringe fest

Fucking insane drama they and their ex friend antipuff dragged me into. i was like 16-17 and they were both like mid 20s-early 30s telling me all their weird sexual details about how they met up and got pressured into things and how the other is a backstabber, they're both complete fuckin wackjobs. Got completely backstabbed by the anti person too cos they loved my abusive ex and resented me for breaking up with him and making him sad, who which then stalked me for like 4+ years and vague posted about me on a blog where he posted irl gore. and apparently even tho i never mentioned them (until now) or anything, i was always the bad guy. wild times. in the end, both of them just flung accusations back and forwards, overshared it all to me, and none of it was fully believable from either side. they were writing like full on Disney villain plots about each other.
