- Neil Sedaka joins Marilyn McCoo on Solid Gold in 1981-82 to sing a duet of "The Hungry Years", a song written and composed by the great team of Sedaka/Greenfield. Neil has such sparkle in this clip! Both he and Marilyn are fabulous singers and harmonize well together, and this clip is well worth a few listens to catch some of the subtleties. I have lots of videos to share of Marilyn McCoo singing covers, duets and more from her Solid Gold years -- check out my RUclips page. Special thanks to CutterCovina on RUclips who sent me this high quality clip... Enjoy! Music arranged and produced by Solid Gold's musical director, Michael Miller.
Marilyn can sing so beautifully with all the stars. She is a icon for sure. Neil and her did a great job singing this song
THIS IS WHY I THANK GOD FOR THE INTERNET!!!!!!!!!!!!
true.
Oh I love it , this song is when I was in 3rd grade....................
Neil is one of greatest songwriters who sings himself! All his songs have followed me from my childhood! He is one of the greatest and we even sing his songs today...they never grow "old".
the lady sings good..she blends well with neil...i miss this song..no one dares to play it on our local radio
Marilyn is not only beautiful but her voice and poise is stunning. I have seen her perform several times in person close up and she is more lovely in the flesh. Her voice and diction make the new singers of these times seem foolish.
Marilyn McCoo has one of those voices that blends well with whom ever she sings with. Male or female. Also the fact that she sang in a group (The 5th Dimension) seasoned her to be part of the song. Not dominate it like lots of singers today.
God, how I miss those days of such beautiful music..............
Amen......:)
Wonderfull
I love RUclips. It enables me to watch and hear a super performance done 30 years ago. Thank you.
Neil Sedaka one of the best singer songwriters ever.
"Everything we wanted was everything we had", if only I knew this at the time. I lost my one and only love.
It's 2019 and I am just hearing this great song for the first time!! Wow!
Manuel Diggs It’s a beautiful song, sung by two amazing artists.
Carole Gswizzle 100 agree!
I know, it's like WHAT? He did something after "It Hurts to be in Love?"
Two of the greatest singers on the planet. Marilyn and her husband are going to be at the Orleans casino in Vegas in a few weeks and I will be there.
I LOVE this duet!
These 2 should have recorded this song together.
Just a great song through and through.
Very sad.
She is so very beautiful❤
first heard this song many years ago at somebodies funeral. great song.this guy really makes it work too, some people must listen to this and wonder why their lives changed , when they may have been happy, we will never know.
You would want this performance to never end!
Neil needs to be in the Rock Roll Hall it's about time
Two of my all time favorites! Its emotional for me...looking back on the hungry years!
i always love neil's smile, so cute and sweet.
What a great line.....everything we wanted was everything we had...
My god this is perfect. Two of the absolute best here.
This song is all about Sonny And Cher Neil once said. Great song and powerful lyrics.
Beautiful duet, matching tremelo, musicality, and of course marilyn makes everything better.
Such beauty, talent, genius and what chemistry between them! So rare nowadays yet it was so common back then.
Such a beautiful song with two amazing singers!
two great singers, it could never fail.
Beautiful song--and Marilyn's phrasing is excellent throughout.
Saw him.om concert in Vegas and it was wonderful. Also saw Marilyn and her husband in concert. Both are great talents

Beautiful...Harmony!
These two sound good together. And the song ain't bad either.
Great to hear good songs again. Thanks for this clip
Great interview with Neil Sedaka on Gilbert Gottfried's Amazing Colossal Podcast. Well worth a listen. Neil is smart and funny and he plays and sings on the podcast, too. (July 29, 2019 episode)
Just Beautiful. Love that song so much.
Love this song. Rita Coolidge version as well
priceless
Gänsehautfeeling. Bewunder die Marilyn McCoo hier total. Was für eine Stimme, was für ein Aussehen. Toll.
Fantastic song, great duet, but I think Neil singing it solo has the edge.
❤️💜❤️💜
i love this song doug poarkinson an australian singer sang this a very good rendidtion

She looks like Robin from "How I met Your Mother"!
Did Neil ever come out?
He's been married to the same woman for many years now. They have 2 Children together. A daughter, Dara, a recording artist and vocalist for television and radio commercials. A Son, Marc, a screenwriter who lives in Los Angeles with his wife, and their 3 children.
No Neil is not gay. After so many years being married to Leba 60 years, how dare you ask that question. No one can beat their marriage especially for celebrities. They are both wonderful and faithful couple
Happy 60th anniversary. ,& I have been a Neil Sedaka fan since 1962. Kudos.
I've heard Neil's music all of my life, now 67, but never NEVER heard a single note of this "big hit." Geez, what's wrong with me???? Neil looks like the uneaten spaghetti noodle here; what's a nice Jewish boy like him doing so far from a deli? C'mon, kid. You're starving!
