I've never had a crush on a female singer before like I have had on Marilyn.. ❤ Gorgeous beautiful and elegant lady who has filled my life with her class and vocals.. ❤❤
I think Marilyn was singing it because the week before, this song was #5 on the countdown (and here's it's #4) and Charlene was on the week prior singing it. They probably didn't want to repeat the live singers.
imagine this song as a reminder and a discovery of one's self as a full woman..she made mistakes , she went to discover the secrets of the world and realized she did not even discovered herself.. she begins the renewal..play the song again and imagine also that this is a very beautiful woman who left her loved one to go out and discover what's in store for her in the world.
A lovely performance, shame she changed the words a bit. :) I love several different versions of this, Nancy Wilson, Randy Crawford (which seems kinda rare) and of course Charlene. Thanks for sharing this!
wow mosesM, you want to control comments don't you...enjoy Marilyn doing many things but not working on this one, sounds bored...Nancy Wilson on the other hand lives and breathes this great song taking listener to the depths of her soul with so much passion...check it out, easy to hear & feel the difference
Between Charlene and Marilyn, tbh… I believe Marilyn lived the life she describes in the lyrics more so than Charlene. Marilyn sounds like she’s describing it with a kind of wearied voice, like shes describing this amazing life but she’s so over it.
They hate the lyric, not the tune or the quality of performance (by Charlene). They hate being told that their hedonistic sins are inferior and unfulfilling in the big picture of life.
I agree, I think the song is ridiculous, and Charlene's 1980s version is just comical. I wonder what Marilyn was thinking singing this song, because she doesn't look like she admires it. At least her voice sounds lovely, as usual.
Same too. I had posted a version of this classic song on my channel and used the lyric 'righteous man' instead of 'preacher man' because that was inappropriate. I also changed that last line 'I spent my life exploring the subtle whoring' to 'I thought my heart would wait but I learned too late that it costs too much to be free'. But yeah, I liked how she changed that one line.
actually I like the Mary MacGregor version better, much more upbeat. But yeah, the Charlene version is definitely one of those you don't wanna hear all the time. I could deal with Marilyn's cover all right though
Gorgeous beautiful woman with a voice that is just .... Unbelievable. Love you Marilyn❤❤
Beautiful and wonderful singer, indeed, as always!
YES I SAID IT ONCE AND I'LL SAY IT AGAIN. THIS WOMAN IS INSANLEY BEAUTIFUL!!!. OMG,,,,,,,,,,,, MARILYN YOU'RE A GODDESS!!!!.
LOVE this beautiful gorgeous lady..
An angel. ❤❤
Marilyn Mc Coo, & Nancy WIlson, put the Soul in this song, but Charlene was also amazing with her sweet tender voice
ilove this song...when i was a child since now love it...love marilyn..i want to listen all day ur songs.
You are SO right! Never cared much for this tune until I heard Randy sing it.
beautiful, just beautiful
another good version of this classic, but please don't knock Charlene she will always be the best
Anyway better than the one by Randy Crawford, which is too jazzy.
Excellent cover, enjoyed her "Moving like Harlow" on the stage.
I watched this 33 years ago. OMG
+southernman samui
Yes from December 82. I was in the 7th grade
time flies does it not
...and Scott Baio STILL looks the same!!!!!!
This A Beautiful Song
I have loved this lady my entire life.. ❤❤❤
Charlenes version rules!!
I've never had a crush on a female singer before like I have had on Marilyn.. ❤ Gorgeous beautiful and elegant lady who has filled my life with her class and vocals.. ❤❤
Love Marilyn McCoo, she just makes any song her own.

I think Marilyn McCoo could make anything sound good.

She made it her own song.

Classic song, beautiful lyrics, but one MUST hear Ms. Nancy Wilson's cover.
luv u, marilyn, but this is definitely charlene's song.
I love Marilyn to but you are right it belongs to Charlene 2 times.
I don't agree. i'm not crazy about the song, but I think Marilyn has a much nicer voice and did a better job.
Between Charlene and Marilyn, tbh… I believe Marilyn lived the life she describes in the lyrics more so than Charlene. Marilyn sounds like she’s describing it with a kind of wearied voice, like shes describing this amazing life but she’s so over it.
Good
Too bad Marilyn never recorded this one. She should have!!
Some idiots think it's a bad song, they haven't heard Randy Crawford's version.
They hate the lyric, not the tune or the quality of performance (by Charlene). They hate being told that their hedonistic sins are inferior and unfulfilling in the big picture of life.
PLEASE, lady.
karaoke at it's very best.
Its the stupid song not her
Bom ha TDs!
Surprised they allowed the word "whoring" on tv in 1982
the truth should never be hidden
@@tcapone1734 In an over produced song with heavy backup vocals, you can disguise a word here and there.

Marilyn is a good christian woman and probably didn't like the original lyrics.
the only words changed in the song was preacher man to righteous man..and i personally like it better...

Monter Carlo
Hey ! Looks like Whitney Houston !
haha cha chi
wow bradly2007 wants to control comments. bradly2007 sounds boring
Not her best song and I'm a huge fan.
The song stunk
Nancy Wilson owns this song...this version has no soul
bradly2007 has no soul
Hmm emotionless version. This song needs emotion.
Even justin bieber :I
He did this song?!
She is beautiful, but not the soul of Randy Crawford.
actually I like the Mary MacGregor version better, much more upbeat. But yeah, the Charlene version is definitely one of those you don't wanna hear all the time. I could deal with Marilyn's cover all right though
Marilyn looks beautiful-but this is one dreadful song. One of the worst things ever written.
No wonder Edina Monsoon quoted it on "AbFab"
JamesD has always been a crappy person, since he cannot do anything at all
Oh this is beyond terrible! It's not totally McCoo's fault, the song just totally stinks!
crappy James D never sounds good
