Ford Brake Pedal Fade / Goes to Floor FIX

- This Ford Edge has a problem with the brake pedal fading and sinking to the floor before the brakes grab. Ultimately, the issue lies with a sticking value in the ABS hydraulic control unit. However, this few minute trick might save you $1,000+
Good tip. I used this method on my 08 F250 to "fix" my fading brake pedal. It worked. But I have to do the same procedure every other year. It doesn't last. But its cheaper than replacing the brake hydraulic unit.
I just had this same problem (out of the blue) with my 2011 Ford Edge, so I gave your suggestion a shot. Alas, it worked and the brake pedal is solid again. No more squishy brakes. Just hoping the fix lasts for awhile. Thanks, DanielJaegerFilms!
I had the same problem on a 1013 Edge. A Ford tech friend told me to remove the battery to get a clear access to the ABS unit. Then, using a long extension, give it a few hits with a hammer. It worked like a charm and the problems hasn't returned in 3 years.
That fix seems soo good I am going to have to try it. I have changed Boosters due to the squealing vacuum issue, also changed the abs valve body for this issue. To add to it I worked on an edge that had a soft pedal but turned out it was the rear pads were not aligned properly with the notch in the caliper. This caused the piston to push sideways on the pads. So sometimes its not just one thing!
Prob do a scan tool abs brake bleed with the same results.
You can… I had the same issue with my 2012 Mustang after a brake bleed.
Some of them you can run an abs test or actuate the pump.
I have a 2011 flex that doing the ABS bleed didn't fix it. This procedure firmed up the brake pedal.
That is amazing I'll be sure to keep that in mind in case my ABS module does the same thing
Would changing the brake fluid every 2-3 years prevent this? If the fluid is 10 years old it could cause some gunk to appear.
Yep, plus it starts to absorbs moisture from the air.
I was wondering the exact same thing. I bet best practice would be to do this and then change the the brake fluid.
When is the next excursion video
Hey Daniel! I have a question for you. I’ve seen this in a commercial that headlights loose their brightness overtime before they burn out and it seems like the manufacturers of the bulbs is pushing you to change them every so often. Is this true or just run them until they burn out. I’ve never had one burn out yet in the 8 years I’ve owned the car.
If it is a plastic housing, and most are, they become "cloudy" over time and look like they are losing brightness. I realize you might not mean that at all.
From working in a truck shop for many years We replace them when they burn out and only the burned out one at that time There is a difference in brightness between new and old. Noticeable but not a huge difference
Wonder how long the fix will last though
Just so everybody knows he has sold his excursion. I just saw it on his Facebook page posted about five months ago. It hurts to see that thing go but hopefully the next owner will take care of it.
I just looked at his facebook page and couldn’t find a page about him selling it are you sure
@@becplumbing660did you get my link
For some reason it doesn’t want me to post the link going to Facebook

Hey, hope all is well. I need some help with my 2017 ford mustang. My engine won’t start after going through water. What can I do to fix that?
Fully rebuild it or buy a new engine. Water in an engine is the worst thing you could have happen
Where’s the excursion?! I just wonder.
Wow
