    Jack always says he adored flicks. As someone with 0 aerial mechanics I’d love to see a flick tutorial as I think at my rank, a flick is borderline unsave-able

    • @NetherMageRL
      @NetherMageRL Год назад +26

      For real. A well timed flick is really tough to save at higher ranks too.

    • @aonoloki
      @aonoloki Год назад +13

      I'd say start with front flip flick, than diagonal flip flick, even backflip flick, try to catch the ball after a flick for more fun, chain your flick and see if you can push up your best juggle, try to do it at different pace too (An average flick but with quick catch/control will always be more lethal than a slow control and good flick, it leave a huge window for the opponent to challenge if you're having issue keeping the ball on spot to flick)
      after these three, you can start to try the 45 degree flick to pave the road for the most advanced one like mawkzy flick, musty, wizard... Some much flicks, and even more situation to use them
      But I can't stress out how you need to know setup the flicks from a rolling ball, too many are using the feature to place the ball on the top, I was doing it too, helped a lot since I stopped to use it. Catching the ball, control, flick. 3 step to master. You might catch and control in the same move, making it a 2 step instead of 3, but it's in the advance section I'd say

    • @bolsterwow
      @bolsterwow Год назад +2

      try 90 degree flick very easy
      ball on top of car, jump and turn car 90 degrees to the right, then move your analog stick to bottomleft and flick

    There's one thing I disagree with in this tutorial, and that is you shouldn't move your joystick straight to the left/right. Otherwise you just perform a sideflip which gives you no forward momentum. Instead, you'll want to add a tiny angle to both movements. It makes the mechanic a bit harder and more complicated, but it'll greatly increase the effectiveness of the mechanic.
    When the wall is on your left, angle your joystick to the right and a tiny bit downwards, then move straight across to the left and a tiny bit upwards.
    When the wall is on your right, angle your joystick to the left and a tiny bit downwards, then move straight across to the right and a tiny bit upwards.
    The steeper the angle, the harder it is, but adding a bit of angle helps a lot with generating speed.
    Another thing I'd like to add is that you can practice this by using slo-mo settings, starting at 0.5 speed and slowly increasing to normal speed once you're able to perform the mechanic at the set speed.
    Everything else about the tutorial I completely agree with, especially with breaking down the mechanic into parts.

      I feel like jack doesnʻt even realize because itʻs just muscle memory for him at this point. His controller looks like heʻs doing more of a semi circle with the dash happening more at the 1-2 oclock than at the 3. This video and your comment made me realize I've been walldashing all wrong for about a year and I can finally do it consistently now.

    What really helped me improve in learning the Wall Dash was setting the game speed to 60% just to grasp the movement. Thanks to the slower speed, I was able to execute nearly every wall dash perfectly, making it possible for me to learn it much faster. As time passed, I gradually increased the speed to 70%, 80%, and so on until I reached 100%.

When I was first told how to walldash I was told "hold air roll right on right wall or left on left wall and spam jump very very fast"...needless to say I ended up like Jack described in the beginning of the video.
    Jack if you read this, thank you for this tutorial and for being an inspiration to many people in the community. Keep up the good work!

    I keep side flipping into the wall, any tips ? if this happens does this mean I'm pressing the jump button too early, too late ? What am I doing wrong ? It randomly works like 10% of the time and I'm not understanding what I'm doing right when it works. This is so frustrating because everyone keep telling that it's easy.
    EDIT : TIPS : Okay you have to double press the jump button INSALNELY fast, that was it. If you're side flipping into the wall, you're not pressing it fast enough, if you double jump off the wall, you're pressing it when your joystick is too close to the middle.
    If you're too slow try reducing game speed to 50-70% in the training settings until you're confortable enough to up the speed gradually to 100%. You could also try doing it at supersonic speed becuse the faster you are the wider the time frame to do it is. The harsh truth is some people could never do it due to the limitation of their thumbs...
    If you're double jumping off the wall try reducing your dodge deadzone until you figure out the movement.
    Additional tip for when you want to do it with ballcam on and not off like when you were training in freeplay : try thinking down the wall then up the wall, not left then right if on this wall or this wall, this helps a lot to understand the motion and not just remember it.
    Hope this helps !

    In addition to the overlay, may I ask how you grip your controller? Do you angle your thumb like at a 90 degree angle and quick press ( I call it the "woodpecker") like using entire thumb at the hand joint or do you kinda "roll" your thumb (i call it the "dolphin tail flutter") basically pinning your thumb to controller and rolling on and off at the thumb knuckle? I'd love to see some videos showcasing controller gripping with your settings as the overlay shows button presses, but there's several ways to grip controller so I always wonder how pros do it. Love the videos man!!! I'll be supporting you in Ft. Worth. I appreciate u!!!

    Also one thing ive learned is that you dont actually want to flip straight to the side. Just as if you were on the ground, a straight side flip wont accelerate you forwards. So you kinda have to flip slightly forwards into the wall, but not too forward, because then you will just flip off it. Also ive noticed that the further forward you flip, the faster you need to press jump. Hard mechanic to perfect but really satifying when done correctly!

It'd be cool to have your insight on how to execute that correctly, and maybe some thoughts on when to use that vs. grabbing a flip for later!

    • @prime6965
      @prime6965 Год назад

      I can't even do a flip reset consistently but I watch a lot of pro gameplay, so take this with a huge grain of salt. But I believe that typically they do the instant reset/flip when they are trying to get a sudden and unexpected change in the direction of the ball. Eg if they are air dribbling and see a defender who is about to 50 with you, they grab a reset and flip instantly to change the direction of the ball and make the person miss. Whereas the slower version I usually see used in slowed down plays, like when you take a set up wall-to-air dribble and it's a 1v1 situation and you have lots of time. In those cases they use the reset as more of a mind game than anything, sometimes they don't even flip. I do also know that a properly done flip reset can extend how far you can dribble the ball. Often you'll see a pro take the ball from their own wall into the air and dribble it all the way to the opponents goal, and often times they use a flip reset midway through to help extend the duration of the dribble

    As a plat trying to master movement mechanics, I just did my first few sets of wall dashes! Thanks Jack.
    ps. To all those who are going to say I shouldn’t learn this at this rank… I also know how to speed flip, zap dash (inconsistently), and consistent half flips. I just really like going fast in this game and I like learning how to always stay supersonic. I also haven’t grinded ranked in two seasons.

    For the others who are struggling like me. I couldn't press the button fast enough.
    I had success learning it the wrong way first. As in spamming side flip and going into the ceiling until i felt confident in my speed of pressing jump.
    Then switched to moving the stick left and right after to wall dash straight.

      Can you really up your speed though ? I feel like I could never press it fast enough, I'm kinda consistent on 60-70% game speed but that's it

    I find myself either double pressing x too early (on the right wall, this causes me to flip off the wall) or too late (again, on the right wall this causes me to flip into the wall) both result in me losing contact in the wall. Where am I going wrong?

    Helped a lot,I have the problem,that I just hold powerslide and than spam a sideflip,this works for walldashes anytime,but I can’t control it that well,bc I’m sideways pretty often

      Yh I've done that for a while u get better over time I think it's js about doing it enough to control it. And if u end up pressing jump and odd amount of times so u come off the wall, u still have ur flip to recover

    Could you break down a flip reset? Im struggling with what to do after getting the reset, how do I fling the ball like Dan. Do you flip while still on the ball? as soon as you fall off it? create distance then flip?

  • @Wenditto
    @Wenditto 3 месяца назад

    I sometimes do that but with a reset, like I get the reset, then I spam jump and I do like dashes on the ball and I stick to the ball, like the Sideswipe Chain resets. I don't know if it's a new mechanic or not

    Fun fact i have a controller from battletron i got it when mmy at that time ps4 controller broke down and i only had 20 bucks... Turned out it not only had scuf buttona on the back but also a button to use a auto clicker that clicks for 10 times a seccond. And wall dashes eork pretty good with it so theoretically if you can click the x button 10 times a second or faster u could also walldash (lets ignore the fact that none of us are going to click that fast ever while holding the controller normally

    For a good 15 mins I could not figure out why I was double jumping or flipping off, if you have this same problem, it is because you are going left on your stick, then right, but not back to the middle, holding it on the right causes you to flip into the wall, you must let your stick go back to the middle
