Yep, air dribbles are slow and easy to read. Unless you can flip reset into a flick after the defender has gone to air, that shit will get stopped at least 75% of the time in plat+
@@efekurklu8715 wdym "sure"? I played rocket league like 60 hours, then stopped it for a year and started again 3 weeks ago. It took me 2 days from scratch to learn to air dribble into the goal in training packs and on the 3rd day I was able to setup my own air dribble and make it into the goal. Then I learned breezi flicks, ceilingshots, ground dribbles and basic knowledge of the game. Now I can do all of those + musty flick and I'm rn learning to do musty flick ceiling shots and directional air roll control. I'm now plat 3 and on my way to diamond but I mostly play training packs and freeplay.
I've been playing the game for 5 years and have GC now for awhile and this is honestly so enlightening to me. Another amazing way of showcasing this topic and another banger video. I'll be showing this to my students and will be referencing the "Time" vs. "Readability" often. 10:51 went by quickly
I'm a gc who's been playing since season 1, I have thousands of hours in the game so power and creativity are not why my shooting percentage is low. The crossbar is by far the best defender I have ever faced.
I think I'd expand this and add a "third bucket" for "reachability" too. Encompassing things like "how well was the shot placed?" (and sometimes middle of the net shots are better than top corner! it depends on several factors), "do you leave yourself in a position to bump the defender after you start the shot?", "was the shot put behind or in front of a defender who's in the middle of the net?" You said bump plays should be their own thing, but I think adding in this extra metric lets you incorporate them into this model and also will let you describe this extra bit of information that really is important for regular shots too. Even if a shot is very readable, having it be in an awkward place to reach can still make a shot great, regardless of power. (be it because of how the defender was positioned at the start of the play, because it's just a naturally awkward part of the net, or because you're going to get between the defender and that part of the net)
Yeah, maybe I was expecting too much but in truth, there's very important factors not mentioned here. Bumps are not a "separate thing", for starters, but more to the point, you pay a price in boost, position and time for every shot you take. In high level 1s, it can easily be seen that some players shoot more to score and some shoot more to keep possession / improve their position relative to their opponent. They take "bad" shots, by this metric, but pay a very low price and take lots of them. Those shots are strong and viable in every mode at every level, but definitely not because they're unreadable or super fast.
@@adrianorodrigo5820 That is NOT the point. It could be an open net all day, say in free play, yet someone crossbars it or posts it. This video doesn't take into account consistency or ball mechanics, angles of bounces, and so on. It's a limited dimensional view of shooting.

Very good video, some points I would add: -Ability to read the defenders is very important. Certain shots are going to work better depending on where they are, where their car is pointing and so on, and this is very important. Bad shots can become good shots and vice versa because of this. -Going for shots with low time and low readability often carries risk of missing. So actually what you want to do is maximise time and readability whilst still doing enough to score. Or to put it another way, you want to take the easiest shot you possibly can whilst still making sure you score. There's a balance to be had here, and that balance trends more towards taking the best shot (with the lowest time and readability) you can the higher ranked you get, of course. -The skill of "creativity" is slightly deceivingly named, because it depends as much on your mechanical ability as your actual creativity. Thank u so much now I shoot way better!
This is the best rl video by far. You earned a subscriber
This man accurately roasted my offense in about every way possible, he knows what he’s talking about.
Me accidently shooting the ball creatively without even knowing:
I have not even finished yet and it’s already helping a lot
I mainly struggle with what flip to do in order to make the ball move in the direction I want
that thumbnail helped me the most. i kept thinking you score on the wall, and that it bounced off the goal
wow, this is incredible, seriously. been playing this game for years and this is a really good tutorial. subbed!
This is such a good video to the point that rocket league says its to good and gives me a rocket league ad. 📯
Hey wayton, I want to thank you for taking time to make and upload the training. It was very fun to play, if you have more powershots training, please let me know
Just subscribed after watching your video with Khan, Musty, and Sandman. I'm very impressed. Awesome content!
This deserves a lot more likes, just putting that out.
You are probably plat or lower right? Watch for spoon RL exposing this guy for hurting low level players
Random thought: This same advice basically applies to fighting games in so many ways. Great video.
Your videos are the reason I went from silver 3 to gold 3 then now to plat 3 and almost diamond 1.
Sincerely, Noah Siekert
This vis helped me out a lot with my power shots. Great video!
Yo that's insane, the music in 1:39 is also in my epidemic sound playlist so I was like yo wtf.
i'm an optimist so i see it as having buckets with the most amount of unreadability and anti-time
This is a outstanding video, one of the best rocket league videos to help players
I needed this video. I’ve been playing rl for years yet I’m still very inconsistent with my shooting. Thanks
Wayton: I'm gonna throw a TON of information at you but pls stay with me.
Me: Ok! I gotta get my note pad out.
I went from Bronze to SSL after watching this video 🙏 i am subscribing. It took me 20 days to do this thanks 🙏🙏🙏
This video actually helped the last vid I watched was basically “dribble then flick”.
The thumbnail helped alot I now know not to miss the goal, thank you.
@henritjelol lmfao
That creativity packs definitely gonna help👌🏻👌🏻
Hey, thanks for the bucket visualization! I didn't know how to add until you did that, and it totally changed everything I knew about addition
Can't believe this is a video. It's like sport - need so many skills in it
