Well, i had one about 2 years ago; it was the best reverb i EVER heard! But i sent it back. Why? It was TOO good! I just listened to this ultimate reverb tone, on and on, didn't mind what to play, everything sounded so sweet and natural... But now, a bit older/wiser, i bought it again! SURFYBEAR METAL VENTRIS DUAL REVERB NEUNABER IMMERSE 2 EVENTIDE BLACKHOLE etc. pp. Tested them all, but nothing really satisfied. If lucky it'll arrive tomorrow. There's nothing better than something really good!
That 224 Hall C is definitely the best reverb I've yet heard on Heaven Above. It takes it to another level. Reverb is like pubic hair; everyone has it, but we all make different decisions as to what we do with it.
You already know that this is my favorite reverb pedal, but I agree with you that we need to have the ability to edit the presets that combine algorithms.
I picked this up this weekend WOW!!! cannot believe how its transformed my entire rig it just incredible. I got it home & plugged in, chain was Weehbo JTM drive - Strymon Dig - Golden reverb - front of clean amp,. glorious pure world class studio reverb!!. I tried quite a few different verbs as well Was almost going to get the IIilumine but the golden was in a completely different class. If you get the opportunity go & try one, thanks Leon.
Leon is dead on with his closing thoughts, agree 100% - Advanced Editor and some type of hum free USB Hub for MIDI control (MIDI is a pipe dream but an Editor is doable). -- Please Sir, I Want Some More! I see the Astra and Starlight in the background, hope you cover those too. LT, you provide a fantastic educational and inspirational resource with your videos, Thank you!!
I used to own an Eventide DSP7000 and a lexicon rack and this is the ONLY pedal I've heard that comes close to nailing the depth and richness of the rack units!
@@ibanezman1025 probably. The trick is to use the Low Freq & high Freq decay time parameters to mimic what the high/low decays do on the 224 IMO. Start with the Rich hall type and go from there.
Then I'd have to vote for the Astra as well. See how it compares to the TC that I had to run out and buy back in '97 after finding out that it was an essential part of EJ's kit!
Awesome demo as usual, Leon. As you already stated, would love to see UA release some sort of remote/midi control capabilities for their pedals. I own this one as well as the Starlight and Astra. Great pedals. Would love to see/hear your thoughts on those as well!
Thanks for exploring all the possibilities. I have had one for a while, and love it. But after I tried the Tim Pierce preset, it has been parked on Tim's preset ever since.
@@MusicFed if you just want verbs and want something easy to use get this. If you're an obsessive deep diver and want delay/pitch/mod stuff the 81 is fun.
One thing that I'd wish UA would release in an update is kill-dry. Want to run this into a parallel mixer out to a stereo power amp for some W/D/W stuff.
Have a starlight, and while it the best sounding delay I’ve used, I agree about custom “presets” from the makers…like one is a dual delay…obviously they created that sound…why can’t I…the technology is there there do do whatever you want…blows my mind…could make this 8.5/10 pedal to a 10/10… Or let you store a couple favorites and cycle through them with the store button… Also why are there not 100s of presets to choose from I think the starlight have like 30…there should be new ones in there every week
Estava quase para comprar este pedal e desisti. vi muito vídeos e afirmei ,desisto . Passados 5 minutos vejo o seu vídeo e saí correndo comprar um .😂 já está comigo 😅
I appreciate these demos/reviews, Leon! I don’t do ambient stuff, but I love reverb, and you bring the roar. Deciding between this and the Big Sky. I love everything more about the Strymon, except the tones and the price (LOL) but the Big Sky is no slouch, and the feature set is pretty much unbeatable. Currently running a Lexicon MPX1 and I’m not sure if either pedal can beat out the reverb from the rack unit, TBH.
Not a fan of the spring, but that says more about me than the pedal. The plate and hall are gorgeous. Great demo, and I really enjoyed the synth section. Makes me wish I had one and knew what to do with it, lol.

I snorted out loud reading this. That's amazing, I'm using that saying from now on.
Mine didn’t come with a hair next to the pre set button like his haha.
Love the golden with the hydrasynth. Killer
You already know that this is my favorite reverb pedal, but I agree with you that we need to have the ability to edit the presets that combine algorithms.
Excellent choice of guitar for this type of reverb
Great demo man. I love this pedal and it just sounds amazing. The stereo field on it is just the best I’ve ever heard.
Yeah it's the best thing out there at what it does hey
Love my Golden. I could sit on Plate mode B forever and be happy.
Yeah it's a beautiful thing! They nailed it

Great combination of pedals!
Yes the DIG was another solid recommendation from yourself, cheers m8.

Awesome guitar playing. Great video!
Thanks a lot! Love this thing

Yeah this is incredible. High end studio tones in a tiny packagae.
@@LeonTodd Different beasts but do you think the Fractal reverb blocks can do what this does or get in the ballpark?

Which UA Pedal should I demo next? Starlight for the delay junkies or Astra for the chorii squad?
I vote for Astra.
Neither. These pedals have been demoed by a hundred thousand YT'ers already!
@@PerryCodes But if Leon hasn't done it, has it really been done?
@@medved3027 True that. (spoken in the whitest voice you can imagine...)

The 3 of them cover decades worth of amazing tones, it only makes sense to have a way to run them synced
That spring was drippity doo-da.
The plate was great and the back half was Halls to the walls. I also use that UAD plate a lot lol.
Thanks for exploring all the possibilities. I have had one for a while, and love it. But after I tried the Tim Pierce preset, it has been parked on Tim's preset ever since.
yeah the artist presets are really tasty. I loved Tim's Ruby presets
Feels like a overdrive/ distortion almost I don't know much about this box really I like it man.
Its an awesome pedal. It became by go to on the board. Loads of dynamics and tweak-ability.
I can see why!

Man , you made the Ratt riff sound so evil 😁loved it, great demo , the lexicon algo is killer
Ratt'n'roll!
This was one of your best demos, Leon. Amazing! Which amp/speaker did u simulate at 14:30?
I appreciate that, this is one of my favourite pedals! That's the Axe-Fx III USA Lead Mid Gain model with my free TV Mix 7 IR

A nice review Leon. I have no use for the pedal like most of the pedals out there, but it's a good sounding reverb pedal with solid controls.
Thanks mate :)
Guitar sounds great, what tuning are you using?
Drop C on the PRS, Standard on the others
Does the pube by the preset switch come with the pedal?
One must sacrifice a pube to get it to work actually
Pubic Hair is a great name for a pedal by Way Huge.

the reverb okey. but that LES PAUL ❤🔥
which amp did you play here? the overdrive sounds fantastic
Cheers! Using the USA Lead model on my axefx for drive

The 224 mode on the golden is worth it alone IMO
@@LeonTodd My Golden arrived today. Ridiculously good. I have a MPX G2 on the way. This is going to be interesting.
Hi Leon ok you sold me on this pedal - thanks much
Hope you enjoy it!
You did for sure so shall I :) thank you Leon
are you using this in the fx loop? mine has a more pronounced effect when in front of the amp
Yes. Running reverb - distortion is always going to sound a lot more pronounced
How does it compare to the Mercury 7?
Both excellent reverbs. The golden sounds more natural to my ears. The Mercury more out of this world..
That's cool pedal not into reverb much but this is nice .
Damn, its doing a lot already just in the first 4-5 settings
Yeah it's one of those "who cares what the spec sheet says, it sounds GREAT" pedals
Dang, nice autofocus!😊
Only the best

What are you using for the drive ?
Axe-Fx III
How can we judge a reverb on a distorted guitar?
Lay It Down !! #ratt
Great video…but damn that pubic hair has got me on edge…
Maybe a little late on this one Leon ;)
It's just a bit of reverb pre-delay :p
Times are fast! Leon just appreciates already vintage gear for our pleasure, here.. 😉🤣
Prefer it to the typical day 1 blitz
As a watcher of these videos, I generally leave making stupid faces to you. But those 224 modes…wow. Definitely some stupid faces going on over here.
