    Intro: 0:00
    Controls: 1:22
    Spring 65: 3:02

    Hall 224: 12:33
    Other Observations: 20:20
    Conclusion: 24:33
    All synth sounds created using TAL Software's TAL-U-NO-LX. The synth sounds have no effects and simple patches were used to emphasize the character of the pedal.

    I’ve been eyeing this pedal because of UA’s reputation for quality. I appreciate your long form reviews. They’re really well done. Thank you!

    Fantastic video. Your question about the dual stereo engines probably comes down to how the pedal handles stereo inputs from other pedals. If the pedal had a single engine, stereo inputs would be summed to mono. The wet output output of the pedal would be in stereo, but the dry output would be summed to mono. So, if you fed a stereo delay to the pedal set to ping pong repeats, you would lose the bounce effect. Just a theory, but I would imagine that's why UA went to the expense of two engines. Again, this has to be one of the best demos I have seen, of this pedal.

      That's possible. The bigger question (which I unfortunately didn't think about until after I had already filmed this) is, if there are two complete engines inside the pedal, why doesn't UA allow us to run both at the same time!? Who cares about tails when you could have a spring and a 224 running simultaneously? As far as I can tell, it's got the horsepower to do it. And dual reverb functionality would go a long way to justifying the price tag. If only there was an app that could be used to control a feature like this.... Hmmmmmm.

    Really great deep dive. I'm seeing these getting sold for significantly less than the new price now. I think your comment about the studio fidelity being lost on live guitar rigs is spot on and that's why I think synth/studio owners should snap them up and guitarists discard them. I hedged my bets and got the Del Verb and it's a great synth pedal. Not a whole lot of control on the reverb but I don't find myself missing that 70% of the time. I have other reverbs if I need them but if I see one of these for the right price ... Thanks again!

      I actually swapped to a Del Verb on my rig! I was able to consolidate two pedals into one footprint and I don’t miss most of the Golden’s advanced controls in the live environment.

    The Mod function in plate 140 react like a size knob, there maybe more to it though.

    This pedal is made in my country but I can't even find a local dealer selling those 😅

      That's a bummer. Even where I live, I had to place an order and wait for it to come off of backorder!

    great video. What do you think about this vs the CXM1978?

    • @Bloom_Music
      @Bloom_Music  2 года назад

      Unfortunately, I haven’t had a chance to use the CXM 1978 yet. It’s a little out of my price range and I’ve always been happy with UA’s 224 algo (I’m also a long time UAD2 user), so I never felt the need to explore other options. From the videos I’ve seen of the 1978, it sounds great. But does anyone really need flying faders on a stompbox? It’s such an unnecessary extravagance that inflates the price. Ultimately, I think my verdict on the pedal would be similar to the Golden: the fidelity might be worth it in a studio environment, but for live shows, the audience will never know the difference between the 1978 and any of the hundreds of sub-$200 reverb pedals available.

    Hi! how are you recording this pedal after coming out of the stereo outputs? I am planning on getting a prophet-10 which has a mono unbalanced output.

    • @Bloom_Music
      @Bloom_Music  6 месяцев назад +1

      The Golden will do mono-in-stereo-out, so it should play fine with your Prophet. As far as output from the pedal, I was using an adapter to go TRS stereo into my video recorder, but in most cases you will just go dual TS out into a couple inputs on your interface, and then make them a stereo pair in your DAW.

    I mean, it looks beautiful, and sounds beautiful, but a bit overpriced compared to other pedals in its price range. Its a little limited yet basically $100 more than everything comparable to it feature-wise. If it was $299 i may have chosen it over my Meris Mercury 7.

      You're definitely paying the Universal Audio tax here. It may not be worth the price difference to a lot of people, but I will say the UAFX pedals are in a class of their own as far as build quality. It's something that doesn't come across on RUclips; you really need to get your hands on one to appreciate it. They have a weight and feel that makes them seem more like a premium studio effect than a typical guitar pedal. The Golden wouldn't seem out of place sitting on a high end mixing console. Now, someone who plans to velcro it to a pedalboard and stomp all over it probably won't care about any of that. So, whether that premium feel is worth the price difference will vary from user to user.

      @@Bloom_Music yeah, I’m sure the build quality is amazing, it is really nice to have gear that feels solid. I’m definitely the type of person to keep my pedals on a desk and never velcro them since i use them with my synths. High end pedals look very nice next to high end synths😁

      I think the sound is also in a class of its own at what it does - in its price range. It's definitely more limited than some of the competition but every sound possible out of this pedal is just perfect. Nothing is useless or gimmicky. Nothing in the spring, plate or hall category touches UAFX though, for me. Of course its subjective.

    Pay 20% more and get the Source Audio Ventris, which is a true dual reverb with 12 models (and more downloadable), full sound design through an app, and eight on-board presets. It also preserves the reverb tails when switching. I have their delay and it's fantastic.
