Quick guide on how to beat the Mai Challenge (Fiend Sighting 3) in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth in the Junon area with the Whymzelett mobs. For this, you simply need to save your ATB charges and unleash as much damage as you can when the Whymzeletts start to cast Soothing Breeze. When they do, go full damage to pressure the mob which cancels the cast.

For anyone still struggling, you can come back to this challenge on chapter 7 and obliterate these mobs with Yuffie in about 30 seconds with no difficulty at all.
Have her start with First Strike Materia and Ice Materia, get a hit in, then use the Ice Ninjitsu ability. Hold triangle to throw her weapon, then keep spamming square to hit them with ranged basic ice attacks. Her ATB builds SUPER fast so you can keep 1 pressured and then just cast Blizzard on the other when it starts to cast Soothing Breeze. I'll edit this comment with a link to another video to demonstrate.

I do that now and still fail it. They don't even get time to attack. Still fail. They never fly. So that might be the only way is come back at high level cause I kill them now in 30 seconds
OMG! It worked. I added ATB Stagger Materia and Level Boost Materia as insurance.

Pro tip for yall: Aeriths Soul Drain will auto pressure them out of soothing flight and is ranged.

Same! Build ATB with Aerith and swap to other DPS characters and once they start casting, swap to Aerith and use Soul Drain and they stop casting and fall to ground. Beat it on 1st attempt using Smokron strat! Thanks!

Biggest problem is they both do it at the exact same time and the attack pushes you away.
The best method for me was to make sure Aerith always had ATB and MP to hit them with an Aerora whenever they tried to use Soothing Breeze.

I casted Blizzard non stop and it worked if anyone else is struggling with this.
I was getting frustrated so I gave up and decided that I would come back later and just Blizzaga them into frozen hell.

I was there yesterday and thought I had no chance but the trick is magic. Fira / Aeroga / Comet pulls them out of it quite easily. Before I knew that, it was painful because it takes like 3 bravers to stop them.
Yep, Take off auto cast / auto ability. Make sure everyone has blizzard. Speed swap, building up two ATB. Soon as they cast soothing breeze. Double cast blizzard on each one. This will pressure and then stagger them. Make sure one of your characters has Shiva on. Once you stagger them, the limit gauge goes crazy. Summon shiva and keep swapping, building ATB, and having your ice attacks ready… if you didn’t already unalive them from the stagger. This was on Normal.
They use it immediately. Building up ATB hasn’t even been an option for me. I start the battle, run up with my lead character, and they cast Soothing Breeze. Without any First Strike materia, or perhaps lowering the difficulty to Easy, beating this objective is going to be pure fucking RNG.
I finally got the right RNG, but it really is just about being lucky enough to get some ATB built before they decide to cast it, and then hitting them with spells.
That’s strange because I redid this like 6 times and they always cast it like half way through the fight. You just have to bounce between them.
or the other way is wait until your level is much higher
First strike materia. Start w 1 atb. Dodge and hold square to rush for quick hits and another atb pretty quick.
That was my experience too
I tried the soul drain method, didn't work as soul drain is not 100% hit all the time. How i managed is right at the start of the battle, try to swap characters fast and hit as much as possible to keep 2 atb bar at max. When they use soothing breeze, start blasting blizzard/blizzara on them, they get staggered fast. keep doing this and they cant fly at all! to be safe, make sure u have atb bars to use blizzard at all times

I built up ATB and shot two blizzards at each one. That stops them each time.
i just did this and it worked thank you lol. i just combo with parrys and quick attack and immediately use basic blizzard attacks once one them was using soothingbreeze

Level 1 blizzard stops them each individually, from Cloud, let alone Aerith

My trick was build Unbridled strength with Tifa was using Cloud to build up pressure then once they start using Soothing Breeze I hit them with a Magnify Blizzard to pressure of stagger them. By that time Cloud or Tifa is usually enough to finish them off.
Chrono Aegis skill from the timeless rod my aerith had helped me quite a bit, I used her mainly so they target me and whenever they charged me they just got frozen in place, so it gave me enough time to charge skills and keep throwing blizzard

I’m still having trouble. I pressure them right when they use the move but it still says fail! Right after they use the move I use ariths soul drain and then hit em with aero but it keeps saying I failed!

Yeah this is just physically impossible. They always use it way too soon after you deal with one of them or both at the same time. It's just rng bullshit
The solution here is to wait till full game and hopefully by this point in the game, you'll massively overlevel them and not have any trouble at all

Just figured out an easy way to do it just build up atb with the member who has blizzard or whatever the weakness is and when there about to use soothing breeze use blizzard which will pressure then but also stop the soothing breeze 👍
I'm not sure yet, I'm slowly progressing through the game myself. One thing is for sure, you'll unlock chapter selection once completed with a full load out so you'll be able to come back and smash the hell out of it after anyway so I wouldn't worry :)

What do you do when they both use the skill at the same time -.- yeah 4 times they done this to me (I am chapter 4 level 22)
doesn't work, they use it right away, and my ATB doesn't do anything

@thehylianhobbit yeah just beat them 5 more times and every single time I knock them down mid attack and I still don't get the checkmark.
@@sacrilicious154 are you using, cloud, tifa and red 13? I used red 13's ability that takes 2 bars on one, and could and tifa both cast their ice and fire on the other.

Came back with yuffie so i could team her up with aerith to just bombard them with blizzard and yuffies ice abilities. Took them out pretty fast

Here are my tips:
Give all three of your party members Ice Materia. I'd suggest attaching Magnify on two of them and have them on Cloud and Aerith.
Your third party member could be whoever. But attach the third Ice Materia with a Synergy Materia. Synergy is imo the best Materia in the game.
After both enemies get pressured, use Cloud and spam as many Focus Thrusts as possible. This raises the stagger gauge a TON.

I've been at this for an hour and I can't push enough damage to stop one let alone two targets at once. this is ridiculous...
I still haven't got to it in the full release of the game (will tonight). However, if you're struggling, just leave it and come back after. I reckon Yuffie with her Ice ninjitsu will absolutely smash these mobs.
@@TheGameFatherUK I just don't understand why they make it impossible. both fking bird cast it at the same time or one after another. there is no time to get both. I was able to do it in the demo. but in the full release they made it where you had to stop both fking mobs, continuously....

@@TheGameFatherUK my contention is if it's an area thing, I should be able to do it in the area during the time I am there. I shouldn't have to come back to finish this shit. if rng is always used to time things it's solely a time suck and should be completely removed from the game. I play games for enjoyment, not frustration.... I'm seriously considering dropping the game over this ridiculous bull shit. It was prevalent in the demo too. I should have saved my money...

The assess is complete BS on these.
It says they're weak against ice but ice didn't do shit for me.
Aero immediately stopped them casting soothing breeze and just a couple of hits after that staggered them.
It was on about my sixth retry when I decided to ignore the Assess info and try Aero instead and it worked first time 🙄

Sorry but these challenges being mandatory for non-trophy rewards brings the game down a peg. The mechanics are not reliable enough to make this mandatory.
There is a lot of RNG in the game across a lot of encounters and mini games, too much imo.
