The synergy abilities and inability to actually upgrade weapons to increase materia slots/damage in this game really confused me but im getting the hang of it. As a button masher that is just getting into these style of games this is helpful for my lizard brain. Respect to the OGs who did the legit turn based. The action turn based is so non-intuitive for me but very satisfying when successful!
It's an after though, things are happening at 100mph with enemies and teammates jumping everywhere, trying to perform a prefect block is just God damn luck based. In a game like Elden Ring where enemies telegraphed their attacks and you're fighting something one on one, that makes sense.
Cool game but the combat seems a bit unnecessarily convoluted.. jumped right in to it after replaying crisis core and i gained a new appreciation for the simplicity of the Crisis core combat. Seems like the combat has become way more complicated than FF7 remake.
I don't like the cheat code of switching to easy difficulty without any penalty or xp loss per battle. Easy mode for x4 fast XP grind and boost on classified intel = extreme power xp boost. 3rd region and i'm lvl 50 already because instead of traditional monster grind in the "lands" you can repeat infinite classified. BTW this info is classified.

Wow it's funny how in actual game play mode you cannot notice the difference as my eyes glue onto the ATB bar here! However recalling successes when I used it comes to mind and one guide had it on all three players!
the main element of combat is constantly changing between characters, building their ATB and using their abilities. also you can use synergy attacks with R1 and corresponding face button that will build stagger and ATB for whichever character you synergize with for those commands
What do you mean when you say that Red has the fastest block activation? As far as I can tell, every character blocks instantaneously, but you generally can't block, if you're already in the middle of an animation. I believe that some attacks have parts of their animation that are block cancellable (such as the repeating portion of the punisher mode combo), but this doesn't seem to be the case with any of Red's attacks.
