Sunset Boulevard stretches from Downtown Los Angeles westward to the Pacific Ocean. A viewer suggested I fly my helicopter the length of Sunset Blvd, so that exactly what I did. From Downtown LA, past Echo Park, Hollywood, Beverly Hills, Brentwood, and Pacific Palisades, over the Playboy Mansion and the Sunset strip, finally reaching the Pacific Coast Highway near Will Rogers State Beach.
Naturally, I flew the length of Sunset Blvd during one of LA’s spectacular sunsets. And to keep things interesting I brought along a friend and talented RUclipsr, Mike Danger. You can find him on Instagram @yesmikedanger or on / yesmikedanger .

If you had a mansion, what outrageously expensive decoration would you add?
A huge gold plated helipad so Mika can come to visit anytime he wants
It won't be that expensive but I'd have different colours/shades of pavers to make a large image of my favourite painting 'The Scream' by Edvard Munch you could only see from the sky.
Probably a small collection of cars.

the mansion at 12:00 that you turned around to see is the mansion built by Aaron Spelling. built in 1988 it actually has 123 rooms, far more than the 38 you were joking about.
It was the biggest residential house in America for quite a long time, and sold for $100MM, so it's a bit more than "really fancy". 😀 BTW, their near-next-door neighbors, the Playboy Mansion isn't the Playboy Mansion anymore, it's owned by the family who owns Hostess, so it's more like the Little Debbie Mansion.
This is some fun stuff. I'm from California, living in Michigan, but even if I was not from Cali, this would still be fascinating.

I was just thinking of one place I'd like to see. The house that the character on the Amazon's series Bosch uses. It is on a bluff. Not sure where it is but somewhere in greater LA I believe.
Note: I just looked it up and the address is 1870 Blue Heights Drive, Los Angeles, CA 90069 . Turns out it isn't that far from Sunset Blvd - due north of Sunset Strip - so I'll have to review this video to see if you caught it.

When I was last in LA to visit my brother who lives in Sylmar, I drove us the length of Sunset from close to the begining all the way out to PCH. We also ate Gladstones.

Another awesome video! I enjoy your flights over LA. It's a massive city (or I should say 'cities'). I love architecture, so it is great to see all the beautiful buildings. Being a wealthy city there is a lot of extra money put into design, so you don't have a lot of plain square or rectangular box-shaped towers. I also like that you point out specific buildings or locations. There are many places that I have heard about and it is great to see them, and their locations, within this megacity. It's a cool city made even cooler by the coolest helicopter pilot! 😊 Seriously, you rock! Thank you Micah!! 👍 I just subscribed to Mike Danger's RUclips channel and will check out his videos soon.

When you have passed the 101. You are flying over 4 really great music studios. EastWest studios, United Recording studios, Westlake Studios (Michael Jackson...) and the pearl: Sunset Sound Studios. And i guess some other studios. You nailed Sunset 🙂

Following Sunset Blvd was fun, but what I find impressive are the boulevards that go straight as an arrow for miles across the metroplex with no deviation at city and town boundaries.
I'm ready for my close up.
Really enjoyed this flight and it brought back a lot of memories for me. Timing seemed to have been perfect with the heading into the sunset... and great photography as well. Wow 40 years ago I saw the band X with Ray Manzarek, at the Whisky! It's not "PCH" anymore? Man I'm old.

Right after the playboy mansion, the house that is so ridiculously huge that you been had to circle back happens to be the former Spelling Home (think Aaron or Tori Spelling). It sold for $160million

At 11:16. the house in lower right across from Playboy West is Walt Disney's old property. His house is gone , his train barn has been relocated to Griffith Park and the new owners built this. At 12:00, Arron Spelling's house. Cool flight !
Hey again Micah, at 14:27 Dan Bilzarian's house is fully in frame as well. "The Goat" insignia's are clearly seen on the roof and driveway. Dan's house is huge, so it gives quite a perspective of how gigantic the compound above Dan's with the Jeff Koons artwork is!

One place you flew over was 14400 Sunset Blvd, Pacific Palisades, which Beach Boy Dennis Wilson was living in in 1968, when the Manson family sort of moved into for several months.
Love that detail. Sunset is a true treasure trove of LA history.

Mr. Muzio: Great videos! Re a few questions/comments I have heard on the IRVINE vid. (1) Why are they growing so many trees near the I5 through Irvine? They grow trees in areas between high-voltage towers as nothing else can reasonably be done with that space. (2) Why so much farm land in Irvine & Costa Mesa regions? The owners are holding the land as future investment. As working farmland, taxes are probably a great deal cheaper. I would think a lot of that land was grandfathered in to better tax situations or have remained in families a long time.
Just flew around LA in Microsoft Flight Sim 2020 and compared your video to the game and it's frightening how realistic it is. Perhaps you could do a video comparing the game with real-life, though no helicopters are in the game yet.

You casually dropped that into the conversation when passing the Whisky a Go Go haha. What instrument did you play?
I played bass and sang in a band called Schwag back in the late 90s. We opened a couple of times for Blink 182. Good fun!

Here’s a suggestion to do, have you ever flown to where M*A*S*H was shot on location and landed on the helipad that they used at that location? You should be able to recreate some of those scenes from the show, with a go pro sitting on the ground

How much if any helicopter noise is decreased in the cockpit with doors on vs off
With the doors off it's much noisier. Both due to increased wind noise and the fact that the exhaust pipe sits just aft of the pilot seat.
