    The previous video you said to use a smoke machine. For your leak!! It was leaking from esim for your car. Where others can leak anywhere within the evap SYSTEM. I understand. But still thank you for this video.

    Had a 2008 Jeep Liberty come into the shop today. Had P0456 small leak. The gas cap had already been replaced by the customer. I smoke tested the hose from the purge valve going to the charcoal canister and smoke tested the hose from the purge valve to the intake. Found no leaks (that I could see) so I recommend the ESIM as my coworker who used to work for Chrysler told me he’s replaced a ton of those. I hope I didn’t misdiagnose it.
    Edit: I also commanded the purge valve on and verified it worked. Also smoked tested the purge valve and it was fine. Verified the ESIM was receiving the 5V and blew air into it and verified it was grounded. Think it was the ESIM? I didn’t know what else to do.

    • @OnlineMechanicTips

      Not sure how your smoke machine set up but you may not alway visibly see smoke but still have a leak. Thats why the air test work so much better. You may not see it but you know its still there, but from there its just a matter of isolation. Thanks for watching, are you subscribed to the channel?

      @@OnlineMechanicTips Right that’s why I hate small leaks it’s hard to find. I didn’t see any smoke coming from the fuel pump either. Our smoke machine blows air as well as smoke and has a gauge. Im only a few years in this career and guess I’m still not super experienced and don’t really know how to read the gauge. I need to learn it though. And no I’m not but I will man you were helpful.

    I had exhaust manifolds replaced on a grand cherokee 2012 hemi. I do have a random small evap leak usually pops up after it rains outside.
    Question i have is one week after the manfolds were replaced i now have a misfire in cylinder 3. I changed plugs and swapped coil packs. Did not fix. Could it be from the small evap leak or do you think something more sinister?? Hoping is not internal as my back hates that position leaning into that engine compartment. Please i would really appreciate your knowledge. Yes im subscribed.

    • @OnlineMechanicTips
      @OnlineMechanicTips  2 года назад

      Hey bud, no, highly unlikely an evap leak causing your misfire. If this didn't start until after manifolds replace, you may should wonder if the flow rate of these exhaust parts meets oem specs. I've seen cat convertor as well as manifold cause problems that translate into misfires

    On a 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee with a bad ESIM and no other leaks detected. Will the check engine light need to be reset once the ESIM has been replaced?

    • @OnlineMechanicTips
      @OnlineMechanicTips  Год назад +2

      So the way that works is that the computer will retest it on its own and when it determines theres no more leak, it will turn the light off on its on. Problem with that is it could take days. You can however use a scan tool to simply erase the code once you certain its repaired.

    Does the reflash apply to 2016 GC ? I replaced a esim like a dummy and stilll got P0456. I have a choice to take it down to dodge for 2 bills or a local for the smoke test just because I dont have a lift. Would i be able to buy my own smoke machine and just check it with the inner fender off?

    • @OnlineMechanicTips
      @OnlineMechanicTips  2 года назад

      Yes you can do that but why invest in buying a smoke machine when you can get the system diagnososed and they smoke it and tell you where the leak at? P0456 does not mean the ESIM leaking. It means theres a small leak. Where? you will not know until tested. Was there any other codes? Also are you subscribed to the channel?

I plugged my OBD and that is the only code thankfully, I was thinkng of asking the dealer to flash the car but im sure iit would be correct way and have the dealer diagnose it. They have to tell me exactly what and where and then I would go on from there. I presume you mean these flashes are in a rare occurrence of no leaks yet the code still persists? Again thank you for your immense help !!!

    • @OnlineMechanicTips
      @OnlineMechanicTips  Год назад

      I will say this again as I say in the beginning. You should start with a diagnosis. You had a P0456 and if you simply just replaced the ESIM without finding out if the ESIM was your problem, you merely guessed at it. That happens, I get it. So if you intend to further guess, yes, a purge can also cause this problem. But so will a host of other parts.

      Hello my friend, the video on the ESIM is how to replace it in the event thats your problem. All P0456 problems not because of a leaking ESIM. You suppose to get car tested/leak checked in order to find leak then replace parts as needed. Do you Jeep have the Hemi motor in it?

    • @OnlineMechanicTips
      @OnlineMechanicTips  3 года назад +3

      Hello my friend. Making evap leak repairs without knowing where the evap leak located at can get expensive. We call this guessing, now there are a number of reasons your GC can have a evap leak but the best way to properly find it is to use a smoke machine. It could be the purge valve, it could be the cap-less system, you just dont no. Now with this code indicating a large evap leak, sometime you can visually find the leak without tools, so look around real good at all the evap hoses and purge sys first. Please thumbs up the video and subscribe to the channel, thanks

      @@SirDav00 Ok let me say this. The average shop will likely charge 1 hour labor to do a evap sys smoke test. What ever the shop charges per hour dictate that amount. We charge $200 per labor hours. From there you will learn exactly where the small leak at instead of guessing. The remaining amout will go towards the repairs needed.
