As a widow, thank you for posting this! I’m not a mechanic & now that my hubby passed I’ve got to become somewhat of one. This video is very helpful & appreciated.
You have my condolences, ma'am. Do you have a Chilton's or Haynes' manual (preferably both) for your vehicles? The reason I ask is because they will go through the troubleshooting and repair steps for a given problem and allow you to decide if the repair is something you can undertake yourself (lamp replacement and tire pressure, oil level, and coolant level checking), something you can see yourself undertaking in the future (oil change, tire rotation), or something you will leave to the pros (front-end alignment, engine overhaul, clutch and transmission work). I have seen that quite a few community colleges offer adult education courses that cover automobile maintenance. They can help you learn what you can do, what you can plan to do in the future, and what you probably want to refer to the pros if your vehicle needs it.
I am surprised that this isn't taught in driver's education school. There's a whole lot to learn when gettin' behind the wheel of a car and what features there are to ensure protocol procedures for safety concerns, precautions and measurements to maintain. But it's no one's fault of not knowing any of it future-wise. Driver's Ed should really be taught most importantly to kids in high school, I know they eager of wantin' to drive a car like everyone else in the world gets to.
As a mechanic I completely agree. Airplane pilots need to learn what every gauge, dial and light means.... I'd like to see a basic auto maintenance class taught in conjunction with drivers ed. People don't need to know all that I do, but should have the ability to jump start their car, change a tire, wiper blades, check fuses, and know how to check all fluids. Guess we don't need people driving a 2 ton machine in residential areas to know these things....
Road safety symbols and compulsory indications while driving were been taught to the learner in driving school, And it's a Brand specific symbols which will appear in cars dashboard. Each and every car has it's own mandatory signals & symbols ..... V need to know the meaning of that symbol what exactly it means, By better knowing it V can Re-pair the system where the fault has been occurred....... Generally every individual genuine parts which gives better performance & durable/compatible were paired to work properly as of their required output in the manufacturer assembling Unit ...... And it is the welcoming feature after the advancement in the automobile engineering......
I have found this particular video very important, and well detailed and clearly explained to me,it has taken me a couple of days to draw every symbol and write down their identification names, and also notes in a book, but I thank God that am now done with all the drawings and notes taking work, thank you Sir, indeed your video has taught me alot of things I never knew before 🙌👍❤️
I've been driving my 2022 BRZ in track mode (traction always off) since April. During my roadtrip this summer, I got lost in a muddy dirt road and it's probably the most fun I had. Had the traction control activated for the first few times I drove in a dirt road to learn how my car was handling the dirt.
Why would you always have traction control off? You’re just asking to get seriously hurt. What if you’re driving down the highway and you hit some kind of bump and completely lose control when you could’ve recovered
@@Akotski-ys9rr you sound no fun. Also traction control is not needed. What do you happend with cars before the 1980's? There was no traction control then, and people were still driving lambos and such. Driving without tractoin control is not hard. Its not much different. Traction control sorta limits the throttle response when losing grip. This is why people often disable it when the car is stuck in snow, since it will just not give enough throttle to get out of the snow, since it will start limiting it. Traction control is only needed in heavy thunderstorms or heavy snowstorms
Wish I had traction control at the time while driving old cars and trucks (all rear wheel drives) spun out a few times on the freeway due to rain and black ice at normal speeds. Trucks in particular, very light at the rear. I even saw a car flipped over on the freeway in front of me, he was driving normal going straight on a dry road. Needed an ambulance and jaws of life.
Also if you put a high-performance engine or performance parts causing you’re engine to make more power in your vehicle and you forget to upgrade your cooling system that can cause a major problem of overheating, because your stock cooling system is not built for that kind of stress. it may be still fine to use for some upgrades but there is a certain limit before you stock cooling system needs to be upgraded
This is valuable info to me. I nearly damaged my engine car yesterday. Almost all this significant showcase on my screen. I just got my first car and I no nothing much on cars. Thanks for this great information 😊
Every time when the light turns on i change the engine oil, and I change the engine oil every three months when the light appears on the dashboard of car which is, change engine oil soon, and i reset it on every oil change thanks and keep up the good work
thank you im not a mechanic but i consider becoming one and studying hard. i love to learn and master and certified mid skills. i will alway check back and review til i got it down pack for mine permit test and license test. and the future in mine life
I'd like to have multiple steps of warnings: White: Reminder Green: No damaged system Orange: Warnung, Check is recommended Red: Check emmideantly or you will be lost where you are and you will die😆-This explains by itself ofciurse. Since i am 14, this Viedeo is very helpful for my Future driving-school. Thanks! Oh, and i apoligize for my writing, i am from Germany and auto correct is spelling some things wrong.
This is a great video. That can't be stored in your phone. It would be far more easier to access this information than, Then going through the owner's manual. Thank you😅
Well Informative. This is a one to keep. I am subscribing straight away. One video that answers all my question about warning light in cars and it's just part 1🤗🤭🤭🤭🤭👏.
I've got something to add to the Transmission temp segment. The standard operating limits vary by make, class, and model. Example: my mother's 2017 F-150 XLT has a normal operating temp of about 195F on colder days and 210F on hot days Also, some older vehicles have a specific space on the shift range for O/D, making the range 7 or 6 slots depending on if you have a LOW slot under DRIVE
So for Tire Pressure Warning Light 6:18 when it blinks for a little bit and then it just goes solid, it indicates that you have a Tire Pressure Sensor Fault, so another thing to keep in mind.
yes! I have been having a tire pressure sensor issue for almost two years now... ive had it fixed several times and it comes right back on after getting fixed
What does it mean to have a tire pressure sensor fault? Because my dads rav4 I took it to the tire shop because it kept marking the tire pressure symbol and even after the tires were topped off it still had the symbol on. Please help me 😅
6:18 for the Tire Pressure Monitoring System, the light can come on for multiple reasons, if its the cross section, solid is a monitored tire (in some cases where the words TPMS also shows, it means the wheels with working sensors will still monitor but one or more have failed) pressue is being detected as low, which can be from never regularly checking pressures, nails, sitting for an extended time, the tire is failing, the tire isnt sitting on the rim properly, or the sensor is failing. It will also flash, when its flashing, one or more sensors are dead, improperly installed, not programmed or trained to the car, or missing/destroyed. Not all cars have sensors, and use the ABS to gauge pressures, depending on the car, it will only throw the light, and will only flash if the spare, or an improper size tire is fitted
That is only a option if it comes on whilst the engine has been struggling for a bit, typically happens in trucks and that is when it is time to do that
My dad has the powertrain fault light on his chevrolet orlando 2013 ever since he bought it he said it already has that wrench thing and he doesnt know what it means, now we know thank u, by the way its a second hand
Mine has only one of those...a brake warning light if the parking brake is on or there is a pressure differential between the two sides of the master cylinder. I like it that way. Oil and alternator output are gauges.
Awesome information, however some of the cars have electronic power steering which doesn*t use power steering fluid , like for example Hyundai , when there is a problem with the system, the following lights go on, ABS, the steering wheel with the exclamation , anti skidding or stability control because they built it that way, it can be a couple of things, inner or outer arms or both among the many things in the front suspension it will stay on.
Fun fact: on 2015 and newer mopars equipped with the 6.4L Hemi or 6.2L Supercharged Hemi, without a 4 digit code, the engine will only output 3hp which is barely enough to even idle it
28:23 low beam light 28:30 lamp out/exterior light 28:49 high beam light 28:58 auto high beam 29:14 headlight range light 29:26 front fog light 29:32 adaptive light system 30:03 side light 30:17 rear fog lights on 30:37 rain and light Sensor 30:58 end

For the first one-you don't need to shut your engine. When it's overheating it's best to stop with working engine,so the cooling will work.
