Thank you for posting about this round. For my area, Grendel seems to be a funny cartridge to find. I go looking for Grendel and get told "That's a niche cartridge that no one carries, but we can't seem to keep Grendel stuff in stock." to which I reply, "If you can't keep it in stock, why don't you get more? This sounds like a good seller." Go back a week later and still nothing, "Oh, we didn't replenish that." Then said retailer complains about me buying online because that's the only place I can find Grendel.
You might get a little more performance from 6ARC, by the numbers, but the grendel is a great performer also, I shot it a lot at 700yrds (as far as I could shoot at the time) with the old 123 sst loading from Hornady. I splurged on the 22" JP barrel, and it shot lights out. I eventually sold the barrel to my brother, and it has been a go to deer rifle for his kids. He says "it kills everything I point it at". He has killed mule deer very effectively, and ethically at 350 yrds
Love my 6.5 Grendel! 4 whitetails dropped with 123 grain with one dead on the spot and 3 only making it 100'. Heart or liver popped with very little collateral on the meat. I really want to get a second upper tuned it for lighter varmint pills with a thermal.
Thank you, Joel. I've done some initial tests with the ELD-VT bullet and found PowerPro Varmint to provide great velocity with good accuracy. TAC is slightly slower, perhaps a bit more accurate.
First time I ever watched one of your videos very good getting into long distance shooting myself. I have a Grindel. I really enjoy shooting it, but I have a hard time finding a good mag. I always have to modify them to make them work. What are you using in yours if you don’t mind me asking
hmm that's unfortunate - I haven't had any trouble with any of the grendel mags I've tried. Amend2, official grendel mags from Alexander Arms, midwayUSA brand mags, etc. I've probably tried 5 different brands and haven't run into any problems. Thanks for watching.
Love my Grendel. 20” BCA shoots moa or better. I’ve only been behind a trigger for 4 years.. (still learning) picked up some Norma 100gr GTX BTHP for a good price. Bought 700 projos for $150 last winter. I can only stretch out to 600 where I live.. average about 8” group at 600yd. Some days better.. rings a 12” plate at 630 (back stop of range) with 4.1mil of hold.. effortlessly. should be around 2700fps using math not a chrono. Hits it fast & with some energy vs the 223. Is it the best cartridge out there? No, is it great? Yup. Just a hair more recoil than a hot load of 223… such a fun & easy shooter.. great for beginners, small people, kids & for hobbiest who like gas guns.. Should be able to poke a commie @ 6 in the thinker with ease.. that’s why she was built😉
Joel, you mentioned the 100VT gave you an extra 100fps, but you never mentioned what the actual velocities of the two different rounds were. Do you recall? Thanks.
100gr ELD-VT has been doing 2690fps avg for 18" Grendel ARs. I've shot it out to 700yds, 800yds, and 1k first outing with my 17.6" Lilja Grendel. I haven't been off steel with it yet. My 8yr-old son went 5/6 at 1k on the big gong, his first time shooting past 400yds.
@@PrecisionRifleNetwork any update on this? Need to get myself one of those Garmins so I don’t have to use other peoples real life velocities with certain barrel lengths 🤦♂️
velocity of the hornady black stuff at the beginning, I didn't say, and I can't remember. The 100grain varmint I did say in the video. sorry...I'm not going to go back through the vid myself to get that info for you. Appreciate you watching though. also, I have had several different Alexander Arms rifles over the years and mine have all been really good.
Sorry getting old memories getting poor when u hit 70 won't comment anymore I'll just watch used to luv shooting till I hit 75 things u luv don't luv u sorry again just like Grendel videos guess it's a pain dealing with us farts
@PrecisionRifleNetwork - lol you *NEVER* read the velocity. Just ES and SD and that it neted you ~100 fps over the 123s.. I guess it's your channel. So you do what you want. But it was a bit of a disservice. It was the primary thing that I was wanting from this 16 minutes of my life. I wouldn't even have stayed for the whole thing if you didn't add this comment stating *explicitly* that you called the velocity in the video. Maybe as you get older start using a checklist or something when creating videos?🤷♂️ Hopefully you can at least understand my frustration, regardless of the fact that you won't care.
Nice video, but I really wish you would’ve shared the average velocity of the two different rounds and then shot them both at the longer range and talked about the difference in drop and drift needed… To me that was the whole point of the video to talk about how the 100g would probably shoot flatter with negligible difference in drift at predator hunting ranges. But instead, this was just a video of you shooting a gun…
The point of the video was an accuracy test of the 100gr ammo, which I did, and also an overview of the scope, which I definitely did. This was not a comparison of one ammo versus the other. Thanks for watching and commenting.

😂 yep this sounds all too familiar.
I know that song too!

131 factory loads by my last count.
Thanks for the Grendel video, will try this ammo out. Happy New Years!!!
Thanks for the comment. Happy New Year to you as well!
Thanks for calling out the dirt bags!
You bet!
Totally agree with your rant! You pack it in you pack it out! Few bad apples ruin things for everyone

Props on calling out the trashers... They mess it up for everyone.
Agree. thanks for watching and commenting.
Good stuff - and appreciate the rant against range slobs!
Thanks !
Love the rant! Amen brother

Good to know. Thanks for watching.
Powder pro varmint, not in production anymore 😢
@@joelclark2130 That's a shame. I'm pretty much out. It was a rocket in my rifle under that bullet.
H322 smokesPPV in the Grendel and its temp stable.
@@andythies7133 Thanks. I'll give it a try.

I’ve found Grendel to work on deer at 420 (was using black)
Oh I agree that it’ll work. I just think there are probably better tools for that job.
Is it really that quiet that you dont need ear protection?
I think so. The wind was blowing away from me, but it really wasn't that loud. I will say, my hearing isn't what it used to be...LOL
Joel, you mentioned the 100VT gave you an extra 100fps, but you never mentioned what the actual velocities of the two different rounds were. Do you recall? Thanks.
Dang, you’re right. I’ll have to go back and check the Garmin.

Could you put up a parts list for the 6.5 GRENDEL you just put up on shorts sitting out on a tripod. Thank you.1-11-25
That’s going to be easy…it’s a complete factory rifle from Alexander Arms. Ha.
@ that was too easy now I have to do is go buy one😍
Who had the energy to haul a wheel barrel out there, then couldn't pick it up??
Right?! So weird. Freaking humans.
Good video. We reviewed the maven also. Good scope.
thanks man.
Yup. Good video. Love the grendel. Nice gun. Hate that too. The idiots that dont clean up after themselves. U are dead on.
Thanks. Appreciate the comment.
I think les baer made it first????? 264LBC
Second. The 264LBC is a copy.
Technically not the same according to saami, but very close.
Les Baer was one of the first who licensed 6.5 Grendel from AA pre-SAAMI in the 2000s. Then he made a tighter neck version he called .264 LBC.
Your rifle is under gassed. Brass should eject between 2-3 o’clock for a suppressed ar platform
“Should” is relative. It functions just fine. Just shoot and have fun. I appreciate the comment though. Thanks for watching.
