Just read about his Parkinson's diagnosis. Super sad news for Glenn. One of the best Guitarist around for sure. Wishing you best of health and happiness.
This man is the definition of a true rock star. He found the secret to life. Find your passion, work hard, travel the world and bring smiles and happiness to many people, while making money. Thanks for all the music Glenn.
the way Tipton & Downing evolved is unparalleled in music. Just look at their work from Rocka Roll and picture them doing the Painkiller riffs & solos 16 years later. People think about the big 4 around that era but only Mustaine/Friedman could possibly keep up with them in 1990! They mastered every technique there is, and live they sound just as good or better than studio.
Ram It Down is so fucking ridiculously awesome lol. I learned All Guns Blazing a while ago (which is still a freaking hard solo) but Ram It Down is on another level!
One of the most underrated guitar players of all time. His technique and style is one that nobody can emulate. Just look at some of the covers on RUclips. They may sound close but they're not what Tipton played. He was a wizard at double-stops in place of power chords. MK
One of the most underrated guitarists of all time. His solo in "Beyond the Realms of Death" is one of the most melodic and intense ever written. Thank you for sharing! MK
Lessons from Glenn Tipton, that was awesome. I first saw Priest in 1979 with Kiss and it changed my life. It was an incredible show. That was the first time I heard them and it was amazing.
I clearly remember walking into a record store in the seventies, where they just put a new record on the shop's sound system and Victim Of Changes filled the room. I was shocked by the richness of sound and the tightness of playing. This was something else! I have been a fan ever since.
Glen is simply the paragon of what all Heavy Metal guitarist's should aspire to be. Amazing how he plays and makes difficult riffs look easy. Rock on Glen !!!
This works fine for those of us who have been playing for awhile. Who needs notes, frets, & strings called out when your looking at the person & can see the position that they are in. My only complaint would be that it's too damn short. I had a chance to meet Glen briefly before a show on the British Steel tour. Helluva nice chap! Sat at 3rd row center for that show at San Diego State University Amphitheater, right behind Jake E. Lee. Only time I ever saw them do Beyond The Realms of Death live. A terrific memory. Still have the ticket stub to prove it. Among hundreds.
Glenn you have always been one of my favorite guitarist I used to play and act like you n stage my friends used to call me Glenn because of how I tried to be like you thanks
Brilliant - all three songs have that Tipton trademark sound - which he (obviously) invented - and it's a sound (and style) that's taken so much for granted nowadays - but Tipton was first.
The forces of rock brought Glenn and KK together and then the greatest metal band of all time was created. I've seen a lot of bands, but the Priest was mind blowing! I am most certain that after these guys played the arena was in need of structural inspections.
Great guitarist, first saw Judas priest in late 80's at Hollywood sportatorium FL, great show, 5tg row from stage, halford came out of some doors from under the stage flying out onto the stage on a Harley, was a great concert, great live band, wishing you all the best Glen Tipton.
Glenn is a class of his own and one of the top guitarists - I first saw him in 78 on a pre gig to AC /DC playing his Gibson SG and he just left me speechless in how he performed and played.
I've been listening to Heavy Metal for over 35 years now and I consider Glenn my second favorite guitar player of all time. His style and technique are second to none. His solos sound exactly like the record and sometimes better live. It takes him no effort what so ever to play and that is the mark of an exceptional guitar player.
This guy is a true guitar hero. He has a lot of idiosyncrasies in his playing, that make him interesting to listen to (his sweeping technique is so unique sounding for example).
It is such a good thing Priest got Tipton in 1974.....KK is great too but didn't have the "blues/southern rock" sound that Glenn had that gave Judas Priest that signature sound. ......while KK has the Hendrix-like maniacal solos, Glenn has the bluesy and catchy riffs.
Watching Glenn perform on a Judas Priest live concert 🎶 video is a thing of beauty & hard work. Easily one of the best guitarists, both studio & especially live.
did anyone ever see glenn play the tapping solo live? because when i saw him doit it was an arpegiated sweep picking riff where he just holds the chord and no two handed tapping , he looked at me standing there with a confused look on my face and he did that big smile
I think I read in an interview that he changed to ENGL amps some while ago. Anyway I still think that it's the guitarist himself still that defines most of his tone. So no matter what amps Glenn uses he will always sound great =).
mattleek12: Actually, Glenn Tipton should be an inspiration to all aspiring guitarists, and not just for Judas Priest: He didn't pick up the guitar until he was 21! His musical training stems from having studied piano with his mother. Just goes to show you how crucial it is to have solid education and knowledge of music theory - if you can read music, it'll save you A LOT of time. I played cello for a number of years, so going into guitar I already knew about timing, reading notes, etc.
There's a slightly better quality of this video at the following link:

Yeah, so sad, especially to happen to a musician who really put his heart into his music. Best wishes to Glenn as well.
I think my heart literally broke when I heard, he's a remarkable human being and wrote some of the most memorable riffs and solos of all time.
Damn sorry to hear rock on Glenn!!
Hey Glenn don't give up mate.
This man is the definition of a true rock star. He found the secret to life. Find your passion, work hard, travel the world and bring smiles and happiness to many people, while making money. Thanks for all the music Glenn.
Well, he got me practicing hard for a number of years!
Glen Tipton..one of the all time greatest metal/hard rock guitarist on the planet!!!
the way Tipton & Downing evolved is unparalleled in music. Just look at their work from Rocka Roll and picture them doing the Painkiller riffs & solos 16 years later. Nick R living after midnight and highly solos can be played by any first year player. Painkiller and ram it down? Hahaha good luck
Ram It Down is so fucking ridiculously awesome lol. I learned All Guns Blazing a while ago (which is still a freaking hard solo) but Ram It Down is on another level!
Best comment award...although u left out Lynch.
Glenn and Ken are legendary fathers of metal
that's beacuse priest are the metal gods!^^
I think Tipton is one of the greatest rock guitar players on the planet!
On that we can agree!
Of course he is!!
lol you made the same comment a year before
Yeah Glen Tipton, KK Downing are my favorite and Dave Murray and Adrian smith are totally bad ass also.
Definitely
Unbelievable watching his fingers sliding so smooth over the neck..A great guitarist considering he first picked up the guitar with 20 years of age!
One of the most underrated guitar players of all time. His technique and style is one that nobody can emulate. Just look at some of the covers on RUclips. They may sound close but they're not what Tipton played. He was a wizard at double-stops in place of power chords.

I love the solo on Beyond The Realms Of Death so much feeling in that piece Glenn nails it everytime
Glen is a real life METAL GOD!
Their music always takes me back to my youth when I was happy and strong. Growing up and growing old sucks.
I could watch Glenn play all day...wish there was additional footage of this!
One of the most underrated guitarists of all time. His solo in "Beyond the Realms of Death" is one of the most melodic and intense ever written. Thank you for sharing!

i like how he has to at least insert pinch harmonics out of sheer boredom
we are honoured just to see him play these licks GLEN TIPON Best metal guitarist

glenn tipton and harmonics = magic
Brilliant - all three songs have that Tipton trademark sound - which he (obviously) invented - and it's a sound (and style) that's taken so much for granted nowadays - but Tipton was first.
Thanks, Glenn, saw JP in October, Montreal, Que, thanks for coming out! Great show.
Tipton is one of the greatest guitar of the world !!!!!!
thank you teacher ⚘💖💜💔💙⚘😎
glenn uno de los mejores de todos los tiempos.
The forces of rock brought Glenn and KK together and then the greatest metal band of all time was created. I've seen a lot of bands, but the Priest was mind blowing! I am most certain that after these guys played the arena was in need of structural inspections.
I saw Judas Priest live 4 times. Brilliant.
Love that descending, chromatic, single-note riff in "Victim Of Changes". It sounds so dark and heavy -- like any good signature JP riff should sound!
Glenn is amazing and plays so good and those riffs are like no other
One of my favorite guitarists!!!!
Sad that many fantastic musicians are struggling with health problems. Glenn Tipton... one of my favorite guitarists. 💙
So sad that I'll probably never get to see you play live! Favorite guitarist and the best in my opinion. Wish Glenn the best of health!
amazing!! glenn tipton is the best play guitar in the history of heavy metal and the rock
Great guitarist, first saw Judas priest in late 80's at Hollywood sportatorium FL, great show, 5tg row from stage, halford came out of some doors from under the stage flying out onto the stage on a Harley, was a great concert, great live band, wishing you all the best Glen Tipton.

And who would be the first?
I'm also curious, who's your number 1?
Los mejores riffs y solos de heavy metal se los debemos a Glen Tipton. Viva Judas Priest!
Victim of changes is so epic... and so is hell bent for leather
You all have always been my favorite even when I was a kid! You are absolutely AMAZING! THANK YOU!
JP played in Austin in the 80s I hung around in the parking lot and got to meet Glen Tipton on the way to his limo he's very nice cordial gentleman.
Fantastic stuff! Glenn Tipton and KK Downing are some of the greatest guitar gods in heavy metal history!
"Slowly breaking the law." LOL
You are a Guitar God Glenn. Get better, the fans and metal needs you!
Glenn is awesome
Your the Best ! You and Late Eddie! All my guitar original songs are Judas priest style riffs! Your the best!
This guy is a true guitar hero. He has a lot of idiosyncrasies in his playing, that make him interesting to listen to (his sweeping technique is so unique sounding for example).
Ohh Glen Tipton is the one GIVING the lesson now I get it....
Man Him and Glen Will Always be 2 of the baddest/Coolest metal guitarists In the history of Metal. A true Legend Of Metal!
Always loved his playing. Super complicated with some runs...but alot of feeling with others and also in the same run.
Glenn is and always will be one of the best Metal guitarist ever lived \m/
Amazing talent.
It is such a good thing Priest got Tipton in 1974.....KK is great too but didn't have the "blues/southern rock" sound that Glenn had that gave Judas Priest that signature sound. ......while KK has the Hendrix-like maniacal solos, Glenn has the bluesy and catchy riffs.
his home studio!
...
of course he deserves it!
Tipton you Legend! HBFL is a beast
My guitar hero!!!
When Tipton plays, it's almost as if he doesn't move his fretting hand.
+walker8476 You may have noticed Glenn holds the neck in a steep angle, that makes it much easier to play this stuff.
+walker8476 he has large hands, so he requires less movement.
+kurzackd that's right, it helps a lot to have large hands (fingers).
Nothing to do with big hands, it's technique
That's called efficiency of motion
He started play guitar at 17, and at 21 he began ROCK !!!
Glenn!!!
his picking technique is amazing and unique, never seen any other guitarist playing that way
Glen is still my favorite guitarist.. he is the man
Glen tipton your the man
saw him early 70s west hollywood The Starwood...incredible musician
Great lesson from a metal legend!
He's so underrated as a pioneer of early metal riff rock
Underrated who ???? Not at all my friend !

Hellbent for leather riff is better than i thought. You can hear the details better when he plays it slow.
Johnny Kontant sounds like stranglehold a little bit
True. I didn't quite know what it was at first.
Amo esse homem 😍😍😘
