Rocka Rolla is still in the top 3 of fave Priest albums! The difference between this and Sad Wings demonstrates how much things changed during the transition from the early to late 70s, just during the two years between those albums. I can not believe this is Judas Priest. I watched old footage on BBC4 and had to come and see if I was dreaming as I thought it was Jethro Tull with those flowery tops. I saw them on the Painkiller tour with Rob Halford head to toe in black leather complete with peaked leather cap and riding crop and the metal community were shocked when he said he was gay. What a voice though, simply amazing. Good job all the glasses were plastic that night.
@John Jay Why the hell would you think of "Red White and Blue" while it is clearly one their least good? And how does that prove anything about them being metal or nor? Just take the albums British Steel, Screaming for Vengeance or Defenders of the Faith. Claiming that they are not heavy metal would be ridiculous.
Rob had some nice hair back then. Probably broke his heart to lose it. SOOO glad he is still with us, still killing it on stage. Saw them at Shoreline a few years ago, still hits those impossible notes.

The difference between this and Sad Wings demonstrates how much things changed during the transition from the early to late 70s, just during the two years between those albums. But back to RR, it has this rawness and weird sparse atmosphere that draws me in, which they never repeated again thoughout the rest of their legendary career.
You can hear the sound to come though. You can hear the heaviness wanting to come out.
Wow, this just blew my mind. I hadn't heard of the band until the mid-80's, and never thought about it. Then I saw this. What a trip seeing the guys in the "70's" look, and Halford with long hair!
Man, that's good. Thank you Universe for preserving this performance on tape!
I had the picture disk when I was younger. They were a major stone on my young rocker path ♥
Wish KK was still with them. He and Richie would set the stage on fire. I really hope one day JP and KK set aside their differences. That would be a hell of a show.
Espeluznante!
Great song by one of the best bands ever. Jeez, many bands owe a lot to Priest.
Ok, This is crazy good as it gets. KK on an SG, Glenn on a Strat and Rob with hair.
Btw, sounds good.
Hermosa banda desde sus inicios!!!!
Comprei esse album a mais de15 anos e sempre presente em minha vida
This is such an amazing performance and song. I jam to this every time I feel good. And that's a lot man! Good vibes to you all! Rock N forever dudes!🤘
To think that Judas Priest was jamming out for close to 50 years and I say keep on keeping on !!!
No hay banda más perfecta que esta!
Black Sabbath????
@@punkyu_fyb.7Sabbath si no tuviera el Never Say Die sería perfecta al 110%
Manowar 💪
Excellent performance! Sound is little dfferent and Rob's look changed a little over the years but I like it!
That riff is an insatiable sensation.
I just finished reading Rob's autobiography, he's wearing his sister's blouse in this appearance, lol. I don't mean that as a slight in any way, I just got a kick out of that.
How good was the autobiography? I was gonna start it when I finish Bruce Dickinson’s
@@ceratedraptor6299 it was very good, especially from the standpoint of band history. But it also goes into great detail about his personal life. And I mean, great detail. What some might even consider TMI. Personally, I thoroughly enjoyed the book.
@@gregvergara7596 Good to hear. I’m looking forward to hearing about his experiences with the guys in Priest
Just finished reading the book, too! Two words: glory hole.
He plays on both teams...lol
Classic Priest at it's finest, with the best line up they ever had as a band.
All Hail the PRIEST
nah, the drummer was terrible
Oh
You bet he wuz... Terribly Good.
Fifty heavy metal years of Rocka Rolla
I actually love this song and adore this performance!
It's different guys. Replacements
Yeah, who knew Rob was gay? More importantly, who cares? No-one. Metal God \m/
Exactly Gary! I WAS stunned, but, not for a second, did it change my opinion of the band or the music!
how could people not know?!?!?!?
When I was in high school in the early 80s we figured Halford was gay... but who cares they're awesome!
Love how Holford stares at the camera when he sings it Awsome
Damn they were great in this era ! The dreamer deceiver, deceiver performance from the same jam is something of LEGEND!!!!
The begining of a LEGEND!!
They are gold
This song is wonderful
I love early Judast priest.
Glenn Tipton's backing vocals actually sound really good here
Except for that "two face LIAAaaaAaAAAArrr"
@John Jay Why the hell would you think of "Red White and Blue" while it is clearly one their least good? And how does that prove anything about them being metal or nor? Just take the albums British Steel, Screaming for Vengeance or Defenders of the Faith. Claiming that they are not heavy metal would be ridiculous.
@John Jay interested enough to comment
@@TheMorbillos96 That's why Rob gave him the side-eye. 😂
Rob had some nice hair back then. Probably broke his heart to lose it. SOOO glad he is still with us, still killing it on stage. Saw them at Shoreline a few years ago, still hits those impossible notes.
2:30 Cameraman carrying on the age old BBC tradition of not knowing who is playing fucking what, at any given bloody time?!?
HAHAHAHAHAH I WAS THINKING THE SAME THING!!!
Ha yeah, he’s all over the place
He just liked these guitar riffs
😆👍
Haha yeah i thought the same thing, like hey it isn't synchopated or something. But when you close your eyes you can hear Glen's style unmistakably.
One of my favorite Judas Priest songs!
It Amazing how they transgecent with times. Just incredible talented heavy metal Musicians.
70's rock.
Long ago, when oceans covered everything, mountains wasn't formed and Judas Priest were hippies...
And smoke weed hahaha

Before Priest discovered Flying Vs.
Thanks to Priest and Maiden foi saving my life in the early 80's during my parent's divorce. What a wasted life it would have been if not for the RECORDS PLAYING!!!
_That's very cool_
My exact same story! "Did we just become best friends??" (Yep!) "Do you wanna go do karate in the garage??" (Yep!)
When I was stone blue rock and roll sure helped me through.
@@wyzapple Cool. Hey you wanna air guitar and rock out? ( Yep!)
Judas Priest saved me from some dark times too and definitely helped form my identity.
This is great. I think if a person truly enjoys Judas Priest. They can appreciate this.
You can truly hear what they would become.
And appreciate who they were.
wow... Hair, so much, so cool
Welcome to the 70s man
1974 is to 2019 what 1974 was to 1929. Holy shit.

Damn. Not what I really needed to be reading during the Pandemic. I was 13 years old when this was filmed. Now in 2020 I'm 59.

It's the same number of years in between, 45 ...that's kinda fascinating, isn't it?!
I love the way you work ~
1974 is to 2019 what 1929 was to 1974. Fixed it for you.
Incredible from day One
This is the first Heavy metal rock style of the 70's... IS AMAZINE 👍
This is mid-seventies, you are completely ignoring UFO, Fresh Blueberry Pancake, Toad, Gun, Blue Oyster Cült, Sir Lord Baltimore, Bloodrock, Black Widow, Salem Mass., Birth Control, Rush, Jethro Tull, Ultimate Spinach, Uriah Heep, etc., etc.

I REALLY LOVE THIS SONG!!!
It should be your theme song, should play every time you walk into the bar
Outstanding debut album!
Yeah! Outta sight!
This is History and Evolution of Metal
Casi siempre resulta fascinante ver el comienzo de ciertas bandas míticas, y por supuesto Judas no podía ser la excepción.
Judas is Judas ,GRACIAS from Chile ,eternall
“I am extremely saddened to hear that John has passed away as he played his part so well in the creation and the history of Judas Priest.”
“There are so many memories of crazy and fun times we all shared together. John was always so dependable and did everything to the best of his ability, including his drumming which looking back can only be described as faultless. The fact that he continued to play to his very last day is testimony to his ability and dedication to his love of the drums.”
“I wish to give my sincere condolences to John’s family and loved ones from myself and all of you forever. Rest in peace, John.”

One of the Godfathers of heavy metal
Amazing song Still holds up after all these years! Rob Love you in Satin and. Velvet ❤
Their riffs on this album still sounded so bluesy like Zeppelin stuff. Sad wings would be the first album when they really discovered their distinct sound.
I can't believe how different they sounded early on. Different but just as good.
early stuff is amazing..more spiritual than their metal years..
Incredible musicians
They basically sounded this way from 1970 - 1978. They stayed 'heavy' through 1984 !
@@rocknfan100 👍
Kinda remind me of metal Lynyrd Skynyrd for some reason
one of the best songs/albums of all time!!!!
Rocka Rolla
Man eatin momma, steam driven hammer
Sorts the men out from the boys
Takes no messin', all in wrestlin'
Is one of her pride and joys
She a classy, flashy lassy
Imitation sapphire shine
Two faced liar, full of fire
But I know the flame is mine
Rocka rolla woman for a rocka rolla man
You can take her if you want her,
If you think you can
Rocka rolla woman for a rocka rolla man
You can take her if you want her you can
She's a grip and choke ya. Heavy smoker
Wrong side of the law.
Midnight shady, good time lady
Heavy, ready show you what for
Barroom fighter, ten pint a nighter
Definite ninety-nine
Diamond cluster, knuckle duster
Feline on the borderline
Fresh out of High School or whatever they have in Birmingham, England...
They seem like some nice, young lads.
I wonder if they'll have a future.
The beginnings of a great band... I love it!
I love Rob's sassy voice.
