I hope KK and Glenn can patch things up. These two may not realize it now, but they are part of music history that will live on long after they are gone
It breaks my heart knowing how these two have split and ended such and amazing career on a soar note. The sound of Judas Priest will forever ring (literally) in my ears until the day I die!
New Priest with Faulkner is amazing
@@crypticreality8484. Abso-effing - lutely! Love Richie!!🤘🏻🫶🏻❤️
Cool and interesting interview! KK and Glenn are the best guitar duo ever.
Patricia Comeford I concur.i play guitar and these guys are phenomenal players! Cheers Patricia!
I wish KK was still with them :'(
I think Richie is doing great with priest but yeah KK will always be missed
KK Downing is a Icon Legend and definitely missed!
I wish Glenn was still with them!!
Glenn is still with Priest, but he is just not touring as full.
Motley Crue well now he isn't
The most important and influential metal guitar duo of all time.......PERIOD
The raw power of this great heavy metal guitar duo was the "freight train wall of sound" that made Judas Priest...Judas Priest. Thank you Glenn and K.K. for your awesome sound.
Best classic metal band. British Steel was groundbreaking. Thank you, Judas Priest! I've enjoyed your work, since I was 17.
The best guitar duo of all times.
What a team these two were!
What I notice about Judas Priest is their attention to detail, and ensuring every performance is as perfect as possible - they pay close attention to their parts in the same way that classical musicians would.
They both really need to watch this video in 2022 and mend their fences and carry on TOGETHER !!!
Glad I had the great experience of seeing these two on stage.
The incomparable duo. Thanks for the video.
It's interesting that Glenn and Ken don't interact at all during the interview. Quite telling.
It’s because they could not stand each other
Or maybe they just know each other so well, they don't need to interact
Glen is the alpha
Battle of the Egos.
@@scarab9762 KK is above that
So sad these two cannot longer see each other eye to eye.
Glenn and KK prove beyond the shadow of a doubt; you don't need tattoos to play metal guitar!
AMEN!!!
you're more a rebel without
Tatts are for posers and losers
They are secure, old school men.
@@ontplates Especially now
KK...invite GLEN over for a cold pint. Post a current pic of you two. It's getting late.
Right?
Unfortunately, KK and Glen don’t like eachother very much…
@@frfoljek68 what do you mean?
@@jantikochannel4572 they already had arguments in the band, and KK posting that he doesn’t belive that Glenn was on Firepower didn’t help
KK mentions in this interview that there was a period when bands did not accept being called metal. I believe this was very early 80's. For example you will never hear "heavy metal" coming out of any Randy Rhoads interviews. It just did not exist yet in any noteworthy usage.
Quite a few bands that were pioneers of metal deny ever intentionally being as such or don’t like being labeled. But JP intentionally aimed for heavy metal to be what it became and I think that’s really incredible and great.
Mandatory sunglasses for JP interview
Thats their contract uniform XD
Metal gentlemen. 🎩
Two metal guitar legends. One thick glass wall partition between them.
One of my fav duo.
Judas Priest is one of the most important metal band in the world. Without them pushing it the way they did especially in their former years really made others in the genre step up their game. Glenn Tipton and KK Downing are so influential and most people won't really realise unless they gave it a real thought. Think about it, they've been killing it since Sad Wings of Destiny.
BEST BAND EVER!lONG LIVE THE PRIEST.
iron maiden!
Why Iron Maiden fans ALWAYS must say, that Iron is better? It's about Priest, not Iron. Christ man...
two great bands, love em both, even old def leppard(first 2-3 albums)old whitesnake, dio, ozzy the list is very long.
@@aceshigh9459 none are better. Each has its own verdicts.
Glenn tipton was diagnosed of Parkinson's and that was the saddest news i've ever heard because JP was one of my favorite bands in my teen years until today. Get well soon sir Glenn.
You don't get well from Parkinson's lol
@@BillBlazejowski sorry, I didn't know its incurable. Don't laugh, smart ass.
Amo a estos dos chicos
It’s always nice when those guys give credit to Wishbone Ash 🤘
My grandmother came from Birmingham so much great heavy metal has come from there I live in Bristol and love heavy metal especially priest there awsome I'm 35 wasn't around for the first wave but have been a fan for at least 20 yrs always will be much love to priest for all the joy they have given me through there music 🙏💯⚡🤟🤘
The 2 masters of metal guitar duo!!!!!
it was really cool John peel was mentioned.
Twas. Granted, got a bit sad realizing that a lot of people now are too young to have heard him while he was alive. Legend!
Best Priest's guitar players ever!
These two in my book are the greatest at the highest level
Sam Dunn is a great at interviews and love his documentaries. A friend of mine apparently got to meet him says he's a real nice guy. Keep up the great work Sam. 👍
Two of my ultimate guitar heroes. Glenn & KK made me want to pick up a guitar 🎸🤘
These guys are top 5 greatest rock guitarists all time!
I've always enjoyed Priest's music but it wasn't until I picked the guitar up again ( 5-6 yrs ago) that I got an overdue respect for it's two phenomenal guitarist.
Wow KK Downing Man No One Can Rock A Flying V Like Him
Thanks for doing this..
Glen you spent 40 years working playing and living with this guy. Marriages don't even last that long. Just bury the hatchet. Be a man, do the fans a favor and invite KK back to JP. If it wasn't for KK there wouldn't be JP. Life's too short to hold a grutch.
no point at this point in time, GT will never regain his playing on stage or maybe even struggle in the studio, Ken could still play but age slow him down obviously even in KK's Priest.. they can maybe co-write some stuff and let others play it.. your iPod etc last forever but guitarists aged in time just like athletes.. thats that for JP imo.. I think they will carry on with the singer / drummer / bassist, and a revolving door of guitarists support members till those 3 start to 'go'..
Absolutely Amazing 👍🇬🇧🇬🇧
If these 2 guys shook hands now, there would be a total boiling metal meltdown right there
Priest is the greatest and most influential metal band of all time.
For this interviewer to not start with Priest instead of having to backfill is an absolute joke.
I own Metal Works VHS Cassette
Around the time this interview was taped, I was at breakfast with my then wife in Los Angeles and contemplated that arguably the greatest metal and hard rock I had ever heard came from Great Britain and it's still true. I never realized. Yeah the LA bands were OK (Dokken, Ratt, etc.) but Priest took my father's breath away. Even Ozzy, you know? So influential. Funny thing about Ozzy was he hired American guitarists (Rhodes from Santa Monica, Lee, Wylde) but of all their projects, Ozzy's works was their biggest, best stuff.
Listening to these guys talk about the scene they grew up with makes me really appreciate just what kind of era for music there was in England back then. These days, I have to rely on Sweden or here in Japan to here new rock and new metal that has that melody-first quality.
Some of the best metal guitarists on earth.
That was it? such a short interview!
Glenn & Ken are not exactly 'friends'.
I would have been crying if i was making the interview.
It's odd seeing this and now they aren't together
K.k. is a trip. Man of the Midlands going home to his golf course after a hard day at the steel mill. Haha.
remember,it was a long road and they worked their collective asses off, toured for 4 decades.....try touring for a year, then times it by 40.
i worked on the road for a couple years,it really isnt all roses and blowjobs
he payed his dues and enjoy his retirement in his 60s and now 70s.. earned that millions golf course etc
Glenn is my life
How so?
The most underated guitAR duos ever
I'm not sure they're underrated though. They basically popularized dual lead guitar attack.
@@MoonOvIceand Tesla...?
These two legacy's we're limited within actual capabilities, until 1990/Travis double bass triplets introduction. Foundation that created a formula desired within these two metal gods. Travis very extraordinary, racer-x his young years he was light years ahead within nearly all drummers.
Tipton and Downing established the prototype for the metal god guitarist. Their were greats before and after, but they influenced an era and defined heavy metal rock.
Those dudes are legendary in the world of metal. Truly the roots of metal for me personally. I know Sabbath gets a lot of credit for being The Godfather’s of metal. But I really think Judas Priest were the first pure metal band. After British Steel dropped, that was the archetype for metal music for decades. And still is to some degree. Priest and Maiden blazed the trail. Metallica and Pantera upped the ante. Now there is so much metal, it in itself is being categorized and sub-categorized into different branches. I’m not big on compartmentalizing Metal. I love it all. I never look down at what the kids are doing in contemporary metal. I’m just glad there are people keeping heavy music thriving. Purists whine about “nu-Metal” or “Djent”. I love it all. From Priest to Infant Annihilator. Go heavy or go home. 👊🏻🤘🏻
Paranoid and Master Of Reality are THE true archetypes for metal. Priest are great but Sabbath truly invented metal
@@rickleblanc8900 I can’t really disagree. But I still think Sabbath gave us “Heavy” and Priest gave us “Metal” . I know I’ll get some hate. But it’s just my personal perspective.
@@rickleblanc8900 Sabbath invented heavy metal, Priest refined it.
@@stantonvalberg9814 good comment. When Dio came into the band, I believe Sabbath redefined themselves and gave their sound a modern spin at the time. Die Young, Mob Rules etc.... And probably influencing a new generation of up and coming metal bands in the process
Awesome Guitar Duo love Judas Priest
Shame the way it's gone since this with the 50th n all... ... ...
These dude's are so cool.🤘
Great dudes! :)
TWO Great...
Awesome guys
real gods.
WOW that's much more than I thought I'd learn and theyve got more cooth than the parliament they represent absolutely the best
Ken & Glenn.
After this duo comes whichever duo in metal, first Priest!
It is important that the interviewer makes out of the box questions to make the interview interesting. Asking when a rocker got in contact with rock is not one of those.
Love that band that’s all I can say
It's very very hard to believe that it's just coming out that these two absolutely amazing players who toured wrote recorded and basically lived together for nearly 40 years couldn't stand each other well kk didn't like Glenn weird when you think in maiden they are all buddies
@NO BODY I think it was in kens book
Maiden all buddies? No way not even close
The best guitar duo lml
The alfa of duel leads,
Tipton would’ve been a successful ventriloquist if his rockstar dream wouldn’t had worked out.
Downing hardly looks at Tipton while he's talking. Tipton does the same thing, just stares into space.
Sad to see. The air is so dense with friction....
how come nobody ever mentions Thin Lizzy on those interviews?
Especially this one, the 'twin guitar approach in metal,' but nobody talks of Thin Lizzy, as if they never existed.
Takfarinas Abdiouene Thin Lizzy isn't metal
Fair enough, but have you seen the amount of non-metal bands in that Metal Evolution series? did you watch it? they're even in that 'evolution tree,' but here when it comes to the twin guitars approach, I think everybody copied them, yet even Sam Dunn doesn't talk about them.
We did interview Scott Gorham for Metal Evolution. We know he exists!
but why is it not in any of the episodes? Why is Judas Priest (who I love dearly) credited for a style that predates them?
In any case; I am more mad at the musicians refusing to acknowledge the debt than at Banger films. Please, show us the interview at some point.
No band pre-dates Judas Priest when it comes to twin guitars in metal.
I just think of the first 20 seconds opening of the Sentinel, in Fuel For Life. These two are just the absolute shit.
Judas Priest beste Heavy Metal Band aller Zeiten👍👍👍👍👍. Unerreichbar👍👍👍👍👍
That was great, way to short though. lol! Metal Gods
Hard to grasp that they were in the same band at this moment.
There isn't a fragment of love in the room. As a long time fan, I actually find this hard to watch.
...fragment of love...Song title...And agree, there is a thick glass wall between them. Whatever was it in the wedge of division??
I love em all but scotty glenn and ian were the sweetest when i met em
interesting.... as KK s book reveals that they were never really great friends!!! and tensions were often high..... hahah sunglasses on !!!
Or maybe someone is just lying or creating things ..
Judas Priest without KK and Glenn is rugby without Nigel Owen
Nice interview. Not uncut though
Legends! Ya know?
As I understood it, there was an intense power struggle in the band.
KK lost and of course he's bitter.
Tipton won, siding with the manager and doing most solos etc, but he burned the relation with KK.
K.K. back to the Prriest%!!!!
They suck now.
I'm sure he said Wishbone Hash 5:15
The reals Priest !!! \m/
ป๋า Glen Tiptons
Where is the Overkill reviews of Havok - Conformicide ?
Awesome. Hails to the gods of British steal. Long Live Judas Priest.
Chuloloc *steel home slice
Richie is great but I miss KK. He should consider returning to the band.
No. The band should stop altogether. Time to retire.
CarlHH777 I don't see a reason why they should retire. yes, they're old, but they're still rocking!
We're gonna have to agree to disagree on this. I think they should've stopped about 10 years ago.
I've seen them 2 weeks ago... They kicked so much ass it was unbelievable! Never too old to rock man... Never. Judas proved it! Glenn wasn't there either, as Andy - their producer tours with them now because of Glenn's illness, but they did great anyway. When Richie played Glenn's solos, they played old clips of Glenn in the background and as I was standing right in front of Richie - the view was spectacular.
*He DID consider it. He flat out called them to ask what the chances were of him rejoining because he wants to. They said the chances are zero.*
never understood that 'wear sunglasses inside' fashion....
Very few can get away with it. Being in one of the greatest metal bands in history definitely helps.
He lost the skin on that area, he doesn't want people to know he's a terminator.
It's kinda a generation thing.
If you have an "Electric Eye" you can use them even in the dark!!! :-p
Yan Jod they've earned that right, they are stars
I love richies enthusiasm too
Glenn to K.K. in 1974 "Were not playing blues/boogie rock Kenneth!"
K.K. to Glenn "Yep..ok...lets do something different"
Me: "At what point did you realize that you invented modern heavy metal?" Glenn: ruclips.net/video/FoA8OxjxSrw/видео.html
I hope these two can bury the hatchet. Life is too short.
Shame what has happened now between them. Glenn just said it was magical with KK. Makes me sad.
Kenneth Downing reminds me of Penny Lane when he was young, he looks more like feminine
Bob Donald I mean the movie not in real life
He looks pretty darn sexy to me to be 'feminine' 😃😍
Bit boring interview, KK has much better interviews on his own.
Dual guitar combo.....turns into the dual cross legged combo.
Yikes, the rockers of my youth are getting so old..!
Sam looks exactly the same, perhaps he's one of those guys who never age. It's got to have something to do with metal. Or maybe he made a deal with the devil.
