@@kwmikedI make the clutch holder tool that Rich is using at about the 15min mark.

Amazing to hear that my 2005 RMK runs the same clutch as my 2001 RMK as my buddy's 93 Indy and farther back. To think that they found the formula for that clutch and didn't touch it over all these years.

I installed the carbon sled "sheeve retainer" piece alone on my new 2025 9R and the updated 2025 collar and bolt are sufficient and not REQUIRED. I spoke with the owner of Carbon Sled regarding the use of green sleeve retainer compound and he suggested Red loctite as an alternative as "something is better than nothing". Anyone that has used sleeve retaining compound know what a pain it is to break loose once it sets and one of the only ways you will break it is with heat...alot of it. I chose to use nothing but a good amount of blue loctite on the whole sheeve retainer and torqued to its 80 lb /ft specs with the factory bolt at 110 lb/ft. At least when the time come to remove the clutch, I won't be using a torch or stick of dynamite to get it off!!

It’s good you still used blue loctite, titanium does not bond very well with the loctite compound compared to steel, aluminum, etc.

400 miles later and NOTHING moved. Been checking bolt torque and sheeve retainer and so far so good.

Pretty sure the titanium bolt has lower torque value than the OEM. I want to say around 70-80ftlbs... I just installed the same kit on my sled. Hopefully it's the final fix

Also, will order that clutch holder I had been using a wooden handle off a mallet lol

Great idea! That's a lot of Loctite, though.

That’s what Carbon Sled recommends. I normally wouldn’t use that much. But they gave a lot more experience than me in torquing Ti bolts into steel.

Good informative vid man! I had no idea that P-85 meant 1985, def got some years on me lol
I had the recent recall done before I picked up my boost and see carbon is back ordered again, in the mean time do you think retorquing every ride would be ok?
Alternatively, I have a p85 on my axys 800 which is now my spare/gfs sled. Would it be a better idea for me to swap to the 85 instead of just retorquing my p22?
I imagine I’d need a new bolt and to set my deflection if I were to use a 85 on my boost
Thanks for taking the time to post this walkthrough!

Thanks good stuff...Had no idea the P22 was such a issue until our ride couple days ago when some friends were talking about it...and seeing this video super helpful...I do still have a P85 on my 2022 850 matryx slash...any rate thanks...

The crankshaft is different on the 800 Axys for the pre2020 motors. Unless you have a 20’ or newer 800 the p-85 won’t go on a 9R/850.

Do you think most of the broken clutch bolts are coming from guys not retorquing bolt? Mine has loosened almost every time I've check it.

Honestly, don’t really know. My guess is most were on 22’ and 23’ sleds.

No, I see guys tq them at bottom of mnt and they break at the top by end of day. Its a shitty set up that 1 bolt is trying to hold that together. It works on the RZR for some reason, but not on sleds.

Would be great if it was steel, not the right application for titanium

How do you know it’s yours?!?! Is your name on it? Just kidding! If it is yours, I’m guessing you’re referring to the broken clutch bolt pic? Sorry that happened to you. Hopefully that becomes less common.

There’s no way Polaris engineers are this stupid, are they?

It really seems like too easy of a fix that it took 3 seasons to figure out. It makes so much sense that, like you said, why haven’t the Polaris engineers figured this out instead band side fixes like throwing new clutch’s on it
