For the Arctic Cat faithful the Catalyst has been a long awaited machine. Cat claimed it would be a pretty significant weight reduction from the previous model snowmobiles. Now that the Catalyst is here, what does it weigh and how does that compare to the ascender its is replacing and to the mighty Polaris light weight sled, the 9R.

The Matryx and Axys 650, 850 and 900 are great sleds, but the factory clutch alignment specs are too broad for optimal clutching efficiency. If you want perfect clutch alignment on one of these sleds you need the help of TRS Performance and their adjustable motor mounts and alignment bar.
Polaris Axys/Matryx throttle block
Просмотров 7 тыс.Год назад
The Polaris Axys and Matryx are notorious for having problems with the throttle safety switch. Usually caused by ice build up in cold weather, deep snow riding. SLP has done a great job on an affordable kit to bump up the Axys or Matryx 850 performance.
Mountain snowmobile brake component protection
Просмотров 1,1 тыс.Год назад
With all the snowmobile manufacturers going to lighter weight plastic brake parts, they are naturally not as strong as the metal ones they replaced and can easily be damaged on a mountain sled. We look at brake handle and master cylinder protection on your skidoo, Polaris, Cat and Yamaha mountain sled. The last thing you want is to ride your sled in the back country without brakes.
Polaris Matryx DIY tunnel cut

Polaris introduced the all new Matryx mountain sled for 2022. Tunnel redesign with the tapered extension was a welcome new design to help deep snow performance. How much the tunnel drags behind you in the snow can be a detriment to the skilled mountain rider and cutting length off the tunnel has become a common modification. Now that the tunnel coolers don't run all the way back on the Matryx, ...

    Great video. The only thing I would add is the 6 tower came out in '04, not '05. It also had two flavors; the early "SAE" version was bulletproof; I have over 10k on one, and it's all original (trail sled). They switched to a metric version around '07, and it's just not as good. I'm pretty sure they started manufacturing them overseas as well, which is probably the real reason for the quality, not the fact that it went metric.

      Bolts will most likely continue to break until the clutch is redesigned or round filed. The entire clutch is held together by the bolt. No other snowmobile clutch has this poor design. Like the P-85, needs to be held together by a screw on and torqued spider and jam nut.

      If you’re asking if an aftermarket throttle block would fix it. Without out actually seeing your sled and problem, can’t say 100% for sure, but it most likely would fix it. There’s so much snow and ice build up in the factory Polaris block, csn mess with your idle and TSS.

    • @mountainsleddergarage8627
      @mountainsleddergarage8627 5 месяцев назад

      That is the question of the century. Cat has had that ring on there for many years. People have been taking them off for many years without any issues. If I’m building a lightweight sled I’ll take it off, otherwise I don’t go to the trouble of removing it. The clutch in the video was brand new out of the box and don’t come with the ring.

    • @johnbarnard6983
      @johnbarnard6983 5 месяцев назад

      Thank you! I know it serves a purpose if you have an electric start on your machine as the ring is required, but I didn't see the reason behind the damper ring unless it was for some clutch weight thing. I didn't want to not install it on my new adaptive clutch if I was going to mess something up by omitting it. Glad to hear you didn't install it and have not had any issues. Thanks again!
