  • Everyone is looking for the ultimate performance from thier mountain snowmobile. One option we've been adding for years is aftermarket skis. The manufacturers these days provide us with much better stock skis than years passed, but there are better performing options. I look over the best options out there for mountain skis and go over the difference and benefits of each.

    I run 8 inch Powder Hounds , 10 inch carbides , on the groomed trail , awesome Ski , Red White & Blue Camo , Red Hoops , they corner , and don’t track in the ruts , on the groomed trail , they impress , not just for powder riding

    Torn between putting Attack skis on my Khaos. I don’t want to lose any playfulness of the khaos but feel like the attacks might be more predictable, not to mention they just look awesome and are very well made. What would you suggest? Thanks

    Any suggestions on carbide for the attack?

      Depends on how much time you spend on the trails. Carbides are mostly for ski grip on icy trails. Man sleds they're to keep the bottom on the ski from wear. I spend very little time on trails and the 4" is good for me, pretty much never wears out.

      @@mountainsleddergarage8627 no trail except to get in. Thanks for advice. Never ran a aftermarket ski, looking at getting those attacks and need to pick out all the components.

    Great video, breaks it down and gets to the point on what works

    I really like the Attack ski. They are a tad bit more aggressive than the stock ski, meaning they grip the snow a little better. I don’t think you’ll loose any khaos playfulness. I love the color combo options most of all. Yea

      18:02 I noticed on Slydog’s website they say the Attack ski weighs 5.7 lbs. you have it at over 8 lbs. That’s a significant difference. What gives?

      At the 6 minute mark I weigh all three skis, so the weights are legit. Each ski is weighed will all the hardware, rubber and spindle bolt. I doubt the ski manufacturers are weighing a complete ski set up.

      Yep. They are weighing the plastics only with loops. Thanks

    i have been waiting for a video like this. what carbides would you recommend running with the attack ski's ?

    • @mountainsleddergarage8627

      IMO carbides are mostly for trails. The more time you spend on the trail, the longer than carbide. Just want that ski control on Icey, packed surfaces. I spend very little time on the trail, so I usually do the short carbides.

    Best ski on the alpha?

      Personally I really like the Slydog Attack ski. The stock ski is actually pretty dang good. The Polaris gripper is also a very good ski I’ve used on the alpha.

    Are you changing out to the attack on your Polaris matryx since they come with gripper already?

  • @nombr

    Another good video man! Have you figured out a way to keep the rubber tight in the gripper? I have ran ‘trimmed down’ summit rubbers in my old pro and now axys. But find I still have too much vertical play with my ski

    • @mountainsleddergarage8627
      @mountainsleddergarage8627  2 года назад +1

      If you go into my skidoo video section, there is a video called summit G4 ski rubber fix. Skidoo improved their ski rubber problem with the “expert” spindles and rubber. I show how that worked and done says to improve it that can be done on others sleds. Thanks

      @@mountainsleddergarage8627 hey man, I might have missed it in your vid here but if a guy gets an attak ski and runs stock polaris rubbers will they fare a lot better then with grippers? (Sled is a khaos)

    C&A BX Ski?

    • @mountainsleddergarage8627
      @mountainsleddergarage8627  2 года назад +3

      I’ve used the BX ski a lot when it first came out a few years ago and don’t really like it for mountain riding. IMO the skis mentioned are much better backcountry skis.
