How do I setup my AV Receiver with the Fire Tv Cube

  • @DvlFIG
    @DvlFIG 6 лет назад +1

I've had FireTVs since the firs one came out. They've always worked well and I've enjoyed having them. Currently, I have the 2nd version and don't plan to upgrade since ver 3 and the cube are not appealing to me at all. I decided to dump FireTV all together and just ordered the king... Nvidia Shield TV!

i think it is the better choice if you want a little home theater and stream in 4k, so you can connect others echo dots with it. Unfortunatelly this device is not able in amazon Mexico, i need to go out and look for one

Watched whole video hoping You would show actually adding a device. But sadly no. Alexa seems ok with changing the input on AVR, But not the TV. I thought I completed setup without any errors. Hopefully, I will be able to find a video showing how too. You did cover a lot of info. All in all, learned so a lot.

I've ordered the cube but I have a feeling that input switching isn't going to work for me. I'm assuming it's using IR to switch inputs rather than CEC? I have a Hisense TV which uses dynamic inputting, so the order of the inputs changes based upon what you watched last. It's also a limitation with the Harmony Hub. I've got around it by using a HDMI switcher, but I don't believe the Fire TV Cube supports this.

Thank you for the detailed review. I’ve been wanting this device since it was released, but early firmware on the cube led to choppy streaming and inconsistent responses from Alexa. I was on the fence about buying this device until today. Amazon is offering a killer deal on this device this week. It’s half price ($59.99) and they’re even offering an interest free monthly installment option. I don’t know whether they’ve smoothed the experience out since this video was uploaded, but at the current price there’s no good reason to pass on it.

I bought a new cube..Nov. 2018 and love it. I am however wondering if the silk browser will let me use" you tube" in the same way I would if it was on my computer. I have wave cable and it works with it. Found that the cube works best when you ask using certain words. I can only get it to go to my cable if I am at the Amazon home page and then say.Alexa...switch to cable. Hope this helps someone. I can not say something like go to cable or it doesn't respond.

If I had my music library on a 64 Gb flash drive hooked up to the OTG micro USD port, will Alexa find songs on the flash drive and play them? I don't want anymore premium music services. Thanks

Compared to the Harmony Remote it might be a bit limited. It is really good and changing inputs, volume, turning on off devices and sometimes changing the channel but that is it. If you have a more complicated setup a Harmony Hub would definitely be the way to go.

Why does everything have to be so fragmented these days? Meaning, why doesn't RUclips play in 4K on the Apple TV?? And why isn't there a RUclips app period on the Fire TV? I don't want to open a browser, I want a 4K capable app. And why can't Prime Music work on Google Home, or Google Music on the Echo??? And where is Apple in this space? Too many eco-systems at the moment. I do like Amazon, but I use the Apple watch....which won't let me download music from anything other than iTunes(Apple Music) for offline listening. All this stuff is frustrating. I wish Google would come out with a nicer TV set top box.

yes I want the two systems (amazon echo and google home) at the moment as both are regularly updated with new features - shame google and amazon are still at loggerheads, if they worked together i'm sure both products could be vastly improved - Jeff Bezos was hoping for google to allow their google assistant to be available on an amazon echo aswell as Alexa - looks like that won't happen anytime soon now.......
ps I just got the new equalizer option update on my echo products, which makes the sound on the amazon echo show quite a bit clearer

Tech With Brett : That is definitely the best attitude to employ 👍.
So far, (and that's not particularly far 😏) I have, for whatever reason, felt myself to be an Android/Google person. However I also watch, and even subscribe to whatever alternatives I may randomly come across, solely attempting to be as well rounded and informed as I can be.....Doing this also has been the only way I've been able to learn anything at all with regards to tech.
The phone I have now is my first, and only, device ever, and I must admit, (not bragging), I have been really surprised, how much I have learned by myself, and the much appreciated help from you et al ! BRETT 😊!
I should include, I think your Fire TV Cube review was excellent, and you did a thorough and in depth job .
My situation is such that I really can't be verbally communicating with anyone, or anything, as I pretty much am active TV, and Phone wise, throughout the night, while my husband is Asleep !....At least if I want to go on living ! 😟 🤫
I also must say, I prefer the Google Assistant, (I think it understands language better ; just my opinion).
And have to add, I simply Adore You Tube ! (enough said about that, lol).
As a matter of fact, I only just discovered, by myself I must add, that I can re-arrange the songs, and or videos on the numerous playlists I created, by tapping, and dragging each from one place to another.
I surely wish I had known that considerably sooner !
Especially when it comes to my 470+ videos I have accumulated on my original playlist, which spans all the way from, 50's Doo Op, to, Taylor Swift, Katie Perry, etc., because I downloaded them as I came across them in no particular order whatsoever !....Mucho Decades of songs "I" myself selected, and only now discover I CAN arrange them in some semblance of chronological order ! (Sans creating separate playlists)
Ho Hum, better late than never 😏.
Trying to learn about tech, at my age, (which I shan't go into, Ha!) has been quite an ongoing, and for me, a really enjoyable, exercise.
Sorry to go on so long ☹️!
Just one last thing, I shouldn't be saying but feel an overwhelming need to vent, my Husband absolutely hates Tech, and mentions it, invariably, at least once a day !
      I think I'm driving Him a little NUTS ! 😱.....😇 😈
Thanks for the video Brett, and please have a Great Thursday 🙂.
      Sincerely, JaneLee ^_^

RUclips is owned and dictated by Google, a separate company and entity from Amazon. I don't know if one companies refusal to let another company utilize its 'application' as a service on its devices, would be considered a fail on the part of the company who is being denied said services and application. Regardless, there is still 'RUclips', there simply isn't a RUclips 'app'. On Amazon Fire TV's if you click on RUclips it opens RUclips via Firefox or Silk browser.
