Hello this is Karen I’d like to report 3 guys riding $1500 e-bikes packing $1500 worth of fishing gear each at bare minimum are enjoying themselves on the observation/fishing spot on 3 mile bridge. Can you please try and ruin their day please by sending an FWD Officer out to check and see if they have the $12 fishing license

@TheLawlessTide A long time ago, I read a story in Florida Sportsman about some guys fishing the bridge that goes out to Sanibel Island. They were in a boat and catching Goliath grouper. Being the 90s they were still pulling them on the deck for photos and hook removal. Suddenly a voice from the bridge calls down to them. An FWC officer was sent out to investigate them for pulling manatees onto the deck of their boat. Got to love those Yankee tourists. 😂

@@testodude I’ll be honest I kinda wondered if it was bogus. But I’ve seen so many weirdos that freak out about people fishing i wouldn’t put it past someone. I also wouldn’t put it past a RUclipsr to call them for the high number of clicks this sort of content gets.
My son in law was an engineer supervising the construction of that bridge. It’s nice to see it being enjoyed.

Many LEOs use the "we got a call" ruse. Investigation because of a "call" is a better look for them then a "we saw you out here and stopped to investigate".
I used to ride dirt bikes in the wood behind the home where I grew up. Literally EVERY family had children, and we knew EVERY homeowner.
When some new LEOs joined the local PD, suddenly they were ALWAYS driving back there to harass up. Searching bags, checking VINs, asking what we knew about local minor crime activities.
This LE harassment was ALWAYS prefaced with a "we got a call about you guys".
Florida state statute xxviii ,states it’s against the law to bother or harass anyone fishing from public or private.
Whether fishing or hunting too.
Lock that women up for harassment

You hear stories about game wardens while growing up. Once some guys were hauling a prize elk out of a steep raven. One of them starts complaining about the weight, the terrain , and there's only three of them to do the work. The fourth guy pipes up that nobody should be hauling anything as its out of season.

Go across that bridge at least 3 times a week and didn't know that it was actually legal to fish from on top of the bridge. Definitely gonna' have to head out that way.
It's not. They're just not enforcing it yet until the signs are installed. The actual fishing bridge is supposed to be repaired soon, hopefully.

I have never released a fish from a bridge that tall but it seems like the fall that high would not do them any good ? Those are some nice fish looks like a fun time.

Strange for an Englishman to see armed game wardens policing sea angling, which is totally free in the UK. Even when we (rarely) get inspections they are never armed. Mind, our fishing is rubbish compared to the USA.🧐

There were places in Florida, when I lived there, that banned bridge fishing because the fishermen would leave a disgusting mess. Fish guts, rotting bait, monofilament line, and trash would litter the bridge and they would just leave it there.
Yeah thats how it seems to work, the few lazy ones ruin it for everyone else that fishes responsibly.
@@TheLawlessTide I always take a small towel as a drop cloth with me, when I fish from a structure that has pedestrians. It gives me a place to put gear without it getting scratched, it makes it more obvious to joggers etc that "I have some stuff here, please don't run through it" and it gives me a place to cut bait and fish on. This takes away a possible complaint people have. And you have something ready to wipe your hands clean on.
And it also gives me something to wrap around everything that gets fishy, when I put it back into the bag.
Nothing worse than leaving monofilament or any other fishing line where critters can get caught up in it

You should try micro jigging/slow pitch from the bridges. Its really effective. Bridges and piers are actually the perfect place to do it too especially if its over 15-20ft.
Good idea. Just only so much gear you can carry on the bikes.
Every time y’all tossed that net over the rail my anxiety kick in as if you were going to let the rope slip and loose it . I would tie a 5lb eight to the one end

Live in Washington now but growing up on the Texas coast building and selling surf rods since I was kid I remember the black drum run. It was the first big run of the season before the jacks showed up and then the fall bull reds. Nothing like thinking you have a bull red only to find out it's a 180 pound ray on a squidder. I got the thumb scar to prove it. Now 30 years later I see how all the tech has changed. Gone are the Harrington's, Hornel's, Fenwick's. Squidders and Jigmasters have fallen by the wayside and Newells are a thing of the past. We swung tree trunks into the surf and now it's a willow branch. Great channels for those who have moved on but please, don't be those guys who stack up jacks like they are trophys. You've seen those channels, don't support that.

They were concerned for animals that’s all. Then they went to Buffalo Wild Wings, bought a burger and a side of wings, talked about climate change and then hopped in their SUV and headed home to their gated community.
You forgot to mention her yard guy who shows up twice a week with his 500 horsepower lawnmower and smoky leaf blower because she has to have the perfectly manicured lawn.

You should tie a carabiner at the end of your net rope so you can hook it onto one of the cables, so no accidents happen 👍🏻

Here's a little suggestion. Make yourself a checklist and affix to the inside of your box lid to make sure you have everything with you before leaving out on your day trip. Water, towels, ice, first aid kit, beer, beer, more beer, exct.

Isn't that a shame, idiots call, risking for Game Warden's lives to stop on a freeway where vehicles are at high speeds that could kill them just to check fishing license on an legal platform designed for fishing or scenary rest stops. What a plus for shore fisherman!
I'm cheap, so I'd have a carabiner on the end of that net rope to clip it to the railing cable. Same for a tether on my rod.
I'm with you. I nearly had a fish pull my rod into the river, so I use a carabina and a strap attached to my rod holder. Works.
In 30+ years of hunting and fishing, every single encounter I've had with wardens has been a positive experience. Just men and women out there doing their jobs. Great to see it here too.
The guy that has to try and net the fish should get half credit for the catch, lots of work to net those.

Decent Redfish, the biggest one i ever caught was on a live mullet about 5-6 inches long,it got set free also, always been told that if they are over 30pounds they are not good for eating anyway but sure fun to catch

Commenters suggest securing the pole and the net rope to the bridge so they don’t drop into the water. I was thinking the guys fishing might want to secure themselves. A couple of times I was worried one of them would flip over the cable rails the way they were leaning over so far to retrieve a fish.
Find yourself a canvas bucket to pull up some water for washing up.

A nice day out fishing in a perfect spot for it - looks great. The license check is a nothing-burger. If it's a licensed activity it should be checked up on every now and then and the guys have their licenses so all's well. I guess if you were paying for a license to fish you'd feel foolish paying it if no one ever checked you had them, and annoyed if other people were fishing and hadn't paid at all.
