  • You probably already know, or if not, now you will know, getting a haircut from a curly hair professional is A BIG DIFFERENCE than someone who cuts wet because a CHS were trained to CUT HAIR DRY and should have a cutting technique where they have gone and received certification.
The truth is, that just isn't enough anymore to know if you are going to have a successful experience with an acclaimed stylist these days.
A stylist has to be willing to work with your texture and that is what sets them apart.
I have made the first batch of a series of videos that will help guide you to find the best stylist for you.
I hope this video is really helpful, useful and saves you time and aggravation to finding the stylist of your absolute dreams. Just remember, stylists are human too, and because I am a curly hair specialist I want to remind you that what matters is you both have a mutual vision for your hair.

I tried to find you on IG! This video is beyond helpful. I have put off getting a trim for so long because I couldn’t find anyone in my area that I felt comfortable with. The websites you listed make it soo easy!! Thank you so much.

I have received so many inquiries about this video from women who found me on RUclips who now sit in my chair and trust me with their hair. They did their homework and brought their photos in and did exactly my tips. I am so amazed at how the internet shares information. Thank you to those who found great stylists because of my advice.

Many thanks for all helpful ideas, questions to ask myself and a new stylist. Sadly, I have to break up with my current stylist because he is pushing me to do a Brazilian Blowout to relax my curl pattern. I'm soo not interested! I viewed your video last night and used your suggestions in a consultation with a stylist today! I'm pretty sure I found the right person. Next step...the curly cut. Thanks for giving me the confidence to move on!

Great advice, I find stylist will say they are specialized but don’t share their credentials. Frustrating! Thanks for sharing your insights.

Janira Quinones any stylist who has had training should be proud of their continuing education. It’s their bragging rights.

I've looked for a curly hair specialist. In my area their are stylists claiming that they have had DevaCurl training but they don't appear on the DevaCurl site. I contacted DevaCurl and was told that they don't keep track of who takes the training classes. So how do you know if the stylist is legitimate?

Polly I did not know DC doesn’t track their students. A stylist will have a certificate to show proof for their class completion. It will show the date. I hope these links are useful for you to find stylists on other platforms.
