- We Ate & Worked Out Like Golden Era Old School Bodybuilders for a Day, Here's What Happened.
A Gallon of Milk ( otherwise known as GOMAD ), plenty of steak, beef, dairy (including cheese, milk and cottage cheese) and of course, keeping it simple. Before the days of tracking calories and macros there were the old school bodybuilders. We attempted their daily routine - two workouts, tons of calories and a whole lot of grit. It wasn't easy.

if u are slightly knowledge-able about nutrition you will know that fats have a similar effect on stool as fiber, it jsut depends on ur microbiome adaptation

Why? Meat, eggs, milk and cheese are the best food you should eat if you are constipated. Full of nutrients and no fibers. It's better to eat them raw if you can

Back then I did bodyweight training four times a week and cardio on 3 days, but now I am still struggling just to walk 500 metres in day light because of light sensitivy problems, muscle pain, severe fatigue etc. I have gained 9.5 kilos in 3 moths and lost all my gains from before the accident, since I am still not able to do simple weightless exercises at all.

If you look at the average American today versus during the “golden era“ you will see a drastic increase in obesity, heart disease and diabetes compared to back then. This is not from a red meat and high-protein diet. This is primarily from high carbohydrate/sugar diet. Many of these things are hidden in food with names that people aren’t trained to recognize including corn products.

Not to mention the additional 6,000 calories of hardy food these guys need. The Buff Dudes are probably bigger than 99% of people in the comment section and you can see how difficult just one of those tasks are. Rehydrating from sweating all day isn’t what these guys were doing.
no they were not trolling
first of all we have to consider those guys were BIG, not like modern pros but still more muscle than buff dudes, so they needed that much food
also back in the 50s-70s bodybuilders most of them if not all had JOBS, sergio oliva worked in a steel foundry and meat packing place 10 hrs, arnold and franco for a brief period were in construction etc
and they did LOADS of volume on very demanding exercises like benchpress, squats, deadlifts, rows etc
So all things considered they ate just enough
sergio drank 2 gallons of water when he worked in a steel foundry where the temperature was crazy, and he worked 10-12 hr day ...
Phillip Mullis haha nice try my guy. You don’t know anything about me but try working parties on deployments. I also stated sweating all day on a job site isn’t the same as slamming gallons of water in the gym. Maybe everyone missed that part since I guess our egos are on display in the RUclips comment section.
@@jonathansnyder8686 Having worked Roofing in the South East its really not hard to drink 2 gallons in a day if you are sweating like a dog for 10 hours.

I eat this way all the time, just in lesser amounts, and I love it, so does my body :) Protein and fat all the way with a lot of greens and vegetables!
These videos are immensely entertaining! Thank you for creating this content!
"You're not lactose intolerant, you're just not a baby cow."
😂🤣Funny
💯
Still gonna eat my beef
I still have raw milk everyday😎 there was a reason behind why bodybuilders drank it. Gives you amazing strength.
... and you’re also lactose intolerant.
1:41 Me stepping out of every store.
5.30 am and I'm crying😅😅😅 YOU guys are a trip!!
I was just thinking about the exact opposite of this diet. Like what is the minimum traditional food you can consume and what is the maximum dietary supplement you can. I mean there are so many supplement now days for gains and for fat burning.
So, *can you do a "supplement diet" ?* Like meal replacement formulas, all-in-ones, creatines, fat burners etc. One of you could be on gaining mass diet, the other of fat burning(actual topic in the summer, could result a lot of views 😉)
(In a safe way for you, of course)
suppliments are bullshit crap they try to sell to you. Just eat enough protein
Arnold did not drink milk. Quote: "Milk is for babies. Men drink beer."
Love that quote:
"You have to drink Beeyah" lol
That's the joke, because there' s pics of him drinking it.
That was a joke that he said
They used to do low carb. For shakes they would use rheo Blair milk and egg protein powder mixed with heavy cream if they did a shake. They mostly ate real food consisting of cheese eggs and beef though
Arnold is a liar
My guess is that milk could be a lot more important in the diet. Rich in fats and drank in such quantities helped to prevent overeating. It's mentioned in the video the bodybuilders back then didn't count calories and macros. Drinking milk probably helped to control appetite and hunger as well as delivered lots of essential nutrients.
I like almost everything in this diet I dont drink coffee though but yall making me hungry
I have been having an amount of success eating like a Russian...Keffir yogurt milk, lots of beets and cabbage, meat and potatoes, sour cream....lots of pickles...fish and horseraddish
Where are u from?
You guys are great!!! Very informative love the energy!! Keep up the great work guys!!!!!!!!!!!!!
so entertaining and a ton of value right?

Vegans? You mean weak people that don't eat meat?
@@lakeshownation7964 agree with this gentleman
TY for the video! I eat whole foods but only eat Whole Fat Greek Yogurt and cheese for dairy - so yeah as much as I loved whole milk back in the day, those days are long gone now! :)
So.... Only slightly related, but I wanted to agree with you about wanting water instead of your milk! When I was in labor with my first kid it honestly felt like running a marathon. My midwife kept telling me to drink milk or coconut water to get some sugar so I could keep going, but all I wanted was water! I finally chugged about a quarter gallon of coconut milk and push my baby out less than 20 minutes later! (No meds, seriously did feel like when I'd run a marathon a few years earlier.)
