I would honestly eat healthy even if I could eat junk food all day without any health issues - healthy food just _feels_ better, and doesn't make me feel like a living garbage can, and it's also damn delicious if you know what you are doing - like for example chicken in piri-piri sauce combined with avocados, and then strawberries for dessert. As an Asian, what shocked me the most is finding out that a lot of American don’t drink water; the drink soda. So. Mind. Blown. In my country soda is more like occasional treats and definitely not substitute for water, heck we even drink more water afterwards if we do drink soda. When I visited America, I was in awe of their selection of sodas and snacks, though lots of them were just too sweet for my palate. Somehow being grateful that living in second world country means that we have access to fresh food more than the heavily processed one in America; fresh food is cheaper than processed one too.

Usually, buff dudes try different diets for a month or at least a week, but this one, even they knew better than to consume it more than 1 day... That's how dangerous "the average American diet" is... Let that sink in...
Dangerous....? Iono, but definitely unhealthy. If they ate it for a month, they wouldn't die, or be close to dying. They would have gained a lot of weight for sure, and the cravings for the sugar would be long lasting even after a month. You’re super right about the extremes aspect as well. All I could think was “it’s no wonder eating disorders are at an all time high” and that includes underrating and overeating because of sugar and salt addiction, etc. There IS a healthy middle ground between super healthy clean eating (which also leads to orthorexia in some cases) and having Reese’s Puffs for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

One time when we visited America, we decided to try the fast food here, like McDonald’s and In n Out. The set came with a big coke, where they gave us a cup and told us to fill it ourselves in the soda dispenser. Boy me and my family were so shocked of the size of the cup, it was enormous and even more surprising, they told us we can get unlimited refill. Four of us ended up filling and finishing just half of that cup. Till this day, I still wonder how come people can actually finish that huge amount of soda and then go for another refill. It will only get worse with all these "body positivity" movements I'm respectful of everyone's bodys but to a certain point you need to wake up and get healthy
I actually think (or hope) it will be the opposite. Often overeating is a vicious cycle of hating yourself and using food to numb emotions. So if one starts loving themselves that might stop. AND generally speaking, a person that loves their body for what it can do, would want to give it good fuel. This is also what I've seen from the body positivity movement: "treat your body well because it's worthy of love". That means healthy eating etc.

I'm finding this particularly worrying given the situation I find myself in in the UK.
Thats the way I do soda, when I do have it I drink water afterwards. I don't know how people can only drink soda, seems like it would be unpleasant.
I only drink water as well, im from Sweden. It's more common. Soda is more a weekend thing for most, but unhealthy people I guess drink it here often as well as in most countries.

Usually, buff dudes try different diets for a month or at least a week, but this one, even they knew better than to consume it more than 1 day... That's how dangerous "the average American diet" is... Let that sink in...
Probably because they didnt want to develop diabetes. I thought I eas developing it just by watching them eat that stuff.
Dangerous....? Iono, but definitely unhealthy. If they ate it for a month, they wouldn't die, or be close to dying. They would have gained a lot of weight for sure, and the cravings for the sugar would be long lasting even after a month.
They didn't try it for that long run because that would set them back for a good length of time. They'd be the "Chub Dudes" for quite a while.
Dangerous for buff dudes rather. (Digressing) I tried a Reese's peanut butter bar and that thing was so pact full of sugar that it was sickening.

You’re super right about the extremes aspect as well. Let them see for themselves, and be prepared to help them up, and dust them off if/when they eventually fall from it. My wife eats how she wants, and I do the same. I've got no right to tell her how to live no matter how much I'm concerned, and love her.
Cheerios!
@@southafricanizationofsociety20 Yeah, but who eats Cheerios without like 10 spoonfuls of sugar? And the sludge at the bottom? Aight I gotta stop there, LOL.
@@demontekdigital You can tell her she's unhealthy without forcing her to change. You can also tell someone you worry they're damaging their health daily.
baker maybe you can get them to change to low sugar and whole grains cereals and tell them to put fruits in it
The range of candy breakfast cereals in America is simply astonishing.
I often think to myself that I haven't progressed very much at all in my health journey, but watching this brings me back down to Earth. It was only, what, 6-7 years ago where these foods were part of my normal diet? I'm glad I'm able to cringe a bit seeing these products lol
Man, I am lucky that I have the knowledge now, I didn't care about my diet really at all before. I still let myself have more slack than I should, but I live with my parents and siblings still. It is very hard not to eat what everyone else, and make all of my meals. Thanks for the awesome video again, it keeps me motivated and looking to the future.
I remember adding scoops of sugar into my Frosted Flakes when I was a kid. So gross to think about. I'm glad I quit eating like complete trash when I was 16. I honestly thank that Pumping Iron documentary because it pushed me into wanting to weight lift and eventual research into being as healthy as possible.
@4:38 the noise of Brandon eating sounds like the start of Pink Floyd "Money", I was waiting for the saxophone.
Was expecting the bass to slide in
The Average diet = High in Carbs, low in protein, high in fat.
@Sora that is a carb
Very true! Then people wonder why they aren't getting any results...
*high in hydrogenized oils
@@Chris-qb6lb Not sure about that... protein helps with fatloss...
@@Chris-qb6lb yeah agreed. Its honestly kinda hard not to get enough protein with how many excess calories the average person eats, but like 80% of people i know could definitely use some fiber in their diet.

I eat double cheeseburgers and look great 💪🏽🇺🇸😂
@Dutch Vin der linder linder genetics
Nothing wrong with a cheesburger its meat. Infact thats what you should be eating to look like them. If all you eat is vegetables your not gonna gain any muscle
Cheeseburgers aren’t that bad but there are healthier options. It depends tho where u get it
Nothing wrong with carbs if they’re coming from fruit, vegetables, potatoes, whole foods. It’s the processed carbs and added sugar that cause problems
I'm finding this particularly worrying given the situation I find myself in in the UK. Coming out of the EU with their stringent food health safety laws that do not allow the vast majority of the 'ingredients' seen on those lists to potentially being forced to import a lot more of those American products and having our own food standards lowered due to political pressure to allow that sort of trading... I will fully admit to having junk food as part of my family's diet, but saying that, I do try and home cook more than half our meals in a given week too. It's choice verses convenience and I fear that the choice part may be taken away from us soon. The day I see a canned chicken on the shelves is the day I start shopping only at greengrocers and butchers!
I mean, you could just not buy the canned chicken and buy what you’d usually get instead. In America, most grocery stores still have all the healthy options you’re used to. It’s just less likely the average American will buy them.
EU checking in - It's unbevievably easy and relatively cheap to eat shitty - if americans have taco, we have doners; in big convenience stores there are whole aisles with nothing but chips, chocolate cerearls or candies.
@@MercedesSL3 The problem with chlorine-washed foods isn’t what’s in the food, but the conditions the livestock for that food were raised in. Bagged salads must be chlorine-washed by law under EU rules, for example, it’s just that the EU’s (and thus, currently, the UK’s) welfare standards dictate that the meat should be of a quality that doesn’t necessitate chlorine-washing.
Just wanna say this diet is for the obese Americans
*offended American* whats wrong with canned chicken?! Its on my healthy connivence food list too...
I used to eat like that, what the hell i was doing.
Dude I worked at a distribution center where I was walking miles for 12 hrs a day and working out with swimming on my off days. Very active but never lost weight. Back in 7th grade our school had poptarts for breakfast and kids had to get breakfast at school but you were allowed to leave stuff you didnt want on a table. People would leave so many poptarts there, and id eat maybe 8 poptarts every morning. Its so sickening now thinking about it

As someone from an inner city in the US, it wasn’t until I met my husband that I realized how horribly my parents fed my brother and I growing up.
We never went hungry and I am extremely grateful to have been so blessed, but my parents both grew up in the projects and were very poor before making it out. They ate a lot of unhealthy foods because that’s what they could afford.
We didn’t struggle whatsoever when I was young, but my parents continued to eat and feed us I the way they were used to eating their whole lives. I ate SO MUCH sugar and MSG/powdered seasonings (rather than fresh vegetables and fruits).
I’ve been having serious conversations with my parents now about including more natural foods into their diets since they’re overweight and have the related health issues to go with that.

As a European, most of these processed, ultra sugary, multicoloured snacks and cereals just disgust me :-/ No wonder why Americans struggle with obesity, they eat and drink added sugars 24/7 and their portions are absolutely ginormous! I'm pretty sure most of these folks could already lose pounds each week just by replacing what they drink with only water...
Obesity is a big problem in allot of European countries to
@@tijmen131 Absolutely, since we started adopting the same bad habits of eating and drinking excessive sugar and exercising less.
But nonetheless, these "pop tarts", so-called "cereals" etc. are typically American things :-)
@@marich91 yeah, it's sad to see it happen and governments just ignoring it.
Never had pop tarts myself but I can get them here at my local candy store. Quite expensive stuff though.
I'm a native born American (USA) who lives with two Albanians. They eat a lot worse than I do. They eat pizza, frozen meals, peanut butter jelly sandwiches, and mug cakes while I eat soup, casseroles, pasta, salad, sushi, vegetables, and, admittedly, a freaking large amount of diet soda. I'm not saying I'm a superstar, but better than my roommates. Anyways, the thing is is that I notice that immigrants who move to the US often seem to eat pretty poorly, sometimes even worse than some native born Americans. I think people all around the world are generally very similar, it's just that our environments are different.
You aren’t wrong. As someone who grew up fat here in America I’d say the problem mostly starts with the lack of nutritional education. It wasn’t until my late teen years that I started focusing more on healthy eating. I wish I would’ve cut the sugary drinks a lot earlier.
Buff Dudes should try Average American Diet, BUT don't go over daily recommended calories and sugar! :D
It’s also important to recognize that obesity and diabetes rates are so high in the US because to low income families sugary and fast food is all they have within their price range.
That’s a fuckin lie. A bag of rice, a bag of beans, frozen ground beef. Boom dirty rice for a week.

@@lauranceboyd6365 Look up food deserts, plus most people in that situation work alot of hours. Fast food and processed foods are cheap, fast and all the sugar gives you a little hit at the end of a hard day.
So true. I used to work long hours at a warehouse and the last thing I wanted to do was cook. Fast food was way easier. All I wanted to do was eat and go to sleep for the next day.
Stefanie De La Rosa if you get Chinese takeout get chicken with broccoli tell them no oil. Does not get healthier than that.
I really like that you showed to us the amount of sugar in a drinks and this is a good way to explain to your kids, why you don't allow them to drink coca-cola every day, since when they can see the amount of sugar and you ask them, if they could eat it with a spoon right now, they tend to understand it better. So if some of you have a hard time to explain to your kids, why you don't want them to eat certain stuff often, visualize it for them with sugar and for example some oil. 🙂

It's crazy how people think eating junk food and fast food is cheaper. It's so simple. The junk will burn off faster so you'll need more sooner. It doesn't keep you fed long enough. In the long run you're spending more money because you're taking more trips to the store or restaurant.
