I’m in the process of doing this method with hexagons to make a blanket. This is a fun process.

I'm currently making a quilt in this style. My backing fabric is Kona cotton by Robert Kauffman and my fronts are batik scraps. I'm doing it all by hand. It's definitely a long-term project but it will be so worth it! I'm 1/3 the way through.

It’s easier to trim the corners off once the sandwich is made just leave 1/8” from the tip of each corner when you trim the corners off then you won’t get that tail. Hexagons are good as there are no corners to trim you just need the backing fabric hexagon to be 1” bigger than the front hexagon.
