Love it, black makes yellow pop, but for a more beehive effect, I would have used a brown fabric from mid to dark tones. I have dies of hexagons and also the ruler so this is a definite go to block. 😊 thanks for sharing 😊
@@seweasybysandy Hi, thanks for your comment 😊 weather is nice today so far but sometimes we get intermittent rain, which is typical here. Whereabouts are you based? 🤔
I use the hexagon by accuquilt and batting then i guesstimate around the actual cut out one inche all the way around turn under for the background, enough to turn under fast and i have made so many this way ! Easy piesy!
@@seweasybysandy Probably higher than you might think. My hexies are hand stitched, it took forever, and I just put them aside. I’m pretty sure other quilters have done the same thing.
Very cute! Hexagon quilts are one of the things that draws me to quilting but I've been too intimidated to actually try it out, haha. Plus I've been so facinated by designing my own fabric lines that I've been spending a lot of time doing that and less time sewing. This project looks approachable for me!
Awesome!! Inspiring 😍😍 I have bee themed fabrics...have tried these self binding hexi's...seeing what you have done has motivated me to put the two together ♥️♥️ I have tried the hexi's by hand before, looking forward to trying by machine. Thank you for your gorgeous videos.♥️♥️💐♥️
I use a lead pencil normal 2HB if I’m worried it’ll show I use chalk pencils white or blue. I’ve tried friction pens find they drag on fabric plus expensive and dry out when you least expect. Pencils are great just need a sharpener and last for ever🌼💙

Let's make hexies guys!!! How much fun is this? ❤ Extra video this week because the sun is out and so are the 🐝
Great design - making one is just the right size for a coaster - thanks for the 'light-bulb' moment🤔👍
Yes, it looks awesome as a coaster 😊
How wonderful that you showed how to make the hexi template! Now I’m headed over to your blog 😂. Thank you Sandy…..
Thank you 😊
Very cute, and perfect if you don't have a large space and just need a pop
of color for your table. Thanks for inspiring us. Happy Quilting!
Thank you, for you as well! 😊
This is so darling!

That sounds lovely. I don't think I own a piece of brown fabric, must give it a try 😃
Yellow and brown could be sunflowers.
Looks amazing and so easy to do, thank you
Catherine from Scotland
Hi Catherine! Thanks! How's the weather in Scotland? 😄

@@catherinethomson6136 I'm near Lisbon, in Portugal. Summer weather but we did have a couple of showers this week.
i pin the pattern to the batting and just cut around. Super cute quilt it inspired me to try a hexi pattern.
That's a great idea 🙂
Very cute; you made the perfect size for a mug rug.
Another great idea. I love doing app but this is fun doing it by machines. Thank you!
Saw that Brenda from "Mountscrapmore" gave you a shout-out. You deserve it !!!! ❤❤❤
Thank you 😊 I was thrilled!
Love this idea!!!

Love that
Thank you for sharing this. I just happen to have made a bunch of hexie flowers and now I have an idea of what to do with them.
That's perfect! What are the odds?? 😁

It really is! Designing fabric must be so much fun! Love that
Love it!
I love it! It's so cute, and so easy!! 😍
And thank you so much for showing us how to measure a hexigon!! Mine have always turned out wonky, hadn't figured the math properly.❤❤
Hehe. It's easier than it looks
Simply drawing a circle, and using the diameter to construct the hexagon. Very easy.
I love those colors you did a great job and here in the US we call that a mug rug as you said just the right size for a cup of tea and a snack.
I intended to make a place mat but it ended up so tiny that it's more of a mug rug 😂😂
If done singly and maybe a bit larger (5") would make great coasters.
@@sharonlalli1414 We actually had a hard time with the thumbnail because it looked like a coaster tutorial 😁
Love this. Thanks so much for 'how to make' a Hexagon Template.
Love love love this idea
Another inspiring video. Already searching for fabric.a great idea.😍
Thank you 😊
I use fine point “Sharpies”. They seem to dry quickly and stay off my fingers. This is a fun pattern, and love your enthusiasm!
@@nancybubenik7498 thank you 🥰
With adding an inch on all sides, isn't the larger one a 6" hexagon, not a 5" one?
Hi. Yes, tha backing fabric is 6 inches, tje bating and top hexies are 5.
Sew very cute! Thanks Sandy❤❤❤

Coolest thing ever.👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Love this
I love it.
Very cute.
A bone folder with super sharp edge. You'll be able to see it. Works great on fabric also. Not marking pen
So cute! Small placemat? More like large mug rug!!
Yes, absolutely! That was totally what I was going from since the start 😅😅😅
You could start with the bigger hexie pattern, then cut it down to four for the smaller hexes. Just one pattern
Uhh that's smart! 😊

Agreed 😄
Lindo trabalho..AMEI.
Obrigada! 😃
lovely
The bigger Hexi is actually 6 inches since you've added an inch in each direction. I use a chalk roller to mark batting.
Hi. You're right, of course! Thank you 😊
Sharpie.
Thank you 😃
Seriously don't use micron pens or sharpies. The marks often won't wash out. I recommend tailors chalk or chalk pencil, or else kids WASHABLE markers.
I only use it for parts that I know won't ever show and I do it so it can be easy to see on video. Those are much better options, of course 😁
I forgot to mention that it ruins the tips of microns too!

Hi! Thank you so much for your input! Seems like you lead a busy life! 😊
Why are you using white thread?????
So the quilting is visible for you guys. If I was making something other than a tutorial I'd use black
I like the contrast of the white thread
