Fake. Tomley never reads the instructions.
Hahahaha 🤣
A man never reads the instructions for anything ever. If he can not work it out then it is not worth using.
RTFM. Always. 😬
A man with pride don’t need no guide !!!
@@markknight4687 my grown son goes one step further, he throws out the directions first.
Love the tuition on setting the ESC's to LiPo cutoff voltages.
And then Clarkson-ing of it!
Guys - for low draw setups, check out Molicel Li-Ion batteries. Their cells have huge capacity for current draw for Li-Ion, the P28A 18650's for instance, have 2800mah capacity and a ridiculous 35 Amp current rating, and their 21700 cells supply 45 Amps. And they're cheap - $6 and $5, respectively, so a 3S 45A 4200mah pack would be less than $20 in parts. I've been using them in RC planes and cars, and can attest to the current ratings (the planes have flight controllers with current meter telemetry on the OSD.
Haha... cheers dude
I got one just because I saw yours and I got the Subaru. I was a Subaru Impreza owner one of my best car ever owned in my life
Pretty impressive how faster they went, Tomley! 😃
FANTASTIC bashing!!!
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
BTW, I'm sorry if I lost some of the last videos... I had some pretty horrible few days, even went to the hospital... But I'm much better already!
Thanks dude. Your health is way more important than my videos dude. Hope all is well
What you should do to get lipo back to chargeable is replace it. What you "shouldnt" do is set your charger to NICD or NIMH and charge that lipo cell for a few seconds to above the cutoff voltage and then stop it and continue the charge in lipo mode. It could make your battery catch fire so even though itll probably save you having to replace the lipo you probably shouldnt try it. ;)
Atleast someone had the balls to explain wtf he was talking about.
To get more speed, increase the size of the tires. But you need the buggy version to do this. Either get the mini z buggy monster rims and tires (very expensive) or make your own with mini z rims with mini 4wd monster tires. You'll need the metal pinon or else you'll strip the plastic one in no time.
That GT24 (MK1 Escort) still looks the coolest. 👌
It’s certainly got a nice nostalgic feel to it
Subie is nice to
I've been looking for one of those Carisma GT24s for what seems like 2 years now.
For a while I even thought Carisma went out of business during the covid BS.
Very nice !
when i saw that subaru take off with the lipo...damn! i started laughing. so much more power! was wondering how hot the motor got after bashing it around with the lipo. Thank you sir for another cool video!
It seems to take it well. Didn’t notice it was hot at all
I can confirm that. The original gt24’s used to come with a 2s lipo out the box. The only thing that wears is the slipper clutch which is just two plastic pieces that have ribs. The solution for that is to superglue them together and have fun. You’ll go through a pinion gear every five or six months which is cheaper and easier than dealing with the slipper assembly.
Hi Tomley thanks for covering this fun 1/24 carisma! I have modified a gt24 with a hobbywing ESC running on 2s lipo and it's ballistic. I swapped in longer suspension arms and oil shocks so it can be driven without rolling.
Wow... sounds awesome!
Do you have a link for the arms and shocks?
One of these days I have to get a RC from you with your autograph on the body. Love your videos Man
😎👌
The hmmmm unlicensed model looks so good throwing dust around the car park 👀👌
Big huge difference 👍🙏
I resisted after the initial view, but caved when it popped up in my search history! Ordered the “unlicensed body style “ looks too good!
Wow 👍 what a difference.. Great video mate 👍
Cheers Rob
Need to see these guys around the new test track!
It still amazes me what these lipos do 👍🍻
Me too
Great vid Tomley. Also loved that purely American Losi! Have my first kit on the way to complete. (AMG GT3 Fazer)
The Losi is awesome!
It is funny how all these WLtoys are being sold with "Upgraded batteries." that never quite fit inside them properly. Yes they might go faster and have a longer run time but keeping them in place is another matter altogether. The one RC Car I have that can take several different sized batteries is my Feiyue FY08 as the battery compartment is a T shape and a huge space for them to fit in. With a 2600mah 60C battery I have it does wheel stands on take off.
the carisma GT24 RS escort model is really 1/20 scale in size to the real escort RS Mexico mk1car. The GT24 RS with a modification of a hole cut out to the front left bottom side of the chassis to get the inside connection for the battery to the outside of the chassis, you can strap a bigger 7.4 volt 2s lipo, or a 7.4 volt 1200 -2000 mah li-ion battery to the top of chassis lid with a big thick black elastic band ( bought from amazon ) diagonally crossed over round the entire chassis body . But before you strap the battery get a 50×30mm 3M sticky pad ( bought from amazon ) to stick over and protect the aerial wire on top of the chassis top cover. The aerial is long enough to lay down to a small pillar with a slit in its centre of the pillar, at the rear centre back of the chassis. You can then keep charging the new bigger battery permanently strapped to the top of the chassis without unstrapping it. This modification to the car and with a new bigger battery connected to the top compartment lid of the chassis will make your car go like shit of a stick. While adding extra battery weight, the car has power a plenty to spin its rear wheels and power slide out its rear end. The 1/20 in real scale size to the original Ford RS Mexico mk1car, the carisma GT24 RS escort version has a top speed scale speed faster than the real car, with a scale speed of around 440mph, which in fact utterly ballistic is the right term for this little pocket rocket from this small RC car. When i wss a kid i saw a real very highly modified Ford RS Mexico that could accelerate at under 2.7 seconds 0-60 where i was living as a kid in Rawdon Leeds, West Yorkshire . Then later on in my twenties i also saw a very highly modified porsche 911 RS4 that also had blindingly quick acceleration, and this was in Otley, Leeds, West Yorkshire.
Rad! I might try that, I have the Subaru, Thanks for showing!
No probs dude
These types of videos are my favorite. Good find! Thanks so much for sharing! I finally got some pinions for my upgrade 180 motors that I'm dying for sunlight tomorrow to go speed test em in two different type trucks they're ready to go and I did the hand of God speed test ohh myyy its magical best word to describe right
Holy...what a night and day experience jumping to Lipo for this little guy. Recently got the GT24B (I love a buggy) and it was cute and fun with the stock NiMH battery but turns into a little rocket once I threw in a 2S. Worth the $20 I spent on 2 packs for this :)
just bought the i20 waiting for it right now :)
@@icebrew Nice, oddly enough, a local hobby shop got the buggy, truggy, and the Subaru in stock literally days after I ordered mine.
Holy Burnouts Batman!
Escort and Scooby are my favorites💪👍👍
Huge improvement in speed, will be much more fun to run.
It’s channels like yours that make me want a collection only got two at the moment but I can see me having a few.
Holy cow . A different car completely.
My question is...does it make much difference for brushed setups??🤔🤔
If anything it increases run times. Which is the first thing I’ve noticed about lipos.
I'll take the "Not an Escort"...but that Subi isn't too shabby! That's totally sick for scale speed lol...👍
The Hyundai is my favourite
Question: you showed that little Hyundai and mentioned a follow up video featuring that car. I can’t find it in your list. Did you ever do that follow up? Thanks.
Awesome Sauce !
Bit like my results with the 1:24 HB Toys Drifter, really woke up....
So much more fun
It’s funny how you can change the motor , pinion or gears and still not get the performance from just changing the battery. Which is the easiest hop up to do . Great video Phil.
Amazing performance boost. I just ordered the Subaru, but I haven't received it yet. I'm pretty new to this, could you tell me the specific Lipo battery you used, voltage and mAh? Are all the connectors the same for those? A lot of the 2S Lipos I'm seeing are 7.4v. Any additional info would be greatly appreciated.
The Subaru pops wheelies on the carpet 😅
so excited to get this thing
ive been saving money
Loved this video, Could you tell me in your opinion the "Best" Subaru RC car? looking at the TT-02 also I like the modern look. My daughter loves Subaru's and I think this may help her get into the hobby. Possibly something upgradable with durable drivetrain etc.
LOVE the Austin Powers figure LOL
You are my Favorite RC youtuber
Thanks dude
Lipo makes loads difference, drift car 1/10 scale brushless comes with Nicad battery oput my 2s lipo in and literally burns the tyres off (as I put some road tyres on ) so much more fun and speed 👌 🚗 💨💨💨💨
Yes... crazy difference!
Ok let’s see this run!!! So I thought my GT24 Subaru was fun out of the box but it’s definitely in need of a little extra top speed. This seems to be a must do mod. I wonder how long the drivetrain will last? Great video 👊👊👍👍
I’ll keep running them and see how they hold up
@@TomleyRC how did they hold up?
@@TomleyRC how did it hold up ?
Also interested how long they hold up.
That sounds so much better with the lipo
Hahaha Tomley you are awesome.. This cars going fast as f with these Lipos😅👍awesome job as always🙌
Haha... cheers dude
Quality Night and day difference with the LiPo bud 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Might need some oil filled shocks on the Not-Escort to keep the wheels on the pavement
Yes
Sweet looking escort and Go like the clappers very fast on a lipo 35.406 kilometres per hour that's awesome As always your video's are fantastic cheers
They look so much fun & shit fast with a lipo in if I got one I think I would go for the scooby
Those little cars look absolutely gorgeous! I had a Losi micro 1/24 rally back in the day that I really liked. Might have to pick one of these up
I need to make a nice track for them!
@@TomleyRC That would be really cool to see! Great thing about them being 1/24th scale is that the track doesn't need to be that big :D
Great vid, can these power slide on a smoother surface? Thanks!
I wanna know this too
Yes, with a Lipo definitely 👍
@@TomleyRC thanks, you have a sub!
@@TomleyRC also if you had a choice would you go kyosho mini z awd or the gt24 with lipo? Thanks so much!
Are you literally running after the cars while driving one handed and filming with the other? Great video
Not running, but yeah.... most of the action shots on my videos are driving with one hand, filming with the other
What was the bigger batteries did you get for the GT24’s?
My fav channel this.
Crazy Fast!!!
🤣🤣🤣 reads instructions... talk amongst yourselves!.... 😂😂😂
Technology is a crazy thing, I remember humpback batteries that seemed to wiegh a ton, fast forward a couple decades and.... can you even imagine where the technology will be 20 years from now ! Good grief 😎
Yes... can’t wait!
Ain’t that the truth, I was thinking just that myself being an older gentleman, I remember 38 years ago with my first tamiya and how the technology has greatly improved 👍🙏
I remember when they just had double a's crazy indeed
@@catcancrunch7260 who called you a gentleman?? Lol jk man I'm an old fart too who still plays with his RC10 goldpan from 1984!
They look so much fun . 3s 😎 next
3s! 😅
They only do a 12000kv upgrade motor as well 😱. Believe the supplied one is 8000kv.
12k! Wow!
@@TomleyRC carisma mini 130 brushless 12000kv £30 from make it build it
@@jayhow997 i have the subaru can i get the 12000kv motor and swap it out or do i need other things to run that motor?
Hey Tomley, would the little USB charger you get with the Axial SCX24 work with this lipo? Cheers
Could you give the link to the lipo battery? Thanks
I'd love to try one in the dirt on 2s. Looks like alot of fun.
I need to make a nice track!
Why does my slipper clutch click so much when I'm on 2S lipo it's really bad doing be bad do I have a defective slipper clutch
Great video, I just ordered one with a separate lipo. Having said that, I think I may have bought the wrong battery. I bought the CRS15432: Carisma 350mah 2S 7.4v LiPo that is sold for the GT24B. Will it fit and work?
Bump! Hi Tomley, after taking delivery I can confirm that the lipo cell does fit; however, I'm not sure if I should be using the standard 7.2V NiMH USB charger that comes with the package to charge the lipo. Should I be ok or should I go out and buy a balance charger.
Go Ed 💪
Well dang. How did you get the battery to fit lol
Great video - I got the WLtoys battery, but not sure what charger to use with it? Thanks
You can get the little USB ones that plug in to the balance lead, that’s what I use. I’d get one that has an output of around 800mA or 1A
@@TomleyRC thanks!!
I am getting one today and wonder how it stacks to the wltoys k989. It's tough as nails but not brushless out the box. Still Damm quick though
That made a huge difference, why the heck they font send a lipo included I do not know lol.
I’m looking forward to seeing you have coming for us and your channel in 6 - 8 weeks bud, you got my mind wondering now lol 👍
Can you tell me the distance between the axis in cm. I printed a Tesla 3 body and i am searching for a chassis. I need 12 cm between the axis.
Wow just found your channel. Good content. I have tried using the included charger for the carisma but no matter what usb port I plug in to the red light doesn't change on the charger. Can you give me tips how it works please?
I would like to get a lipo for mine, can you tell me the make and part number please as I don't want to get the wrong one.
3:57 accidental freestyle is best freestyle
Great little racers. Does anyone know if these have ball bearings on drive train?
Yes they do 👍
But...but I need to know how to make the LiPo back into action. So I can fix my dead LiPo maybe...Please make video about how to fix the LiPo.
It’s not safe to do it, so I won’t be making a video
how did you get the battery to fit in there
Hi tomley, what upgrades do you recommend for an axial scx24
I’ve just got a big box full of Treal upgrades, video coming soon. They look really good!
@@TomleyRC thanks very much
Very nice. Will it hold up to all that juice?
Pls show us how to set slipper clutch for these rc cars 💪👍🙏
Is there like an online store for RCs only
I’ve zapped many a lipo the naughty way to bring them back 😂😂😂
Is that your gr yaris in the background?
Yeah 👍
What is the blue and orange rally car called?
Hi, I am pretty new to the Carisma cars. I have a GT24b and i want to put in the 2s lipo for longer run times. My question is once i switch over to the "Lipo mode" on the controller as the instructions say, is it safe to use and will it stop running before it over discharges and destroys the Lipo? Thanks
Lipo mode should activate a low voltage cut off... so it's there to protect the lipo 👌
@@TomleyRC thanks!
Looking forward to testing it out with the 2s lipos then. Thanks for your inspiring video.
Now all these need is a gyro (maybe nick the esc from one of those drift trucks you had on a while ago) and it'd be an awesome rally car
Yes, would be a nice edition
Heh, maybe an AE86 is needed to go up against the Mk1 Escort!?
AE86.... I’d like a real one 😅
@@TomleyRC What about an Escort Mexico?
Hello,
Does anyone know how to set up the ESC to New battery type from NiMH to Lipo for the Cut off voltage ? I don't want to damage my lipo battery but the instruction is not clear..
Thanks a lot
I cant find the video on the Hyundai 😊??
💯💪💪👉👍 sweeet run
Yep NiMH are old tech and garbage compared to a Lipo 👍 nice job Phil
Wait tomley has the GR Yaris? I am very very jealous.... 🤣🤣
Hey just brought one of these and its insane i love it can anyone suggest a good battery upgrade.
Check the forums online but it’s a nano tech 2s 300 mah
@@zacbrewser thank you
Taken my advice of using lipoz I see. Ain't it double the fun?
Yes 👌
Just got the Mk1
Anyone else have problems with these? I got 2 and 1 of them doesn't drive at all, it only turns. The other one has a really strange throttle and reverse issue. Sometimes it just doesn't want to go or switch to reverse. I haven't even used a lipo in them yet and they are brand new so i know i didnt break anything.
I’d be taking them back to where you bought them. That doesn’t sound good
The main issue is that it will flip over on a not 100% smooth road when it goes sideway. I've already lost dogbones because of that
I got the battery… I just need the car 😂
Haha
Nice cars,,bro, bit to small for me though,,1/10 is perfect for me , not to small not to big,,but each to their own bro lol 🤣👍
Yeah... plenty for everyone out there 😎
those are butter
Subbing for more gt24 content!!Have seen your channel and I am not into the rest of the rc world besides racing. But no one big (channel size wise) has touched these until you, please upgrade their suspension and make one a buggy!!!
Yes, hoping to get them out again soon. I want to make a little scale track for them
I worked for Hyundai in an unspecified capacity....I was always told it was 'Sunday, Funday, Hyundai (Hunday)' for pronounciation. it was even in a training video
Also getting the subura and new hatch lol
Bonkers lol 🤣
God bless
