@@TomleyRC when running on lipo, watch out for the diff gear. They can easily worn out in 2s. I have one, my friend had one while I kept running on 1s and been running no problem even today, my friend went on 2s and break it. The parts are not easy to find in South Korea (because of the official shipper dont care about it anymore) so he throw it to the bin.
I have the Subaru 1999 WRC and this thing is absolute bonkers. Faster than the 1/24 mini-z buggy but requires more finesse in control. Very fun and durable.
Hi random citizen, can you please check dimensions for me ... I want to buy only body and in the pdf manual I found that wheelbase is 119mm, total length is 180mm and width 107mm (I assume it is without side mirrors) the problem is that various websites provide way too much different dimensions info. I would be so grateful, thanks.
When the Mini crawlers came out, I bought a few of them and after a while I got bored because they weren't great outside, and I didn't have the room or patience to make an indoor track. I think I'd run into the same issues with these and they'd end up collecting dust. They do look like fun, but without a dedicated area I think they'd be a fad. Still enjoyed the vid. I20 FTW
I think its easy to forget about running cost when looking at the initial price. While they may seem a little dear for a tiny RC, once you've got it that's pretty much it as it doesnt have the inertia to really get any damage other than scratching. If you compare it to cheaper "toy grade" rc's which as soon as yiu break them they go in the bin, you're getting a good deal and much more fun.
Escort for me.Had loads of them in the 80's.Bought them for twenty or thirty quid, ran them them for a few months, then scrapped them.If only we knew what an icon they would be.
Love the old Fords the mk2 escort is my favourite but the Subaru is still a fantastic car to this day and most modern performance cars struggle to keep with it you where a lucky boy testing those. Looking forward to see all three running.
@@TomleyRC quick question are you a fan of hpi don't think I've heard you mention them. No one seems to do any reviews on hpi personally I think they are a good brand
Looks pretty awesome and did better than I expected on the dirt , maybe if they had some body trimming like you said and some little aggressive knobbied up buggy tires and four or five friends on a little homemade track in the yard . Hell yeah that could catch on quick !
Got the GT24B (the buggy version) for three, almost four years now and I still use it in the circuit I built for the Mini_Z and the Atomic Amz ones in the attic. I have not had any problem with it, it's fast, cool, durable and super-fun to drive. But it comes with a full side transmitter (same model that comes with the Carisma M10DB, a pretty good desert buggy, you should try it). Those micro rally cars are attracting my attention, surely I will acquire them too. Great video, as usual. Thanks!
I got the Hyundai about a month ago. Only used it in a fairly empty office floor space. Very fast and drove it straight into a solid metal table leg which squashed the front of the body in. It popped out but front of the bonnet now has a lovely crease line! Ordered the Subaru this morning and should arrive tomorrow.
@@bangurhead4027 Mine was from a UK shop. The carisma shop link at the the top sells them. Not sure if they are sent from the US though, I think it might be Hong Kong?
I raced one of these a few years ago when they first came out it was the GT24R version. My local onroad track at the time had a one off fun meeting which was basically run anything 1:10th or smaller. I ran it with the upgraded lipo battery and upgraded shocks it came with a 3.7v lipo as standard. It was pretty fast the biggest issue I had was that our track had seen better days and it was a little bumpy in sections, it struggled in the high speed bumpy corners, good fun though 😃
I like these! Sound really torquey! The escort is my favorite. I Don’t think it’s too gimmicky. I think once these catch on they’ll be a big hit! If they can get more licenses for different bodies that would be absolutely wicked!👍🏻👊🏼😎
@TomleyRC would you consider either doing a video or writing up some options for improving control on this unit? It's been really hard to find specifics on upgrade paths for the servo and ESC. Thanks!
That escort takes me back to my old road rally days , needs some minilites wheels , the scooby does look boss, they would Go very well on a tarmac tennis court , Wimbledon is only two weeks long then they'll be loads of courts to run em in, another great review , keep banging them out mate that 50k can't be far away ☠️
nice review thanks. Might be another load of money you have persuaded me to part with! so far you've inspired me to spend over a grand! manufacturers should reward you 👍🍺
these go way faster than 12mph. nano-tech 2s 300mAh 45-90c. fit perfectly. indoor speed1, outdoor speed 3. so much fun. they jump nicely. thoughtful turn management outdoors on speed 3 is a requirement. they are quick!
I really dig the Escort 👍 As someone from the States, we unfortunately didn't get that awesome "little mota" as you would say. 😁 I think we really missed out to be honest.
Pretty awesome little cars, Tomley! 😃 Honestly, anyone would be great to have! They remember me of an old rally game I had for PC that came with a magazine's CD... It was really fun! 😃 Anyway, stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
When I bought the first model at least 5 years back, maybe more, and started to drive it with full throttles and brakings, the spur gear destroyed became bold after a few seconds. I don't know if they have changed something now, but back then, it was a trash. They had brass pinion gear with tiny teeth's and simple plastic spur gear. They were very fragile.
I've been hesitant to buy one for a while since the last model came out so long ago. Figured parts might discontinue soon. So this is great news, I think I have to get one!
i feel like these are the future of rc cause i live in sc an theres no drift tracks with in 10 hours of me theres a few dirt, oval, and asphault tracks out there but thats about it. i wish i had the money to start a bussiness cause if i started a rc store with a drift/ off road course for 1/10 an 24 scale i could make a good bit of money. this is speculation i know i love rc. but that one track close to my house is packed on race day
Yep, A guy here in my home town in Australia is currently designing 3 permanent tracks (1 indoor, 2x outdoor) There certainly is a market for such venues as the hobby is making a massive comeback here with the technology available. You would pack it out mate and make decent money while having maximum job satisfaction.
Great cars. To get a brushless car at this price, it's a steal. The mini z buggy costs twice as much and twice as slow. I got the buggy kit and comes with lipo. I run lihv 350mah for extra kick. Max battery size is 500mah. Only thing you need to get are the steering rods. The stock ones are four thin flimsy pieces of plastic which will bind over time. Optional oil shocks are nice but fragile. DIY a wide PP plastic bumper so you don't go replacing A arms often. There is also an optional 12k motor but it will strip your diffs. Tried a 15k motor and burnt the esc.
Id love a licensed Escort/Cosworth as a shelf princess. That's really sweet for small scale...and for that deadly mini Group B rally' action! 😈😜👍 Great for Winter/Rain Kitchen racing lol.
Bro trust me the smaller the better with RC’s.. brushless motor technology is currently emerging that will allow for ridiculously fast lipo brushless micro/nano rc cars that achieve absurd scale speed
In order to reach the same scale speed as a 200mph 1/8 scale a 1/24 scale would only have to hit 66 mph which would look like an utter violation of physics to the eye in action
You would think that the lexan body is interchangeable for all 3 cars since they are all the same chassis. Take a better look at thoss front body posts, especially the subaru. Note the small wheel clearance to the fenders. It is also hard to make them go straight on the throttle, no matter how liitle or much the trim adjustment, it never really solves that problem
Ordered the Escort this morning, then your video dropped. Looking forward to tinkering with it. I thought these did about 20mph too. Maybe run the cable out the top and velcro a 2s onto the chassis?

Put the throttle to #3 on transmitter. There’s 3 settings. On 2s it goes 23mph. I have the Hyundai
It was on 3.... NiMH is not good for Brushless. I’ll speed run it on Lipo for the next video. 23mph is ballistic! Can't wait to try it!
I think I'll stick to the stock battery. Mine was fast enough in the small space I used it in! I was a bit surprised at the speed in the video.
