I think this is better it even has bonnet turn into a competent pirate. The show never lets him have that hes just a punching bag.
His quartermaster and Blackbeard were extremely patient with him, probably because of how nice the guy was. They gave him way too many opportunities to shape up in my opinion.
It’s still so bizarre to me to picture someone as ruthless and brutal as Blackbeard, being patient with someone with the learning curve of the Great Plains.

Ironically, Blackbeard died the way Stede wanted to go out. Fighting till his last breath. In the end even that was indirectly stolen from him by Blackbeard.

Actually shocked how decent Blackbeard was to Bonnet, the fact he gave back what he manipulatively took says something at the very least.
Despite all the jokes about it in the pirates of the Caribbean movie there was some weird code of honor they all had
I was looking for this comment. Blackbeard was EXTREMELY good to this man. I was stunned with the "twist" of blackboard being a "good" guy.
Also, all the loyalty Bonnett received, all the way to the end, was unwarranted for a man of his stature.

I like how his kids names are Stede, Mary, Allamby, and Edward, which are his name, his wife’s name, his wife’s maiden name, and his father’s name respectively
They couldn't find the family Bible to pick new names so they just had to go with the ones they knew.

Love the cheesy happy ending after the real one, it's obviously fake but still gives a sense of catharsis, and ends the story on a happy note.

I may have missed something, but I’m curious as to how Bonnet found out his crew was marooned on the sandbar. What, did Blackbeard just leave a note on the Revenge that said “your princess is in another castle”? How did he know that they didn’t just go with Blackbeard?
There's a specific sandbar that the pirate community collectively agreed to abandon their crews at. It was so that any captain in need of more men could check there for abandoned men
