For those of you who don't know, Shaolin kung fu is one of the oldest and hardest forms of martial arts. A lot of MMA and other martial arts originated from Shaolin kung fu. You may have seen many MMA fighter vs Shaolin Monk videos on RUclips. Shaolin masters can develop crazy abilities like iron fist, extreme flexibility, and the ability to run on water.

Well he confirmed they jump higher
Monks are special beings that can do incredible things.
I think what he meant by that was depending on how you define superhuman, the answer can cause a lot of confusion.
We've seen many different kinds of monks have abilities that seem like they shouldn't be possible, like extra hardened skin, the ability to produce more force than an average person with minimal movement, etc.
Weather or not there's a supernatural element to what they call chi, can be hard to say for certain. The lines between supernatural and skillful can be blurred when we talk about what monks are capable of, so I can see why they'd want to avoid questions like these that could potentially make their answers seem inconsistent and unreliable.

His answer to the question of following your heart is spot on.
Years ago, as a teen, I had a older distant relative who’s a monk. He wore the traditional orange Buddhist gown and his personality was like Master Yandi, but more open and wholesome. His life was very different. Not only you can’t marry, but cannot touch kids or women. I remember my younger cousins would run to him with hugs and questions, he would just be cautious and avoid physical contact; literally raising his hands from others. It was definitely weird at first, but it was an interesting experience to see how it all worked.

@@donovandaniel1206 I appreciate the thought, but what you said about survival and inner peace is synonymous with what I mentioned about self preservation. i aspire to be like him fr hes so calm & patient its so cool
I always listen to my heart and do what I am curious about
i have a deep respect for monks due to my wife's experience. They're very kind people whose willing to take in a lost girl that was abandoned by her aunt in singapore. They took her in, gave her food and a place to sleep. They even helped her get to the airport on the day of her flight home.
I have so many questions.
@@MarliAnguisette yeah, it could be a movie
Oh god that's sounds crazy
Uncle?
That sounds so wholesome
I like the fact that the question he enjoys the most are the most philosophic ones. When we think about Shaolin Monks, most of us think about kung-fu first. But we forget that before being good fighters, they are scholars. They train their heart and their minds as much as their bodies and each monk has their preferences and specialities. They seek some kind of enlightenment.
Monks are so calmful
@Fishy Vagina They're objectively good fighters. Not sure what standard you're measuring them on.
@Fishy Vagina No, I measure it by the fact that these Shaolin monks can probably beat more than 99% of the population in a fight. Or 95, but whatever, same point. That makes them objectively good fighters. You don't have to be the best of the best to be considered good at something. A good college basketball player may get rekt in the NBA, but they're still considered good basketball players.
@Fishy Vagina I don't think they specifically do fight training tho. I think the quote on quote, "fight training" they do is mostly not actual martial training to fight in a real situation. In history, the reason shaolin monks do kung fu was because of fitness because monks back then didn't exercise making them weak. It is the same with tai chi because who the hell in their right mind would practice yoga while fighting against street thugs? But really, it mostly matters on who the monk is. When you're in a real fight situation, you would forget all fight training you are going through, meaning that you would just do basic strikes. I believe that basic strikes are still effective in fact more effective than fancy dances.
@Antares Not necessarily. Shaolin monks are more on meditation and breaking limits, rather than fighting alone. Fighting is different compared to what you think it's like. It's hard to stay calm in a fight even for a shaolin monk. And not everybody's a fair player in fights.
Those questions very common,Monk answered very clearly.thank you
He's so calm.❤
"This should be asked for everyone" RESPECT
Wow read your comment just when it was that part
Can you fly?
It shouldn’t be asked it should be normal

I like how Hafu introduce the monk as "Master Yandi", but he introduce himself as "Shaolin Disciple", so humble
I'm not even a proper Shaolin Disciple lol
@@hafu I think he was talking about the monk 😅

I liked that he said that too. In lots of martial arts it’s emphasized that becoming a master or black belt etc. is just the beginning. Everyone continues learning and seeks improvement

I like how when you asked about the biggest thing you should improve on he answered with what most young people struggle with
Bro your master is so good like i hope when im gonna go try training like him having one like him

Hahaha 😆
Same. Lol
I like how he doesn’t get irritated at all when asked dumb or obvious questions. This guy’s discipline is on another level.
You would die if you jumped from his temper to bottom
Master Yandi is a very patient teacher
People who practice meditation are calm and never get angry easily
He clearly was irritated. And didn't crack a smile the entire interview basically
He seemed pretty irritated to me LOL
